Amazing experience with Angel motorcycle training completing my CBT with Graeme.
A few years ago I done my CBT with a different local motorcycle training school and it was nothing in comparison. Far better experience and feel for it through Angel it’s even made me book my DAS in right away. Graeme is a top instructor, good banter and keeps you safe. Highly recommend.

Ian and Graham were great, funny guys, lots of patience and encouragement, If I had any advice for anyone just starting out, you'll learn more on the road ride than you will in the courtyard so don't be afraid to get out there, they'll look after ya

I completed my CBT with Angel and was initially unsure about moving on to my full licence, however being involved and supported by a fantastic set of instructors, I have passed my MOD1 and MOD2 within a few months.
The team are professional, supportive and very knowledgeable.
I couldn't recommend Angel enough.

Having completed my CBT with another school previously, I must say that Angel carry out the CBT to a really high standard, Michael did my CBT and was great also mad ethe experience enjoyable and fun.

I had never been on a big bike before so started on an MT-03 for one lesson then onto the MT-07. My Mod1 lessons were done by Lisa and she was really informative, explaining things really well, with her training I only needed 4 lessons and passed first time with zero minors.

Onto my Mod2 which I did with Jon and Keith. Both of them really knowledgeable and explained any mistakes I had made (there was plenty to talk about on my first couple of lessons!) I did another 6 lessons for my Mod2 as there was a few things I needed to work on. They gave great advice and worked with me on any issues I had. I failed my Mod2 the first time around but this was a stupid mistake on my part, one serious fault and only 1 minor, so it's clear the training was great. Learnt my lesson and happy to say passed the second time around.

The bikes can have issues but these are training bikes, they get dropped and abused by people who have no idea how to ride, so of course don't expect to learn on a showroom bike. There might be a particular bike you just don't get on with and if you make it known the instructors will always try to put you on the bike that you're most comfortable on.

As a " pensioner" I finally grew a pair and sought out Angel Motorcycle Training, ( they come highly recommended).
Yesterday I did my Cbt, I was quite nervous after not being on a bike for 40 plus years, after an hour or so Graeme and Alan were having a good giggle, it helped calm the nerves.
After yard training, lunch, then out on the road, what a feeling.
Highly enjoyable, fun instructors, knowledgeable, and professional.
What a blast it was, I'm aching all over from turning my head so much.
I'm off too get my own kit, do my theory/ hazard perception( yawn).
Then I'll be back for Mod 1 and 2. So excited like a giddy kid.

I went with Angel because they had a partnership with Newcastle Honda ( if you past your full bike test with Angel you got £500 off a new Honda bike ) so I signed up for mod 1 & 2 and was given a black Yamaha Fazer to learn on. Mod 1 lessons started and I wasn’t the most confident of riders so took a bit of getting used too. Angel would book me a test in a few weeks down the line so there was goal to work towards only for the test to be kicked further down the line as Lisa or Keith would say “ I wasn’t ready for my test “ this happen a couple of times and obviously they are the instructors so didn’t question it. Then three things happened that completely changed my view of Angel.
1. Before your mod 1 test you have a mod 2 lesson on public roads as you have to ride to the test centre and back. The day I arrive for my mod 2 lesson I got told that someone the day before had dropped the Fazer and it skidded down the yard but the bike was fine. In my limited knowledge This was not the case there was problems with the bike before we even left the yard ( cutting out and getting it to start ) managed to get away and start the lesson then every junction, traffic lights the bike would cut out and the would be a issue trying to start it. Then we pulled over to the side of the road to discover there was a problem with the kick stand sensor and the clutch lever and cable. Managed to complete that lesson and I had another lesson booked in for the following Sunday.

2. The following Sunday arrived and I went to the lesson as normal again on the Fazer Keith said “ someone had looked at the bike and it was working fine now “ started my lesson and everything was going ok until I done a u turn and I got too close to bike in front panicked grabbed the front brake and the bike fell from beneath me I managed to jump off the bike. at that point my confidence was zero I was about to walk off the yard and quit there and then Keith persuaded me otherwise the lesson ended and I was told again that I wasn’t ready for the mod 1 test I was upset at that decision in my view it’s because I dropped the bike, a bike that I kept having issues with.

3. One day I was passing Honda Newcastle decided to call in and make more equerries Abort the £500 off a new bike. Graeme the salesman then said how you finding the Honda to learn on I said I’m not learning on a Honda I am learning on a Yamaha Fazer. Graeme then said you should be learning on a Honda to qualify for the £500 off he also went on to say that Keith should of signed me up with the Honda training program and that I would of got a voucher to redeem for the £500 off and that Angel had been given a brand new Honda hornet for students to learn on. I went back to Keith with this information and was told that he sort it out this didn’t happen

With Everything that happened i messaged Keith to say that I wasn’t going any further with them Keith did say not to quit but my mind was made up.

Subsequently I went with another training school who give me the confidence and belief and have now passed my mod 1 & 2 and now have a full bike license.

It is with a sense of responsibility that I feel compelled to express my feedback regarding the recent CBT training experience my son underwent with your company. While the instructor exhibited a satisfactory level of competence, I observed certain discrepancies in the training standards that gave rise to concerns regarding alignment with DVSA guidelines, as readily available online.

Of particular note was the grouping of students, wherein my son found himself amidst a cohort of four individuals with a single instructor during the road ride segment. This arrangement, compounded by environmental hazards such as the glaring sun, raised apprehensions regarding safety protocols and personalized attention to each learner's needs.

5 star experience from start to finish, I've done a few CBTs over the years and this was by far the most enjoyable, nice modern bike, instructor very informative and no stone left unturned, will definitely be going back to complete my motorcycle direct access training.

Bikes are old and lack of duty of care towards students is poor and are more bothered about the bikes the bike i learned on had issues to which I got put on a different bike and was expected to do Mod 1 on it when I had no knowledge of the clutch control every vehicle has a different biting point due to this I came off the bike doing emergency stop and the instructor was more bothered about the damage of the bike than any concern to me coming off so this is to give anyone a little guidance to those who are thinking of learning with angel DONT and go with A1 motorcycle

I’d done my previous CBT with a large, faceless company and I didn’t enjoy the experience. Angel are small but personal, very thorough and cheerful (Julie was my instructor for the day). The bikes are well maintained and I’ll be recommending them to everyone from now, and hopefully will return to them for full lessons in the future.

I'm a senior learner who couldn’t face another CBT so went for my full motorcycle licence at the tender age of 58. I began my riding career with another motorcycle school which successfully got me through many CBT's and my Mod 1 test. Unfortunately due to nerves I failed my Mod 2 test and shortly after that, the business folded.

I contacted several of the 'most popular' motorcycle schools and explained I just needed a lesson to get used to their bike, for them to put me in for a test and to have access to their bike for my second Mod 2 motorcycle test. All of them said yes, on the condition I took more lessons with them. One motorcycle school close to the Gateshead test centre said they would not put me forward for a Mod 2 test with their bike unless I accepted 10 hours (minimum) of lessons beforehand. That's over £400! This was despite the fact I only failed my Mod 2 for a single serious mistake due to nerves, and, I hadn't picked up a single minor fault throughout the test. I told them I was ready for a 2nd test, but they wouldn't budge from the 10 lessons. Needless to say I quickly ended the call.

Every motorcycle school I contacted tried the same thing but to a slightly lesser degree. Then, I suddenly remembered my old instructor had said try Keith at Angel. This was straight after my first failed Mod 2 test. But I was so devastated at the time, none of it penetrated. So a day or so after remembering the conversation I phoned Keith (the owner). He was a refreshing change from the opportunists I had spoken to previously. I explained how I failed my Mod 2. He said I would only need a single lesson to get used to the bike and offered me a test date on the very same phone call. His rates were £10 cheaper per 2hr lesson than the '10 lesson minimum' rip off merchants (and all the others too). I found Keith to be a genuine guy and very sympathetic to my situation. He said many of his older students suffered from nerves on test day and that he and his team would never give up on me. This was massively reassuring.

A few weeks later I had Lisa for the lesson (and every lessons after). No disrespect to my previous instructors, but her knowledge and teaching method was head and shoulders above them all. I worked this out very quickly and booked more lessons to learn as much as I could from her. In fact, my cousin (who used to work for Newcastle Motorcycle Rider Training) said she was one of the best instructors in the North East. He didn't know Keith, but Lisa later confirmed both her and Keith taught exactly the same way. Lisa broke everything down into simple logical steps, regularly pulling over mid lesson to get my opinion on how and what I thought I was doing then gave a real time assessment on how I was actually performing. I found this invaluable as an in-action learner (instead of getting passive feedback back at base post lesson). She stripped away my bad habits, taught me a simpler safer way to ride the bike and how to read the road precisely. Despite my age and nervous nature (and fear of busy city centres), she managed to keep me focused and on track during lessons. Unfortunately the dreaded nerves got the best of me again and I failed my second Mod 2 test. Again accruing only one serious fault without minors. True to his word, Keith didn't give up on me and a month later I passed my Mod 2 on my third attempt, again receiving no minors. The examiner told me it was a flawless ride and I can only put this down to the excellent tuition I had at Angel.

The pass was in no small part due to Lisa's advice (after an atrocious lesson where I couldn't do anything right). She told me to ride, to jump on my 125 and literally 'get lost’ on it. That way my confidence would grow and the nervousness on test day would ease. She totally insistent on this and was absolutely right. For the five days before my third Mod 2 test, I went places on my little bike I would never have gone before. Without that intense solo adventuring I don't think I would’ve had the confidence to finally pass. So thank you Lisa for that gem of advice and all the wisdom you imparted during our lessons. And thank you Keith for believing in my ability to pass and not giving up on me. I couldn't have done it without the encouragement, kindness and professionalism of you both and all the others I met along the way at Angel. I can’t put into words how grateful I am to everyone and how I feel incredibly lucky that we crossed paths. You gave me such a solid foundation I believe I’ll be safe on any bike for the rest of my time riding, and for that I’d like to give you MY SINCEREST THANKS.

To anyone searching for an honest motorcycle school in the North East with good people who really know their stuff, you simply can’t do better than these guys.
