Seriously sketchy rental company…
Seriously sketchy rental company outside the Santo Domingo airport. Poorly maintained cars not made for the pothole and speed bump littered roads of Dominican Republic. Rent a good quality SUV from a reputable company at the airport and avoid this location at all costs!
The company service agent followed up with me regarding this review. I told him that I was still owed a refund which I never received. The America car rental customer service agent did nothing.

Won't accept car rental insurance coverage!
At the counter they refused to honor my credit card car rental insurance benefits even though I printed out the eligibility certificate letter for them. They wouldn’t even look at it. They forced me to pay $23/day USD for their insurance. Their corporate office followed up with me after the rental ended and I shared this with them and sent them a copy of the credit card insurance coverage letter to which they told me that letter was fine and the counter associate should have honored it. But they refused to reimburse or refund the counter insurance fee upsell. Very poor service. Feels like they will scam you for an upsell commission. Beware! Next time I will rent from Budget instead.

Todo súper bien, se respetó el precio acorde a lo establecido en la reserva sin cargos ocultos y te da la gran facilidad de reservar y pagar hasta el momento de la entrega, además de la flexibilidad para entregar en otro punto, muy recomendable.

Fast - Easy - Great Service
My experience at America Car Rental in Puerto Vallarta was phenomenal! The moment I walked in I was attended right away. The process was very smooth and was handed the keys to my rental after a few signatures and inspection. What I most liked about the service is that the agent that attended me, recommended an affordable vehicle than what I had originally booked. The process on returning the vehicle was also very easy and fast. My overall experience with them was great and I would book my rental with them again in the future!

Sin servicio, sin reembolso, estafa.
El 13 de febrero del 2026 hice una reservación para un auto por 15 días y pagué, pedí los requisitos y según era sólo lo básico. Al llegar a agencia me dicen que necesito la CSF, Recibos de nomina, estado de cuenta bancario y que la tarjeta (Plata)que hiba a utilizar como seguro no cuenta. Entonces cancelaron la reservación y que el dinero lo reembolsaria en 3 dias, después en una semana, después en dos semanas y al final que e meses, tengo correos dónde solo dicen que lo harán y hoy 15 de junio de 2026 no he obtenido el reembolso por 6,998.40 MXN. Me siento estafada. Esta es la segunda opinión que emito en la primera si contestaron que lo revisaran y nada hasta el momento.
