Everytime I call to dispute a transaction they either force me close my account or force me to get a new card which is unnecessary. At this point I’m no longer banking with Ally.

if I could give no stars
if I could give no stars, I would! I have been banking with Ally for a couple of years now, and as soon as I can regain access to my funds, I am going to walk into a REAL bank and open an account. I have been waiting all week for a replacement debit card; was told it went out express on Dec. 10; then it went out Dec. 11, then it went out Dec. 12, turns out it hasn't even been shipped yet. I cannot access my money because there is no brick-and-mortar bank to walk into to get help. An online-only bank cannot operate by the same timelines as a physical institution. You are helpless and cut off from your funds until some non-US-citizen in some Region 10 office actually pushes the right buttons to get anything done. Never again!! BEWARE!
This company is worse then a mob loan…
This company is worse then a mob loan shark, everyone of their customer service reps are rude and arrogant, they harass your all hours of the day and will hang up on you when they call you even.
Hardship, late payments, taking days to withdrawal payment from account, and keep very bad records of received payments on their app.
I am a disabled veteran and they won't even assist me during a time when I was battling severe ailments charging me extensively in late fees and now they are repossessing my truck 13 days before Xmas
I recommend to everyone that if they approve you for a vehicle loan do not except it no matter what, try your hardest for another loan company.
CHRONICALLY LATE PROCESSING AUTOPAY PAYMENTS WHO????????? You, Ally.
Look - too many things nowadays require a subscription or payment plan or monthly charge it is unrealistic to expect people to be able to successfully manage their account balance in this economy if corporations (Ally) aren’t being prompt/timely/respectful of my time by processing these payments ON TIME. Is it too much to ask for that when we have auto-pay set up on our account that Ally process the payment and actually withdraw it from our account within a 24-48hr period OF OUR DUE DATE???? Processing people’s AUTOPAY 2-3 WEEKS AFTER the day it’s due is INSANITY. We’re all having a bad enough time out here economically without Ally doing all this crazy, unorganized business. Ally - get it together. You’re looking weak out here. I gotta worry about me and mine, I ain’t got time to deal with your inability to meet standards and expectations of a business who works with consumers finances. Ffs
I am extremely disappointed with the…
I am extremely disappointed with the level of customer service I received from Ally. As a result of this experience, I intend to move my loan to another financial institution. I do not believe this level of service reflects the standards of a professional organization. From an HR and business leadership perspective, I strongly encourage immediate review and improvement of your customer service practices, as continued deficiencies will negatively impact both your reputation and long-term business performance.
I had a terrible experience with this…
I had a terrible experience with this company. First, don’t believe or trust the recommendations you receive from Credit Karma. They informed me my odds of being able to refinance my auto loan with this company was outstanding but it was not. I applied and didn’t hear back from anyone. Then I received an email stating they could not find a lender for me and closed my application! Who does business like that? I will never apply with them again.
Pulled my payment out 2!!!!
I have had this loan only a few months. I have always paid on time. Looking at my bank account yesterday and Ally has posted my payment 2x and actually pulled my amount and telling me I can not be refunded for 10days. I called my bank to have it reversed but I’m still pissed!! Looking for another bank to refinance this ASAP.
Ally is the worst auto loan company I…
Ally is the worst auto loan company I have ever dealt with. They are very shady and lack transparency, I have a few examples.
1. They make it difficult to make a payment toward principal, extra funds defer the payment date/amount automatically. So if you bump up your monthly payment, for example from $450 to $500, the extra $50 will be deducted from your next payment due, not added directly to principal.
2. If you actually find the extra payment option, which is intentionally not easy to find, and try to make an extra payment it is referred to on their website as "the closest thing to a principal-only payment." In other words, not a principal-only payment, because they will hit you with some type of interest resulting in less than the full amount being applied toward principal (not a principal-only payment at all).
3. Amortization schedule: I could not find an amortization schedule for my loan anywhere on the site. I then tried with customer service and they said it was not available because interest is calculated on a daily basis, the best they could do was provide a statement.
I paid off my auto loan early
I paid off my auto loan early. I received an email letting me know that my title would be released in two weeks and that "While you're waiting, you can view digital versions of your title and other lease-related documents. Just log in to Ally Auto and go to Documents."
When I logged into my account, nothing was there. No statements. No documents. No record of my account at all. I couldn't even access the chat and email functions. There was just a message saying, "We've missed you, and we're glad you're back."
The email also specifically said, "Once you're logged in, you can also track the progress of your title/lien release from your vehicle details page." Again, nothing was available after I logged in.
When I called customer service to see what the problem was, they kept repeating details about the physical title being release to the RMV and that I could pick it up when it was ready. Despite the email, the representative argued with me about not being able to access ANY of my account information. I'm honestly considering a law suit to demand documentation of my payment history.
UPDATE 12/17/25:
In an effort to resolve the situation, Ally called me during work hours. The facility I work in is a phone restricted environment, so I had my auto-screener ask if it was urgent. They said yes. So I had to excuse myself from the building to answer the call, only to hear them start talking about my review. I was furious. That's not urgent. I let them know in no uncertain terms and hung up. This company needs to seriously examine their customer service and support.
A smooth, seamless experience with Ally
My experience with Ally Financial for a five-year car loan was flawless. Perfect. No problems. At all.
That is why all those 1-star reviews just don't make sense. I see virtually all are from single-review persons.
Five years ago I bought used car from a new car Buick/GMC dealership. Their default lender is Ally. I had checked interest rates beforehand and their rate was as low as any of the others. I was prepared to pay cash if the financing was not good.
Afterwards, everything went smoothly. Set up account online, set up auto pay every month, etc. Monthly emails reminding me a payment was due and subsequently that a payment had been made. Like clockwork. Each payment processed correctly. Seamless. Full information and details about payment history, account balance easily available online and were accurate.
My last payment was made this month, the loan paid off and I was likewise advised by email. As lender/lienholder, they were given possession of the paper title document. I was advised as to their procedure for closing the account and forwarding the title. The documents are viewable online. I received my title three weeks after the last payment, which was about one week after they initially indicated. Not a problem.
So my experience with Ally has been perfect. Smooth and seamless. No problems at all.
BUT ... I do have a WARNING. The finance manager at the dealer screwed up his first version of the contract. It was totally different than what the salesman and I discussed, whom he tried to blame. So READ the contract before you sign!
Situation Resolved....Previously -> This is the Dumbest Thing I've Personally Seen from a Stock Brokerage
Previously:
A few years ago, had an individual stock which plummeted to a value of $0. Fine. Basically, have just been using a buy and hold strategy and rarely had a reason to login. No shorts or trading on margin. Inexplicably, get a margin call. The offending amount: 12 cents! I find out Ally has been charging me $20 a month for "holding a non-transferrable (worthless) security." I had gotten no email notifications. The only solution they have been willing to offer is to fill out a "Penny for the lot form" so I can sell the offending stock for a penny minus the $35 processing fee. Their customer support has been an immeasurable of words saying nothing - a "**** you" in long form leaving me to guess how much of the response was AI (name signed to it or not). Their antipathy has been palpable. I told Ally I would be closing my account and leaving a one-star review if they did nothing. That had no effect. Given the general terrible ratings of the site, I can see why. I want all the fees they charged me back. If you are a buy and hold investor who hasn't logged in for a while, I suggest you login immediately to make sure you aren't getting screwed over on hidden fees. There is no way it should be legal to unknowingly get charged an indefinite amount of money for holding a worthless abstraction.
Update: Ally has allowed me to fill out a form to sell my worthless securities for a penny with the processing fee waived. They've also waived all the $20 penalties I had been charged previously. This situation is case in point that you need to stand your ground in situations like this. You can win if you apply some pressure.
I have moved my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. In all fairness to Ally, I created an account there because they had low trading fees. In that respect, they have delivered. Still, this situation was a severe annoyance and probably should not have escalated to this point, However, this exact situation would probably not come up much for other people, so Ally may be a good choice for people who trade frequently and want to save on trading fees.
The worst auto loan company
The worst auto loan company! I had a vehicle that was a total loss they added extra fees after being paid out by insurance and GAP and then reported my vehicle on my credit as a repo. They refuse to fix the issue. They won't give me a break down of charges to prove they are valid. This wrecked happened almost 2 years ago and they recently changed what they reported the vehicle under my credit.
Sent away by customer service
Paid my car off and wouldn’t release title. I called customer service and representative said it would be sent to the DMV by 5pm. Called after it wasn’t sent to find out the title department at Ally closed at 5 and was pawned off so they didn’t have to deal with my concern
Purchased a car older for $10,000 at $265.00 a month put $3000.00 down
Purchased a car older for $10,000. paid it for 2 years at $265.00 a month and the timing chain went in the engine. Kept paying for a year the price of fixing the engine outweighed the value of the car (had no car to use for 16 months while trying to pay it off). Surrendered the car in July 2025 it went to auction in about October 2025 it took them 2 months to pick up the car. The car sold for $300. and they charged me ridiculous charges for the sale of said car. As of today I just found out they charged the vehicle off. Not even giving me time to decide what to do. I owed them a little over $5,000. still there offer was pay $3000. call it even or pay the $balance monthly which both of these are out of the question. I know the car didn't sell for $300. I would have bought it for that and replaced the engine. Live and learn. Thanks for the lesson... I always remember KARMA is real.
Customer service is useless
Customer service is useless. Just like many companies, they use overseas call centers. I've been trying to work something out with them regarding my payments. I cannot refinance because my husband is MIA and they need his signature (alcohol and gambling addictions). They do not offer any helpful solutions, they put a note on the account but that does not so me any good. I'm literally trying to cover all expenses plus take care of my child because of someone else's addictions. They do not care and most of the time, they do not listen or understand what you are saying.
Won't send title
What a garbage company. Paid off vehicle 5 years early and they won't send me the title. I have to request it through the state of Florida. My local tax off.
Ally sucks
Terrible BS
This is the worst Leasing Company I've ever had and I'm almost 70 years old never use them again be careful when you turn your car in you're better off paying it off or refinancing car went to auction immediately car sold for $9, 000 only owed $11,000 on it and I was billed cracked windshield $1,500 which the quote before turning in with 325. 3 small dents and a scratch on a 4 your lease I was Bill $3200 I only owed 11,000 3200 was put on my credit report immediately appraised at the dealership 12,500 also I was told not to worry about the windshield and the three small dents it really wouldn't matter as it was appraised for more than what the balance was
Not a fair business
I've had them since we got our jeep. Never been late, infact paid extra and ahead of time. But I was late 1 time due to an autopsy mistake and they reportes it and drop my credit by 4 points... Definitely won't be using them ever again...
If I could give less than 1 star I…
If I could give less than 1 star I would they tell you some different every time when I want to pay principle my interest charges go up and down inconsistent and they are by far the worst loan agency out there they are scammers be warned I just refinanced somewhere else because I was going no where with them and I’m consistent payer who pays extra on my bill and it did not help they just took more interst
Customer service is the worst
Customer service is the worst! I spent an hour on the phone with customer service to locate my payment. I gave them all the information from my bank to show it cleared 11/05/2025 and they can't locate it. I have been using the same payment process for years. They are asking to jump through hoops. Another hour on the phone and they can't to spent another hour phone. I will never use Ally again.
Ally does unethical business
Ally does unethical business. Do not trust this bank. Ally intentionally disconnected my loan auto draft payment account after 2 years, with no warning, nor update, and reported false information on my credit report for their gain.
I obtained an auto loan from Ally. I set my payment account up for automatic monthly drafts. My account had more in it than I owed on the vehicle so I left the account on autopilot. The account was consistently paid on time every month for 2 years. Then one random day I received a notification on my credit report that my score dropped, and a late payment was added by Ally. I was in shock and disbelief, because ALL my bills including Ally were paid on time. I log into my ally account, and it was 2 months past due. I did not receive a phone call, nor email from Ally forewarning me of the past due account. I checked the bank account that my auto drafts were coming from, and nothing changed with the account. There was still more money in the account than I owed on the vehicle. I called ally and they claimed someone disconnected the auto drafts from the ally account. I hadnt logged in my Ally online account in months, and no one else was provided my login details. I immediately paid the balance due in full, and months later paid the auto loan in full. Ally claimed they'd remove the late payment discrepancy from my account, and credit report, however, 5 years later Ally is still reporting the incorrect information on my report.
Banks get paid to report negative information to credit reports.
Ally intentionally disconnected my payment account with no warning, and reported false information on my credit report for their gain. Do not trust this company.
