Would absolutely NOT recommend this mechanic. I took my car in with one issue and somehow left with multiple new problems that were never there before. Since the work was done, I’ve had ongoing issues and even discovered that a major part had been damaged during the repair process.

On top of the poor workmanship, the attitude and customer service were awful whenever concerns were raised. Instead of taking accountability, I was met with rudeness and dismissive behaviour.

I trusted this garage with my vehicle and deeply regret it. I would strongly suggest checking Trustpilot reviews rather than just Google reviews, as they seem to reflect the level of service more accurately.

Please be careful before using this mechanic, especially for major repairs.

This went from a positive experience to a negative one.

After an engine seizure on Christmas Eve on my Discovery 4, I contacted 4x4 engine rebuilds for a quote. After accepting it, my vehicle was collected the next day. Due to how busy they were, my vehicle was in the queue for three weeks. When they got the vehicle on the ramp, it was done within a week but at +£3000 more than the original price due to extras such as a new block, turbo, crank and oil cooler. All in, the job was £8.5k.

When I picked the vehicle up, it had a water in fuel warning light on. Prior to the engine seizing I had no warning lights but a diagnostic showed this warning following the seizure.

When the car was on the ramp, 4x4 engine rebuilds did another diagnostic and this fault was still present but didn't mention it so I assumed that the rebuild had sorted the issue.

After paying up, and about to drive off, this warning illuminated. I was told it needed the sensor replacing so I paid an extra £280 but the light remained on. They cleared the fault and left the engine running so the fault wasn't on when I finally drove off, only for it to come back on when I went to refuel. I was then advised to drive the car for 800 miles and the light should go off. With potentially water in fuel, this is not a good idea.

If only they had mentioned this fault whilst the vehicle was in with them, then it could have been properly diagnosed and sorted rather than me spending another £280 only for the problem to still be present.

I have contacted the company but they were not interested. They did not offer to empty the tank or investigate properly, they just went to the more expensive which didn't work as it was rushed as I had travelled to pick the car up.

As a result, I wouldn't recommend this company. I don't expect to pay close to £9k to drive off with a fault on my vehicle.

Had my Discovery 4 engine rebuilt by these after bearings went on crank Shaft.

Was 2nd cheapest quote received for an engine rebuild but chose these on there reviews.

Arranged for work to be completed by 4x4 engine rebuilds on Thursday afternoon. They had organised and got my car collected from Birmingham by Saturday morning. Was given a time frame of 10-16 working days from once they got it into work shop. This took them till the following week to get my car in (probably due to how busy they are). Was kept informed from once it entered the work shop of how progress was going daily. They also sent pictures of other defects identified whilst stripping engine out that could do with some attention. Prices for these extra works was very reasonable and also fixed a separate issue I had that was easier to complete whilst engine was out for cost of parts.
Didn’t hear off them for 2 days the following week was really surprised to then get contacted on Wednesday the following week to say all work was complete and car was up and running and that I could collect in 2 days time once they had completed some road tests.
Collected Car the following week and the engine sounds better than ever. Even getting better fuel economy now (45MPG motorway and 30MPG around town). Was given a cheat sheet on how to bed engine in and good points for future maintenance to help extend the life of the vehicle.

Received a 6 month unlimited warranty with the work.

Can’t fault the service received, the price paid or the quality of workmanship.
Knowledgeable, friendly staff, with prompt responses to enquires on quotes, organising collection of car and completing work.

Just had my discovery engine rebuilt by these guys. They are a proper professional well established business and they did exactly what they said they would do at the price quoted. They were always available to answer my questions and queries and I was sent regular updates with photo’s throughout the rebuild process . My car now drives better than ever and I can’t recommend them enough.

The sudden engine seizure of my range rover sport left me completely blindsided.

Incredibly pleased and would highly, highly recommend Ali and this company. Engine seized in March. First spoke to 4x4 engine rebuilds then and had a lot of very good, freely offered advice with no expectations from me. I had a warranty that I spent 6 months fighting who wouldn’t help me. Waste of time and money. At no point did 4x4 engine rebuilds chase me for busines.

After realising warranty wouldn’t help, contacted 4x4 engine rebuilds again. My car was in bits spread around a garage building. Ali arranged collection of everything from me 200 miles away through his contacts at a very very reasonable price. Could have collected in two days if I had been ready!!!

My car arrived with 4x4 engine rebuilds very late at night, but Ali went to the trouble to message me with pics from his security camera to let me know it had arrived safely. I then had constant updates with what was happening, anything else that needed doing (a lot!) and prices of all of this work before it was done. I checked a few prices with a local garage to be told they were very good prices.

The actual job once car had gone in was complete within 5 days - incredible. Car is sounding better than ever.

Was given a very comprehensive advice sheet for running in and after service communication - I haven’t been forgotten about straight away!!

Knowing nothing about engines, Ali was so patient with my constant, stupid questions!!! Never making me feel like I was being a nuisance which was hugely reassuring.

I was so concerned about spending a lot of money with a company I had found on google but as a business owner myself, could not fault these guys in any way and would highly recommend to anyone in the same dead engine situation as I found myself in.

My Discovery 3 2.7 V6 went in with a failed cam chain.

Ali and the team did an outstanding job not only rebuilding and restoring the engine back to life, theyve made it much more reliable and efficient than factory!

Theyve replaced the parts that have notorious faults and even the lesser known faults with stronger more durable parts! A result of this is my miles per gallon increasing from 25-30mpg to 40-50mpg! Which is jaw dropping!!

And as a pleasant extra they gave it very good wash. Now my truck is gleaming! (body and engine bay)

On collection Ali was very detailed and descriptive on how to correctly break in the engine. Its very clear they know what theyre doing, and its very important advice indeed!

All at an extremely reasonable price. When my trucks engine failed i had almost lost hope till i found these guys.

(The difference in the fuel economy makes the work pay for itself)

First made contact with them in April 2023 when my LR Disco 3 engine decided to destroy itself mid journey. Called 4 different garages in my area, who wouldn't even touch it. Another 4 to get quotes ranging from £18,000 - £2,000. The cheapest quote sounded far too good to be true and as I would find out later through my own research of companies, it was (they are also based in Barking so please be weary).

So the next best quote being 4x4enginerebuilds. I received a call form Kabir, polite and very knowledgeable over the phone. Again did the same checks for the company as I did the first and the reviews were staggering in comparison. This made me feel so much better and at ease. Especially if you check others and not just trustpilot. They had my vehicle recovered for me to their garage. I was kept up to date with pictures and they diagnosed it the next working day. Took pictures and informed me what had happened. Obviously it wasn't cheap generally, but owning a Land Rover isn't, so thats my own fault! Engine had ceased and needed rebuilding. It was my work car so couldn't afford not to have it. I got really lucky with the timing back then as it only took them around 14-18 days from receiving it to it being back on the road. Picture updates along the way and they even handled speaking to my warranty company who covered part of the cost. It was really a helping hand I needed in a pretty annoying situation.

Today January 2024, I've had several works done by them including coolant leaking into EGR valves and suspension arms and pins to pass it's MOT. Fitted me in and got me back on the road both times with in the same day (I travel, so I wait in the area). Engine has been solid since being rebuilt as well. Couldn't recommend enough and by far the best route to take for a ceased engine.

Avoid like the plague! Im not normally one for slagging companies on line, but the last six months dealing with this crowd has been horrific and still not over yet.
6 months and returned my Range Rover Sport 4 times, at this present moment it is at their yard broken again!
I have driven the vehicle for a maximum of 7 days total in 6 months between total engine failures. They are financially motivated but not keen on honouring their warranty agreement if the vehicle goes wrong.
I read all the positive reviews before employing them for a complete engine rebuild, turbos and injectors. It seems that a change of management occurred in the last six months, not for the better. They do not accept payment by card so makes it harder to claim back if you have an issue. They use re conditioned engine parts but in their terms and conditions state they are not liable if they fail (completely against consumer law). I have never experienced a vehicle repair company like it in my 55 years. Total bluffers in every way, no reports on what the failures were, no feed back on progress or completion dates, trying their best to get out of spending any money to recover the vehicle or replace failed parts. They employed a third party engineer to write a report on how good the vehicle was then it failed 24 hours later, plus diesel knock, injector failure and bad turbo lag. If it sounds too good to be true, it is....currently preparing to take them to court for the 9k plus i have wasted with this company.
Update: After a series of threats to charge storage on the vehicle even though it was in their yard after warranty repairs, threats to file counter court case claims and general unpleasant attitude towards a "troublesome customer" i paid £500 to have the vehicle returned to me in West Sussex. Needles to say the vehicle is still not right, still rattling like an old transit with oil or diesel spewing out of somewhere.I am genuinely at a loss what to do with this poorly rebuilt vehicle now.
Do not waste your time and money with them.

I booked my evoque in for a reconditioned engine due to timing chain failure. During the process of this I was kept up to date the whole time by the team who went above and beyond with the repairs for my car, and sent photos from start to finish. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Ali and team!

Great job of getting my Discovery back on the road after the engine failed. They quickly arranged collection and then worked through getting the replacement parts, keeping me updated all the way through with WhatsApp pictures of progress. The experience of having to have an engine rebuilt may not be one I would like to repeat but Ali made the process as smooth as possible, I would go back again, and recommend anyone else in the same situation to give them a call.

I went to 4x4 Engine Rebuilds when my 2012 RR Evoque engine seized. Faisel was a true gentleman, quoting lower than local companies to me and he stuck to that quote. He kept me updated with photos and I am over the moon with the results. I would wholeheartedly recommend 4x4 Engine Rebuilds, they are a very professional knowledgeable company. Range Rover Sport, 3 Litre Diesel, 2015 Model - Auto-biography - 28,000 Miles
Engine failed without warning doing 50mph through the road works of the M27 justy before christmas.
No lights came up on the dash, everything immediately locked up, wheels wouldn’t turn, and engine wouldn’t re start. Oil everywhere on the road & in the engine compartment.
Apparently the oil pump failed, this is well documented on the web but Range Rover wouldn’t accept any liability as the warranty had run out. They quoted me £8K + VAT for a new engine & £10K + VAT to fit it. Also, any other ancillary equipment if required would be at an extra cost.
I contacted Ali from 4x4 Engine Rebuilds. He wasn’t the cheapest but he seemed the most genuine on the phone and really his reviews helped me choose his services.
I am so glad I did.
He took the engine out, stripped it down & rebuilt it with new internal parts. He also had to replace all the fuel injectors, the oil cooler & both primary & secondary turbos.
Ali kept me informed with photos & progress reports throughout the entire process.
It’s been 7 months now and have had no problems whatsoever. Running better than it ever has.
His final price turned out to be about a third of the price quoted from the dealership & that’s with the extra parts included.
I would highly recommend these guys. They are very knowledgeable and leading experts in their field. Just brilliant.

Had a missfire issue on my rangie back in late feb ....after calling the AA and being told it was due to a serious engine prob i decided best place to have it taken to was my local landrover main dealers lookers and get the experts to sort it..........OMG how much did i regret that decision......in short there abt as much use as tits on a fish..!!....unhelpful , unsure abt the repairs ,cant be arsed to inform u of anything and then lump u with a massive bill for doing nothing ......unfortunatly my car got locked in on the 23rd of march when landrover ran for the hills ......so i got on the net and found Ali and his brother...enginefitters uk......quick sencible quote ,arranged collection and helpful.
as soon as i cld i got the car released and over to them.....im a fussy sod with my cars and had checkd all the reviews out and even then thought surely they cant be this good........but boy was i proved wrong .!!....car was taken in and from that moment the info started to flow....constant pics every step of the way on what why when and how ....2 weeks later ...boom car off the ramp purring like a kitten, clean and all in good order....the standard of workmanship is mind blowng and the made the so called experts look like amatures......If yr reading this and looking to get yr landie fixed ....stop reading and call these guys you will never look back .!...outstanding service ..outstanding workmanship and 2 outstanding guys .....!
