This company is merely a one man band…
This company is merely a one man band broker who lures you with a lovely European lady on the phone at the outset . In our experience everything is possible until the owner, Kumar, gets you to part with an excessive amount of money under the guise of ‚templating’ Then the lines blur and costs increase spuriously.
A more worrying issue is that if you’re unlucky enough to have a problem with the fitting of the stone, and there have been many, the owner abandons his responsibility.
After such an experience I reverted to the credit card company by way of a ‚chargeback’ who reviewed photographic evidence and an independent report both of whom agreed that the stone work in our kitchen was finished in a poor and unprofessional way.
The credit card company couldn’t get Work Tops to return and repair the poor finish. So having settled directly for the repair, we imagine the credit card company will now get recompense of that cost through their credit card relationship with Work Tops so they will hopefully pay in the end!
Our experience of Kumar’s ( the one man band owner) ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ approach is one of being cleverly polite in writing and completely the opposite when connecting by phone , when he intimidates and belies. Not an experience we would recommend you put yourself through!
Maybe pay a little extra elsewhere, as you’ll end up paying it to Work-Tops in any event once he has your deposit…possession being 9/10th etc!
Ps. As with previously dissatisfied customers we expect to get a polite deviant response to this review …. Totally misrepresenting the actual events of this regretful relationship! Beware !
In essence, YOU need to decide whether a dissatisfied 15% of customers (see review stats) of those that bother to post a review, is a risk worth taking together with that of being intimidated and let down by this unprofessional operator.
Finally, we didn’t receive the 25 year guarantee promised despite a number of requests!

From the outset, your project was handled with full transparency and professionalism. This is supported by extensive documented communication, including quotations, slab selection approvals, videos, and your in-person visit to the supplier facility prior to confirming the material. All specifications, costs, and timelines were clearly agreed in writing before proceeding.
The templating fee and subsequent payments are standard industry practice and were fully explained and authorised by you in advance. The project including templating, fabrication, delivery, and installation was completed in line with the agreed scope and timeline. You also expressed satisfaction upon completion and confirmed this during our communication.
Following completion, you confirmed acceptance of the work in writing. When a concern was later raised, we responded promptly and arranged a revisit to review the matter. At no point was responsibility avoided, and we remained engaged throughout.
It is important to clarify that the concerns raised occurred some time after completion and relate to expectations beyond the agreed scope. Additional requests related to decorative or finishing works, which are not part of our service offering, were clearly communicated as outside the original agreement.
Regarding the chargeback, this was initiated despite the project being completed and accepted. The matter has been addressed through the appropriate channels, and the claim was rejected by the card provider on two occasions. As there have been repeated attempts to dispute the transaction, the matter has now been formally referred to our legal team for resolution.
We strongly reject any suggestion of unprofessional conduct, intimidation, or misrepresentation. Work-tops.com operates on clear processes, written approvals, and documented agreements to ensure transparency and accountability for all parties.
We remain committed to maintaining professionalism and addressing matters based on facts and documented evidence.

Time wasters
Time wasters. I provided all of the information they asked for. Measurements, type of stone, colour, location of install.
And they couldn’t give me a quote. Just kept stringing me along.
Response to work-tops reply:
I sent you a detailed diagram, with dimensions and corner profiles. This was created by a templater from another company, so I’m unsure what final layout confirmation you needed.
You definitely didn’t ask for clarity on the layout.
You also never asked me about access.
If you needed additional information you could have just asked. Instead you strung me along and wasted my time.
I get the impression you’ve spent longer on your reply to my review than you did to my request for a quote.

Excellent company, I would highly recommend. Kumar was incredible in sorting out any problems or issues, I would never go direct to a fabricator after using worktops. They are the go between and get far better deals on the stone and act as an intermediary between yourself and the fabricators.

Terrible experience - avoid at all cost
Terrible Company – Dishonest, patronising & Unprofessional.
We had an awful experience with this company and with Kumar in particular. After we decided to buy only one type of worktop, they suddenly inflated the price by nearly 200%, sending us different invoices and making the purchase impossible.
When challenged, Kumar was rude, bullying, and completely unprofessional. Worst of all, he has refused to return our £500 deposit, which we consider stolen money.
Thankfully, we contacted the manufacturer directly who recommended a reputable supplier. Not only were they far cheaper, but they were also a thousand times more professional. We didn’t even need to pay a deposit — only after the job was done. We are now delighted with our beautiful new worktop from them.
This company, and Kumar especially, should be avoided at all costs. Do not trust them with your time or money.

Initial Enquiry:
You first contacted us on 21 May 2025 regarding Absolute Black Granite Polished 30mm and Elegant Grey Honed.
Payment & Templating:
On 24 July 2025, you made a payment of £480 via BACS. This payment was not a deposit; it specifically covered the cost of the templating service.
Templating is a skilled and labour-intensive process carried out at your property to ensure the worktops are cut and fitted accurately. Our team completed this service on 25 July 2025, and, as with any professional service, this charge is non-refundable once delivered.
Slab Viewing & Material Change:
On 28 July 2025, we arranged a slab viewing at our warehouse, after which you decided to change your selection to Indian Jet Black Premium Granite Polished 30mm and Eclipse Granite Dual Finish 30mm. Naturally, these changes impacted the pricing, and we explained this in detail to you on multiple occasions.
Order Progression:
You accepted the revised pricing and authorised us to proceed. The supplier then delivered the slabs to our factory, where they were held at our cost for over a week while awaiting your payment clearance. Later, you informed us of financial difficulties and requested further material swaps, which resulted in repeated changes, additional costs, and delays.
Our Advice:
We consistently advised you to finalise one material choice to keep the project straightforward and cost-effective. Unfortunately, you were unwilling to proceed on that basis. At this stage, it was not possible to reduce the pricing further while maintaining our quality standards.
Refund Request:
You then requested a refund of £480. However, this was not possible because the templating service had already been completed. This fee was for work delivered, not a holding deposit. In addition, you remain liable for supplier delivery and return costs.
Conclusion:
It is not correct to state that money was “stolen” or that we acted unprofessionally. You paid £480 (not £500 as claimed) and received the full templating service. At all times, our team acted with professionalism, providing clear explanations and multiple options to help you make an informed decision.
We regret that you chose not to continue with us, but we must stand by our policies, which are fair, transparent, and consistently applied. Work-Tops.com serves many satisfied customers who value our expertise, clear communication, and quality workmanship.
