Worst company to deal with
I have never written a review but this made me upset. This company will take advantage of you. My parents and I operate a farm and have been with this company since 2018. Waste management took place of our old garbage business so we never really did shop around (and unfortunately we trusted that the new business who took over would be an honest company like the previous). We thought the bills were always kind of high but didn’t really say anything. We started looking into other garbage businesses in our area. For a 2 yard dumpster Waste Management is billing us about $200 per pickup every couple months, because we were on call pickup. If we called when the dumpster was getting full and they didn’t show up in a reasonable amount of time we would get an overfill charge. What really got me angry is when I tried to cancel. They came back with a new price to try and keep us as customers. The price they came back with was around $42 per pickup. THEY HAVE BEEN CHARGING US 4 TIMES THIS AMOUNT FOR HOW LONG!? What a bunch of crap. I called and Gary explained that I was always able to call and discuss the bill if it gets too high. We never knew this was a negotiable bill (because almost no bills are negotiable). I assume we get a fair bill for the service and that’s that. I mean my mistake for not seeing that in the agreements but that is ridiculous! I did check the statement and there is nothing on there about being negotiable. It was only in the original agreement when we started service. Who does billing that way!?(So there is no straight forward pricing, some people get it cheaper and others pay a large amount). WHAT A JOKE! On top of that when I told him I would like to cancel he then tells me it will be another $300 to pick up the dumpster! And I have to write a certified letter and then wait 90 days. So after overcharging us for multiple years, they now want us to pay them $300 to pick up the dumpster! I told them I will drop it off because I’m not paying that. There is a Facility within 10 min of us and he said that’s not how it works. THIS COMPANY IS CROOKED AND WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. What happened to just good honest billing. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

reasons we left
Ok,,,, The negative actions started months ago when they were raising our rates everytime a bill was due, Add to that poor service, missed pickups and notes left on the cans as to what was wrong with where we put the cans. So we decicded to go with someone else so we cancelled our service and they wanted us to pay $75 per can to pick them up just like we had to pay to get the cans in the first place.
I do not recommend!! Anytime something went wrong with a trash pick, the represenative treated me like I was the one who did something wrong.

Disrespectful and mean!
Driver in Santa ana got out of his truck pulled 3 bags of trash in garbage bags out of the bin and left them on the street. Refused to take them. Owner is a 85 year old widowed woman living alone! These are the people we're paying as a community!

Leaving 1 star as there is no option for 0 stars. In the short time we have had WM service my bill went from $30 a month to $83 this month and $74 last month. $20+ “fuel charges”. They skip picking up recycling seems every 2-4 weeks stating inaccessible yet the trash truck had no problem picking up. Don’t even attempt the live chat it will get you nowhere but the runaround. When I called in, it was the run around too. When I called back I was told by the manager I would get a two week credit for the 2 of 6 failed pick ups. That discount never came. When I inquired after receiving a bill $10 higher than the previous month to find out where my discount was I was told I need to call back.
Kicker is my son lives next door, $36 bill, no fuel charge. Same service, same cans. My neighbor on the other side, just quit due to failed pick ups and the nonstop rising bills

Awful company
Awful company! My own fault for not doing my due diligence, they caught me while I was stressed starting a new business. Specifically said on the phone I am only at the shop evenings and weekends, somehow she got me to agree collections 10am - 2pm which is impossible. I requested to cancel and my calls were supposedly listened to but no help and I now have to pay £350 to get out of a contract.
A bin I didn’t order was delivered and is in the way for weeks with no date of collection! I am beside myself starting a new business having to pay them out for nothing.

Extreme spike in their annual increase rates
They increase their prices like 25% per year and then when you ask for adjustments, if you’re lucky you’re with an account assistant, that is nice if you’re not lucky, you will end up with a passive aggressive one who’s just trying to put you down and tell you how lucky you are that you have a Waste Management account! unfortunately I have a contract with them. I have to stay till next year, but I’m done with this company after that!

Just called and was put on a LONG hold several times, the automated answering service is terrible. But, eventually on my 3rd attempt, I was connected to Josh from the Retention Team. He was attentive, kind, professional and handled my issue swiftly. He merits some kind of recongnition. After talking to account manager about pricing, they got my bill close to where I wanted it to be. I have a 2 yard dumpster, they only emptied half of it. When I called to get the rest picked up they said they couldn't do it because it was yard waste. I can't imagine a very small amount of yard waste being so dangerous to dump sites that they can't dump it there. They have pretty much cornered the market. Almost all smaller trash companies are affiliated with WM some how. Trying to call them and make a complaint is nearly impossible, their automated system is unbelievable. When you call customer service you shouldn't have to go through an 7 minute ordeal before you can actually talk to a human being. Just remembered 1st time I called the account manager was trying to tell me the main reason for price increase was due to fuel cost, repairs on trucks and training processes. What kind of company passes them fees to their customers ?

I think company is absolutely the worst in Clatsop county. Missed a pick up because of new driver. Asked for a pickup same day after calling, she said she’d send driver back to pick up. No pick up. Next day call again,now they want to charge me extra to pick up. Then she changes her mind and says there’s no one to pick up. Unbelievable service, no service. Absolutely disgusting customer service.

We have used this WM for over 20 years…
We have used this WM for over 20 years and after all the changes that this company has made, I no longer recommend them at alI!!! have updated my review to reflect so that anyone considering them reads these reviews and reconsiders. They have got to big as a company and now they provide MINIMAL services! Can’t leave extra bags by can anymore (had been doing that for YEARS). You are much better off choosing one their many competitors who actually get out of the truck if needed to grab bags.

Nightmare: unreliable service, horrible customer service, waste of time & money
My former neighbors left their bins in my garage when they moved and it has taken me MONTHS to get a hold of WM to get them picked up and removed. I have spent HOURS on the phone with them trying to schedule a pickup. When it's scheduled, they never come. Then I call, wait on hold forever until I finally get a rep and am told that they supposedly came and the bins were not there when my current neighbors use the same service (WM) and had their bins out the same day it was scheduled and their trash was picked up so how did WM pickup not see the bins for pickup right next to the neighbors bins and right next to the mailbox with the service address. Then if you try to reach their customer service by chat, they literally end the conversation if you don't respond within 60 seconds. When you can rapidly write them back before they end your conversation, they tell you 'we can't schedule pickup of bins through chat'. I cannot believe I have spent hours and months dealing with this company just for a bin pickup for an account that was not even mine to begin with. It only gives me insight into what being a customer would be like. It's so much better to chose a smaller, local company than a big corporate chain that is disorganized, lack competent customer service and charges money despite not providing the service you're paying for.

Unprofessional Service
I enrolled in email payment reminders with Waste Management but never received any notifications. As a result, my account accrued late charges that could have easily been avoided.
When I called to resolve the issue and politely asked to speak with someone who could assist with removing the fees, the representative (Divina) hung up on me. That’s extremely unprofessional and not how customers should be treated.
I’m trying to bring my account current and enroll in autopay to prevent future issues, but I can’t do that until these charges are addressed. Customers shouldn’t be penalized for a failure in the company’s own notification system.
I’m hoping someone from Waste Management can review this situation and make it right. I’m happy to update this review if the issue is resolved.

Hdden fees and continual price gouging
We were notified that our bill would go up by $26 every quarter and it's already went up to over $107 per quarter. We compared rates and were quoted $93 for recycling and waste pickup every week buy another company. we're called to talk to customer service because we have been long-term customers of waste Management with overall satisfaction... when I inform them of the price difference they said that was the best they could do. okay then I'll have to cancel. thank you for the service you have given me. I said. she proceeded to tell me there was a $75 charge for picking up the containers. what?.. so don't go with this company because they seem to gouge you at step of the way. always being kind and considerate of missed pickups and or delays? this company has truly lost its vision in serving a community. I can understand why there are so many neighbors switching?.

Last Thursday March 12th trash day
Last Thursday March 12th trash day, regular trash and yard waste were set out the day before as usual for Thursday pick up this happens at around 7 am for both. I'm in a mobile home park and for some reason unexplained the driver didn't pick up regular trash for units #114,115,116,117 and 118. We are still waiting as of this writing at 11:17 a m on Tuesday March 17th 2026. I ve went on my account for missed pickup got confirmation email with order number last Thursday just after 5pm so I called Saturday morning before 11 am was told they have 24 to 48 hrs to respond with missed pickups. I shared that every other space had their trash picked up except for 114,115,116,117 and 118. The lady, Kristina said it was early enough and she'd email dispatch and get back to me. Nothing happened. Yesterday, Monday March 16,2026 at 445pm I called the 800 number after the automated system refused to accept the answers to it's questions it transferred me and then hung up on me . I called the local number same stuff go to transfer to a human and no music just dial tone. 3rd time and it's 457 pm screaming this time for human , finally got one Bree, she listened, had no reason why pickup wasn't made , agreed the online system showed was picked up. The rest of the park of over 300 spaces was picked up by the regular trash man because at 7 08 am on March 12th a friend who lives in back row spoke with him as he emptied her trash.. Bree said she would work behind the scene to get this fixed. I just talked with neighbors at 115 who called twice and 117 who called and nothing has happened. I will probably see a comment from WM to send details to their support email, why? You have my name from this review, I live in sunny ,clear 90 degrees Palmdale, California. You have 4 calls that are recorded with all the information you need to fix this you just need to do it . What might get WM a better review from customers is to send the general manager out behind a special trash truck with a sign saying (we messed up on the side of it and that manager to Personally go and apologize to the customer with a clear explanation as to what happened) Then maybe they might get a 2 in a review. With all the unemployed people in the United States and waste management has missed pickups for 5 spaces in a low income mobile home park and charges seniors $96.30 for 3 months service (with senior discount) and after 6 days still can't fix the problem by just picking up the trash.

I’m adding to my recent review of this corrupt company. The ONLY reason they responded and finally canceled my service is because I filed a complaint with the BBB! They finally picked up the receptacle this morning…. Good riddance! And to top it off, my next door neighbors who also use them said they are only paying $33 and there are 2 of them and a child so their can is always super full! Mine was about half full and I was paying $42!!!!!! WORST HORRID COMPANY EVER!!!!!

I have waste management as my contractor to pick up trash for my retirement community of 100 + homes every week they miss pickups I see them sleeping in their truck down the street. Calling their customer service does absolutely no good at all they say they're going to elevate it to management so that the service will be improved or they'll at least come and pick up the garbage that's been sitting on the curb for a week. It never happens. I wish there was another trash company for Melbourne Florida because they are absolutely the worst protection. There's barely a week that called goes by that I don't have to call to complain because they never showed up for the service this has been going on for years!
