Winston Privacy Omdömen 

Installed the Winston Privacy Device a few weeks ago... and I'm PLEASED with it's performance so far: It's hard to believe how much junk it can block. I like the fact at how it changes my up address and location every 10 minutes, as well as encrypting everything. I also like the Fact that Unknown Users CANNOT Track my Online surfing!

I never write reviews, but this little device does exactly what it says it does. Right out of the box, easy to install, and BAM... All of my new sites, etc., were faster. I'm having fun with the dashboard. No issues with my work VPN, Apple Music, Nest, etc. What a difference.

I’m a bit of a self-proclaimed techie and am always shopping around devices and services and when I stumbled upon Winston I knew I’d hit a real treasure. This little square contraption looks modern and covertly prevents all those data trackers from listening into the internet activity in my household. It is so non-invasive that unless I didn’t see it next to my router, I wouldn’t know it was there. However if you go into the Winston Portal it’s amazing to see just how much it is doing behind the scenes in order to provide internet privacy in the home. Can’t wait for the mobile app!

It took me about 6 minutes from being eaten alive by thousands of information piranhas to no longer existing. I always wondered how my computer screen would be filled with ads pertaining to what medication my doctor had just prescribed. Companies were essentially reading my prescription and medical records. Winston put a stop to that in a nanosecond. What Winston has created is phenomenal. Their support staff is head and shoulders above any I have used. Just amazing.

Having been a bit skeptical that Winston could do all they advertised it would do when we got it, this device is hands-down the best device we have added to our home! Seeing all the crap that it blocks and filters is crazy! With multiple computers, TVs, and smart devices in our home, not to mention the online gaming that is my daily stress relief, we feel much safer with Winston watching out for us!

I love my Winston. I did a lot of research on internet privacy devices and I was a little skeptical of Winston at first because I had seen some concerns about customer support during my investigations. However, none of the competition could match the functionality of Winston so I went with it. Set up was ridiculously simple and I was up and running in less than 15 minutes. During the first week I had a couple of issues come up that required me to reach out to Winston tech support. In both cases my issues were addressed and resolved within 24 hours. Needless to say, I no longer have any concern about customer support and am elated about the device and the Winston team! Look no further, I already did the leg work for you...you can't go wrong with Winston!

Have had winston for a few months. As a cybersecurity professional an ex hacker this device is super awesome. Sure one could make their own firewall and rules ect and adblockers and buy a vpn but this is so easy to use. Have had only a few issues which were simply fixed by just hard resetting my router and or winston device. Customer support was there when i needed it the one time and i fixed the issue myself anyways. The mesh network (VPN) is great as the nodes are close to your location and speed i dont see any decrease. Where as using "tor" nodes these are slow and blocked/blacklisted by many websites already. The amount of filters, modules that are auto-updated and added new are great to use. Sure some may have trouble tweaking their settings to get it to perfection but this is a great hardware firewall and so much more! Looking forward to the mobile app to connect remotely!

Really bummed out to be honest. They are very tricky with their advertising and make it appear as though you pay $129 for the router and service. But once you get the router it's useless until you pay an additional $120 for a full year of service. This thing is not worth $240 at all. I could get multiple vpn routers and a Tor router wired all together for that price. At least allow people to pay monthly or you're going to hurt your business. I will unfortunately be returning mine. It's not worth the upfront cost.

So far so good... I think!! I don't know a ton about network security so I am learning and trusting its doing its job... I am hoping to learn more about how to fine-tune the Winston to my needs!

Zero customer support. Tried many times to get questions answered with zero responses except for received ticket number.

I got in on the ground floor with Indiegogo and got my unit a while back. When I first set it up I was really impressed. I'd been using a competitor (also from Indiegogo) and the features and controls are so much better. The modules make it easy to allow things like Amazon, Netflix, Ring, etc. through the firewall. They are adding new modules on a regular basis so as things change and new services come up your firewall won't get outdated and block something you'd really rather they didn't. I did have an issue with my unit, and after contacting tech support they were able to resolve my problem and get me back protected. There are other companies out there, but my experience with Winston overall has been such and the device itself works well so why would I need to switch? Do yourself a favor and get one of these to protect yourself and your data, you'll be glad you did.

Takes a little bit of patience to get it going, but it's a really interesting and cool product. What is described as a monthly service fee is actually billed all at once, which is something to be aware of. Regardless, I plan on keeping mine and am excited to see how they continue innovating the device and the service.

I bought a unit early and and several problems related to poor performance and buffering. After working with support over many months, support decided my unit was defective and decided to replace it under warranty and free of charge.

I call that great service.

Slowed network down.
Spent most of the time disabled during our trial period.

First off, it does what it says it does: keeps your internet private, reduces ads to almost zero, and gives you peace of mind. I had some impact to internet speed at first, but they must have worked that out, now my internet is blazing fast. Customer support is fast, friendly and most importantly competent. A lot (most?) of the technical jargon goes over my primitive head, but that's why their great customer support is so important. And something like whitelisting a website -- allowing it to flow smoothly and quickly -- is easy peasy.

Best purchase I've made in ages. Can't recommend enough.

Following their setup, I configured Winston with my router and my internet went down. Only method I could find to contact them was email, they told me to disable IPv6. I followed up multiple times asking if the VPN I use for work had to be disabled permanently for this to work but received nothing except emails stating my case would be closed if I don’t reply.

I finally purchased a router so I could hook my work computer directly to modem and everything else to router going through Winston. Add another $100+ to get this working and now I can get to the internet, when it works. Unfortunately my internet keeps going down completely until I remove Winston and then my internet is fine.

Took me over 30 days by the time I tried working with their support, did my own troubleshooting and bought and configured the additional hardware, only to find it is a useless POS and now I can’t even return it. Sadly, the person who recommended this failed to tell me he returned his after recommending it to me.
