Windsor Cabs
Windsor Cabs – (though this may be a generic trading name as it is impossible to find a legitimate website for this company).
A case study in how to lose a customer (and their trust)
02.07.2026
Reached out to Windsor Cabs while planning our stay at Sofitel Heathrow after a cruise. Asked for rates and availability.
02.08.2026
They replied promptly and professionally: “We would be delighted… will confirm availability with a fixed quotation.” Great start.
02.10.2026
We confirmed our booking in writing: transport to and from Sofitel Heathrow to Windsor Castle for our 10:00 am timed entry on April 20, plus an inquiry about Oxford.
02.11.2026
They responded: “A 9:30 pickup works perfectly…” — effectively acknowledging and agreeing to the plan.
03.28.2026
We followed up to add another trip (Kew Gardens).
No response.
04.02.2026
Followed up again.
Still no response.
04.16.2026
Out of nowhere—over two weeks later—they ask for a contact number for the April 20 pickup. I provided it immediately and noted the previous unanswered emails.
No reply. No acknowledgment. No apology.
04.20.2026 (Day of service)
We waited in the Sofitel lobby early, watching other cars come and go.
No Windsor Cabs.
10 minutes after the scheduled pickup, we were forced to scramble for alternative transportation. By the time we secured another driver, we missed our prepaid 10:00 am Windsor Castle entry.
No call. No message. No explanation. No accountability. I sent them an email cancelling because they were late and expressed disappointment. Still, no response.
What’s most telling: our replacement driver wasn’t surprised. Apparently, this isn’t unusual.
Bottom line:
Windsor Cabs had multiple opportunities to confirm, communicate, and recover—and failed every single time. If reliability, professionalism, and basic courtesy matter to you, avoid this company.
You only get one chance to make a first impression. Windsor Cabs didn’t just miss it—they never showed up for it. Even more telling, every email from Windsor Cabs was unsigned—no name, no accountability, just “Windsor Cabs.”
