Villageshopbicycles Omdömen

Friendly, efficient, trustworthy & good value.

Fantastic shop and an incredibly kind and helpful owner! My Special Pashley is magic- thank you!!!:)

I found Village Shop Bicycles through the University of Oxford website (via an older PDF flyer available online). Overall, my experience was great. The price was significantly better than buying locally in Oxford, delivery was fast, and the bike (while clearly refurbished) was very well-maintained. I also took advantage of their option to sell the bike back for half of what I paid, which worked out brilliantly (essentially like a low-cost lease).

I had two minor setbacks during my time with the bike, though neither affects my rating as they were independent of the shop's service. First, I ordered an Oxford Shackles D-Lock with the bike (fairly priced, and I received half back upon resale). However, I didn't love the lock itself—it jammed frequently despite oiling and broke after about a year. Second, the handlebars came loose once after the initial guarantee period (they give you at least a month to test the bike). It was a quick fix caused by heavy daily riding in various weather conditions, and I tightened it myself without issue.

Overall, highly recommended for students or anyone needing a practical, budget-friendly bike scheme

Richard/Village Shop Bicycles is a breath of fresh air: excellent, quick responsive customer service and a good bike at a good price, which was delivered on time, as agreed. I'm happy to thoroughly recommend.

Highly recommend! I was very pleased with the speed of the delivery, the quality of the bike, and it was nice to meet Richard :)

Brilliant experience buying my Specialized Allez from Village Shop Bicycles. Richard was great to deal with, excellent communication throughout. The bike arrived safely, exactly as described and rides perfectly. Great price and great service — thank you!

I'm sure the bike rack's a good 'un but no news of it since bought.

Richard is a very caring, helpful and supportive man. I bought a second hand bicycle from Village Shop (and a one month warranty)and he helped at everytime I have problems with the bicycle. I suggest everyone in Oxford to contact with this man who is looking for a second hand bike !!

Really great service and really pleased with the bicycle. Thank you

Very helpful and provided brilliant bike,

Very good value for money. Over the past few years, I've turned into a reasonably mediocre age group triathlete, so I do prioritise having a very good bike to ride on, but refuse to pay thousands of pounds on a carbon bike. Richard sold me one of the lightest aluminium bikes ever made (Principia...from the country that invented aluminium) at a very good price, and so far, it's served me brilliantly. He's selling very good second hand bikes, is very responsive, and is always ready to help fix stuff if needed. These days, I don't see myself buying bikes from anyone else.

Richard was really friendly and helpful. He provided a reconditioned bike for my Son to use at University. Good value and well maintained bike. Highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a well prepared reconditioned bike.

I’m very happy with this purchase. The gears shift smoothly and the brakes are responsive, making it a reliable choice.

For the price, I think it’s a great value. I’ve been using it regularly, and so far it has exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend!

This is the second time I've bought a bike with Richard and both times have been great. Richard was very helpful and responsive with communications. When delivery for the bike I purchased was delayed, he even arranged an interim loan bike that saved my work week. Have recommended him to all my friends - excellent service for Oxford and surrounds.

Richard had kept my old bike running for years with frequent transplants of second-hand parts. When it was time for a full replacement, he found an excellent fit for my needs, and refurbished it to ‘good as new’ standard. Super service, very reliable and affordable

A wide range of bikes to suit your needs, free delivery and great service would definitely recommend 👍🏻

This shop is a hidden gem.... friendly and incredible customer service.
My son and grandson had picked bikes out online, made an appointment, then tried them out..... and bought both.
I came along for the visit, had not previously picked out a bike and inquired if there might be one available.
Owner took measure of my size, searched for 10 minutes in his rear shop and produced a nearly new GT for me to try...
Left bike for a few days so it could be serviced and was very, very appreciative that he could deliver it.

I truly appreciated this owner's effort to accommodate me on the spot... though in the future I promise to go online!
The whole family loves their new bikes!
Many thanks!

Excellent service - good advice and high quality bike in very good condition delivered to my home.
Would highly recommend.
