Subject: FORMAL COMPLAINT – Defective Product & Unlawful Refund Conditions – Order: UMAY 2.5HP Treadmill
Dear UmaySports GB Customer Service,
I am writing to formally complain about the way my order and refund request have been handled, and to demand the immediate processing of my full refund.
On 14 May 2026, I received the UMAY 2.5HP 10KM Treadmill I ordered from you. Upon inspection, I found the item was defective – the running belt had an indentation, and the machine made loud, abnormal noises, clearly making it unfit for use. The following day the machine would not work at all. I documented these issues with photos and left an honest 1‑star review detailing the faults, as is my right as a consumer.
In our conversation, you explicitly agreed I am entitled to a refund. You stated clearly:
"The machine in question does not need to be sent back. You can handle it yourself. We can apply for a full refund for you."
However, despite accepting the item is defective and agreeing to a refund, you have refused to release my money unless I delete my review, stating:
"Can you delete this first, because we need the deleted voucher to submit the finance."
This behaviour is unlawful, unethical, and a breach of my statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
• You cannot legally or contractually make a refund conditional on me removing or altering an honest review.
• Your claim that your finance department requires proof of deletion is entirely fabricated and has no basis in law or standard business practice. It is simply an attempt to silence a dissatisfied customer and hide poor service/product quality.
• I have every right to leave public feedback about my experience, and doing so does not remove my right to a full refund for faulty goods.
They have still not paid me back my money and currently logged the issue with my bank as well as escalating on all platforms to ensure other people don’t make this mistake. The defective product was report same day of delivery. Umay keep delaying telling me time is runnning out, which is also bullying me into removing my post in order to get a refund.
