I purchased a hair testing kit hoping to get to the bottom of some ongoing health issues. After mentioning it to my doctor, I was advised that hair testing cannot diagnose allergies or intolerances and that these types of tests are not considered medically reliable.
I therefore decided to request a refund, and this is where my experience became very disappointing.
The advertised 14-day money-back guarantee was not what I expected. In my experience, the refund terms were not made sufficiently clear at the point of purchase. When I requested a refund, it was refused. I even attempted a chargeback through my credit card provider, but the company successfully defended the claim by relying on its terms and conditions.
My particular issue was that I had clicked an activation link in an email. Although I never submitted a hair sample, never received any results, and never completed the testing process, the company considered the service activated and refused a refund. The activation button was effectively the only action available in the email I received, so consumers should be aware of this before proceeding.
I was also automatically enrolled in a subscription linked to the app. I cancelled this immediately through both the company’s website and my card provider. If you purchase this service, make sure you understand exactly what you are signing up for and review any subscription options carefully.
I also found the marketing emails excessive and experienced difficulty unsubscribing.
If you are concerned about allergies or intolerances, my advice would be to speak to a qualified healthcare professional. In my experience, these tests were not the quick solution they appeared to be.
Overall, I felt misled by the refund process and would not use this company again.
