Ben and Aidan were the removal men tasked with moving my 89 yr old mother's belongings from Eastcote to a small village in Aberdeenshire. By coincidence Ben had moved my brother up there last year. They were polite,friendly and super efficient. They packed everything carefully and had the lorry packed and ready to leave in a few hours.
At the destination the following day they unpacked all the furniture and boxes very quickly even helping to set up furniture in rooms.
Ben and Aidan made the move stress free for all of us and I would thoroughly recommend them and A H Tripp for any removals.

We chose A H Tripp for our removals, despite being more expensive than alternative quotes, because of their reputation, the glowing reviews and we assumed that a large organisation with many years of experience would deliver on their promises. This confidence proved misplaced.
It is apparent from our experience that the approach was to pack expediently, so that some boxes were crammed full and very heavy, whilst others contained only a few light items and a considerable amount of packing paper. This careless approach was exemplified by:
- Clearance of downstairs bedroom commenced without consultation with the result that papers and other documents needed post removal were packed with their location unclear. A laptop was switched off and packed and car keys packed without consultation and the latter not yet found.
- Damage to shelving, bookcase, sofa, single bed, wardrobe through inadequate protection
- Damage to crockery and glassware
- Fixings missing for free standing clothes rail, which cannot now be assembled.
- Original oil painting jammed into packing case without covering or protection and inadequate protection for a fragile framed batik print.
A second crew had a different labelling regime from the first crew, which complicated unpacking: also careless with random packing of unrelated items (eg food with cleaning materials, single shoe with paperwork). This crew solicited tips and lunch. Despite being asked several times to protect carpets with the material provided, they failed to do so, resulting in trampled mud on carpets.
There remain items unaccounted for, some of which should be easily identified by virtue of their size eg stiff yard broom and trolley jack.
Success of a house move is dependent on shared expectations and preparations and open communication between owner and removal teams AND within teams. The office was asked before the move how we might help in this way and were told that the team would explain all on the day. That is too late. All parties are too stressed and under time pressure for that to happen satisfactorily, and in our case, we had a different packing team on the removal day and team changes on the first day. Continuity is essential.
Clearer information and advice to property owners is needed so that they can help facilitate orderly packing and subsequent retrieval of goods at destination.
We have provided feedback to Tripp and had no acknowledgement of receipt or of subsequent requests for acknowledgement. This serves only to reinforce our view that this company deserves no more than one star.

As a postscript, I notice that favourable reviews receive a 'thank you' on line. The company can't be bothered to address critical reviews, the mark of complacency.

Tripp were slightly the more expensive of the 3 removals firms we asked to quote but we were attracted by their professionalism and enthusiasm. We are so glad we chose them!
Ben and Liam were our team for the move which spanned 3 days due to distance involved. What a credit they are to the Company. Hardworking, polite, timely, professional and caring. Nothing was too much trouble and their removals experience was invaluable throughout. We have no hesitation in recommending AH Tripp for all removals requirements.

AH Tripp offered a visit to the house and provided a quick and competitive quote. We opted for the full packing service which was carried out efficiently and carefully. On moving day the team did a fantastic job and got us out quickly without drama. Unloading was equally efficient with strong lads to move things to the right locations. We used Tripp twice over the last few months. Mainly because they were the one of the cheapest within Amersham area. The first time was pretty efficient, although they did arrive a bit late and did throw boxes around a bit, but we were mostly happy with the service.

However, the second removal and service in the last month, was really disappointing for a number of reasons. There was no one to check/stand over the van which was parked on a main road to ensure nothing was taken. I had to do this, so in our opinion you didn’t send a big enough team. The first removal had someone doing this so not sure why this happened.
Then, the van broke down at the start of the journey, communication about the issue was really poor and I had to call your office to find out what was happening as we arrived at our location and were waiting for your team. If I hadn’t have called, we would t have known. I was told that I would be sent a video and photos of the items being transferred to reassure us that all items had been transported, which never happened. I had to then chase you to see these and received a single photo of your empty van, back at your depo, which provided no reassurance. You also didn’t (on both moves) document on a form/sheet items that were being removed as a record, which worried me given that you had nothing to check that all items and boxes were delivered. Several boxes and approx £536.00 worth of damage was caused, which I raised with you. You accept no liability for any of that damage as you said boxes and items were packed by us. (Check the contract as if you pack items, Tripp won’t provide you with a refund for those items) One item an expensive photo frame was badly damaged and I disputed your reply to this as we specifically asked for your team to pack it in blankets and said we didn’t want it damaging. It still arrived badly damaged and you won’t accept responsibility.

We used another removal company in recent months who were so much more professional than your company, had a checklist and handled boxes with care.

All of these issues In our opinion ultimately lie with management and not necessarily the removers themselves.

I wouldn’t recommend this company.

We had a brilliant experience with A H Tripp for our recent move. Liam and the team were very polite and efficient. We also paid for the packing service which we were very impressed with, we couldn't believe how quickly the whole house was packed up! We would certainly recommend AH Tripp to friends and family in the future.

I highly recommend using A.H. Tripp & Son. Our removal went very smoothly and the whole team were upbeat and helpful throughout. Nothing was too much trouble and they kept smiling even when we changed our minds about where things were going. A pleasure to deal with from start to finish.

Removal team were courteous and very efficient clearing our property. They arrived promptly, the house was cleared very quickly and new house filled up similarly quickly. Nothing was too much trouble. They took a lot of stress out of the move itself by their professionalism.

Fantastic, friendly team and obviously experienced. The team literally did everything for us and nothing was too much trouble.
They even visited the following day to move some heavy objects for us and clear away some of the empty boxes.

The three men that completed our move into our new home were very professional and helpful in every possible way. Nothing was too much for them. We are both 70 and to be shown such patience and kindness and respect for us and our things meant a great deal to us both.

I didn't bother to get an alternative quote but felt the price quoted was reasonable.
The service was first class, starting with the arrangements to get a survey/quote. They were always really helpful, especially me having to ask many times for availability for moving dates, which kept moving. On the day, the 3 men were brilliant, everything was no problem, they wrapped tables and settees and were careful with our possessions. They put floor protection in the new house before unloading. They tried really hard to put everything in the correct room. Anything not in the correct room was down to me. So glad I went with Tripps.

Excellent service with what can be a very stressful time, nothing too much trouble, would be my first choice if I’m in the same position again.

Tripps price was towards the expensive end of the quotes I received and I hoped for excellent service as a result. My packing was done quickly and efficiently and nothing was broken.However the removal itself was less satisfactory. Firstly many of my indoor plants and cuttings were dumped in the front garden of the property and patio where they wilted and in some cases died as a result of the heat. They were too heavy for me to move on my own.
Secondly after the furniture was in place all my other possessions were hastily moved into in my garage in random order, stacked 3 or 4 high so they I could neither reach them or see what they contained. There was a mixture of my belongings, an ironing board,stepladders, books, garden tools and in one case live plants all mixed up and only labelled on top - up to 10 ft high. There was no way to get round this to reach the walls or shelving on the outside.
After failing to open any of these I was obliged to call Tripps to come back and help rearrange these items so they I could unpack and store them. This was done very helpfully but a week after the move.
In hindsight I regret the gratuity I gave the removal team before I realised the chaotic situation they had left me in. I advise very careful supervision on removal day.

I’ve never used a removal company before, but Tripp was recommended to me by a friend at work. I’m so happy I booked with this company, Wayne and Chris helped me move and they were amazing, they took all the stress out of the day. They were professional, fun and really helpful, above and beyond what I expected. Would highly recommend and definitely use again in the future.

Tripps were the most reasonably priced out of 5 quotes and we had a complicated move into two properties and with storage in the middle. Everything was handled professionally and there wasn't one breakage. The guys on the day each time were a delight, cheerful, positive and they made it a breeze. Highly recommend them.
