: Start a site whose entire functionality is centralized tracking of watched media, including saving things to lists i.e favourites, watch next etc

: Find success offering this ability

: Make an insane amount of money by having paid memberships, this is a literal free money printing press, people give you money and the one and only upkeep cost on your end is cheap servers who don't need to host or transmit large amounts of data, just kbs of metadata and artwork

: Make logging into your site impossible by completely removing the ability to log in via password

: Replace the working, long standing, functional password loggin method with a broken email link only approach that 100% of the time does not work, clicking the link does not sign you in

: Revoke features across the board, free accounts have even more limited access than before and VIP accounts are stripped of the additional allowances that the account holders are paying for

How can people be that stupid? how is that possible? that's like your local car dealer deciding to slash all the tires of the cars they stock, smash the windows, whilst hiking up the prices and not even providing keys for the cars they sell. Im a VIP subscribers its used to be great, the new interface is just terrible. Why have they ruined it?

I have used trakt for years, used to be really good, Now it is absolutely gone down hill at high speed, they had a good thing, and now they have ruined it.

Trakt has officially become a digital paperweight. Their recent decision to restrict API connections to a single connected app completely destroys the fundamental purpose of the service.

The whole point of scrobbling is to keep your watch history and "Continue Watching" feed seamlessly synced across multiple apps. By limiting it to just one connection, they have rendered the core functionality utterly useless.

What makes this infinitely worse, is their blatantly authoritarian approach to user feedback. Instead of listening to their paying customers, they have resorted to banning, silencing, and deleting any form of constructive criticism across Reddit, their official forums, and elsewhere. They aren't interested in dialogue; they are interested in control and hiding the truth.

And let’s not forget the disastrous "Trakt V3" redesign. It gutted useful features, ruined the user interface, and made the site significantly less functional. Despite receiving overwhelmingly negative reception, they buried their heads in the sand, silenced the critics, and raised their prices!

Their userbase is now bleeding out in droves. Users are fleeing to alternatives like MDBList or Simkl - services that actually respect their users, offer reasonable pricing, and implement updates guided by community feedback.

Good riddance, Trakt. You've earned this 1-star review.

After paying for a membership that included an app and specific features, they changed the app, removed those features, and refuse to issue a refund. SCAMMERS.

The new update for free users is incredibly stupid. Trakt has become way too money-hungry, and it feels like more and more features are being locked behind a paywall. I understand needing a premium option, but taking away useful features from free users just makes the app worse. This update is a huge step in the wrong direction.

The developer stripped away a lot of the features and applied a bunch of additional limits on accounts.

This in istelf would be bad but not awful, but the way they treat the community is what troubles me the most. Users giving negative feedback on the forums are not only ignored but often have their posts removed as the developers don't want to entertain any feedback that suggests the new look isn't working.

Combined with the astronomical price increases for VIP and the careless way they treat concerns about security of third party authentication tokens, I'd strognly recommend against using this website.

They forced everyone onto v3 which is awful, they do not listen to their customers be it free users or vip users the latter pay for the service.

It was great, but now you can only connect one add-on or app to it, so it's almost useless for me. I have three devices with Kodi in my home, and I have an app on my phone to control all my lists. Now I can only use one of my Fire Sticks; the rest can't connect unless I pay almost $10 Canadian a month. This is ridiculous, considering it's been free to use for over 10 years. I will be looking for a different website to track my movies and shows.

Submitted three emails to support within 20 days and received no response and there is no way to get help for fundamental flaws in tracking. Use literally any other service. Unfortunately, the tv tracker I had been using for a decade partnered with trakt, and it has been incredibly buggy to downright unusable ever since.

Trakt was once a useful software tool i was happy to pay for. It is now useless in its current form. Despite the overwhelming negative response to the self title V3 update, the devs and their team are just ignoring the feedback, even going as far as removing comments on their own forum and blocking their customers. Here's a tip... when you remove functionality and features from software people paid you to use, you should announce those features are being eliminated and offer refunds to those that can no longer use the software for the purpose they paid for. And don't say those features are coming. the right move is to not launch a new update until all of the features that were in the old version are included in the new.

Trakt was once the best service available for tracking your TV & Movie consumption, as well as staying up to date with shows airing, fun user created lists, reviews and much more.

Unfortunately, the tale as old as time, Trakt expanded and shifted their eyes towards the bottom line.

Previously users could subscribe, and they were promised their prices would not rise. Their subscriptions would be grandfathered in. Unfortunately Trakt decided to hike their prices, a little increase? Sadly not. They chose to increase their price from $30 to $60 per year. Not only that, but anyone who was on a grandfathers in subscription, got that promise pulled from them and they would then be forced in to paying the new $60 per year.

If all of that wasn't bad enough, the developers of Trakt had the bright idea of overhauling their theme. Layout, desing, dashboard... the whole thing. Nobody asked for it, they just decided it was what was best. Thousands of users were against this, actively giving Trakt tons of feedback, telling them they did not want this. Not only did they refuse to listen, they actively removed any negative response and criticism from the forum and proactively banned users on their subreddit who spoke negatively of the product.

Trakt made a promise that current VIP subscribers would be allowed to maintain their use of the V2 theme - as of 16/07/2026 they have once again broken that promise and have forced the entire userbase on to their V3 layout that most of us do not want.

My only personal interaction with anyone from Trakt was Justin Nemeth, many years ago, who seemed to have the community at the forefront of his vision. I really just want to ask him what happened, why has this shifted, why have you done this to the community you built for over a decade? It's truly sad.

Goodbye Trakt.

Genuinely a terrible service with power-abusing admins shutting down conversations due to people being negative about their rebranding and overall destruction of the website and the communities trust.

Accidentally got 2 years of sub instead of 1,asked for a refund since it costs too much and i dont even need it so long, they dont care, not even considerung refund. Not recommended

Sin previo aviso me ha llegado HOY. 1 cargo de 56,15. Y después de mandar mail, me dicen que en su web dejan claro que no hacen devoluciones. Si no he usado sus servicios esto es legal? No hay una ley de garantía de devolución si no estás satisfecho con la compra? Y por lo visto han subido una barbaridad la cuota anual. Ha cuántas personas les habrá ocurrido lo mismo. Esto empieza a ser demasiado habitual. Son timos legales!!

Trakt’s v3 redesign is awful. It removed useful features, wastes huge amounts of screen space, and feels like it was designed only for phones while completely ignoring desktop users. Everything takes more clicks, less information is visible, and the site is just slower and more frustrating to use.

They keep deleting criticism and banning people for complaining about the redesign instead of actually fixing it. Terrible update and terrible way to treat users/customers.

One of the worst subscription service that I ever subscribe in my life … I won’t recommend this subscription even to my worst enemy….

I used to think Trakt.tv was the best site for tracking movies and shows, no doubt about it. But my experience recently has been really disappointing.

The V3 version of the site on desktop is awful.

I even made a meme post on Reddit (/r/trakt) saying that WAS the best site, but it is not anymore, and that got over 100 upvotes, and it was removed by them, which honestly says a lot about how they handle community feedback.

It’s a shame, because the platform itself used to be great. But the way they treat their community now makes it hard to keep supporting it.
