Appalling and a total rip off
Appalling and a total rip off. They use AI to write your CV without your consent and the CV was so bad I couldn't even use it as it was full of errors. Avoid this at all costs.

CV feedback is riddled with AI
I took advantage of their free CV review service, which they claim is reviewed by real CV experts. After a few hours, I received an extensive report. Within this, there were some solid points; however, when I looked closer, the text was fully written with AI. I checked this with an AI checker, and it came back with 100%. I find this ironic, given that they say in the feedback that 49% of recruiters would reject a CV for AI.
Additionally, there is a section where they have 'improved' your CV. When you click on this, it'll take you to an AI-generated updated CV with buttons to "ask an AI writer". Also kind of ironic considering they make it clear that AI is bad and shouldn't be used in CVs. Admitably while this service is free, you can't expect much, but if they had provided great feedback written by a human, maybe I would've considered paying for their services. However, I might as well just pay an AI service to give me the same feedback as them now.

DODGY Company
Underhand, not transparent, pricing practices breach UK law.
CV builder advertised as free, you then have to pay to download once you've entered all your info.
Not only that, they don't tell you it's a subscription or the subscription amount.
They are in breach of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024):
Businesses must display the total price up front, including any mandatory fees, taxes or charges.
Hiding fees until late in the checkout (sometimes called “drip pricing”) is unlawful.
The headline price must be accurate and complete so a consumer can make an informed choice

It's AI-generated slop.
Got a free CV review with them through Reed. It was clearly done by AI - submitted my CV at midnight on a Saturday night and the review was in my inbox by 9 the next morning. It had some generic tips, but was peppered with sentences that make no sense. The 'improved CV' templates were full of mistakes, invented information, and things I've never done (apparently I did "Generic Undergraduate Degree" between 2015 and 2019!). They then have the gall to tell you to avoid using AI to make your CV because "recruiters can tell". Obviously it's to encourage you to use their paid service, but I have zero confidence in it after the free experience.
Haven't stopped getting emails from them since, and I've also been receiving job alert emails from multiple job board websites I never signed up for - not sure if it's related but it started at the same time.

cV was not written as expected in saw the draft and wasn’t happy requested to cancel service and to pay money back they don’t do refund have been on email so many time there is not compliance procedure it’s just a rip off .. contacted customer service they are not willing to pay back..

Absolute AI slop. Not only did whatever algorithm it uses not pay attention to any of the dates I used but it actually made up a job title for me.
Maybe it's different if you pay the £100 but absolutely do not get your hopes up for the free version

Top CV interpreted my CV very well and I felt that it highlighted the experience I have, giving me some justice to move forward to apply for those jobs that I have been unable to apply for, because I hadn't felt that my CV was communicating my skillset/experience sufficiently. We might be good at our own day jobs and TOP CV are very good at theirs - they are very professional and the look and the feel of the CV alone is worth the money spent.
I can't give TOPCV 5 stars just yet as I am yet to see the full outcome from job applications but, I have a good feeling about this long term..
