Not contactable customer service
My tenant move out the property. And he has not paid the bills for a year ( he said he did not receive any bills ) . I sent more than 5 emails asking for bills and no one reply .
I really want to settle this , but it seems they don’t want to take money

Just closed in on 1 year of being with…
Just closed in on 1 year of being with Tomato.
During that time I have made significant savings using their Lifestyle plan.
Only minor issue was in the early days the metering was 1/2 hr out of sync so was billed incorrectly.
However, this has since been rectified and I was also compensated for the mistake.
I intend to stay with Tomato for the forseeable future.

If I could, I would give 0 stars. Terrible service, please avoid!
I experienced an 11-day power outage (15–25 March 2025) while being a customer of Tomato Energy. During that time, I had no electricity, hot water, internet, or cooking facilities, and the company’s response was completely unacceptable.
Despite contacting customer service at least ten times by phone and sending multiple emails, no one took responsibility. Representatives gave incorrect advice, made empty promises (including temporary accommodation), and repeatedly said they would “follow up”, but no one ever did.
On 25 March, a Customer Service ‑ Team Leader (Commercial) named Phillip Clarke offered £100 compensation, which I found unfair given the severe disruption. I requested a reasonable review, but for over six months, no one has replied, and even the £100 compensation was never paid.
This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced, unprofessional, unresponsive, and completely indifferent. I strongly advise anyone considering joining Tomato Energy to stay away.

My mum has Alzheimer’s
My mum has Alzheimer’s. She couldn’t remember changing her energy provider. We were concerned that there was a large sum of money removed from her bank account. I contacted Tomato. They were incredibly patient with my mum, they went through when mum had moved over and why they were unable to recover funds as mum hadn’t allowed the smart meter to be set up. Understandably, the company was attempting to recoup nearly 1 years worth of arrears. They now have my name and my brother as a second contact in case any issues arise again. I felt the company advisor understood our concerns and made every attempt to make the situation as easy as possible. She was so helpful and informative. Both myself and my brother felt very reassured and supported.

Tomato Energy invent closing meter reading!
I switched my electricity account from Tomato Energy to Home Energy on 20th August 2025 because Home Energy are cheaper. I gave both Tomato Energy and Home Energy a closing/opening meter reading of 31923 on the same day. Tomato Energy have now billed me with a closing meter reading of 32642 and a bill of £200.31 rather than the roughly £47 I actually owe them. I have been in touch with their Billing Team on numerous occasions but I just can't seem to convince them that the 32642 reading is a figment of their imagination. To add insult to injury they have today sent me a reminder to pay the £200.31 bill!

Incorrect Estimated Bill
Did anyone receive a bill that said “100% estimated data”? The consumption pattern is completely wrong — even for the month when I wasn’t in the UK, they still charged me the same as other months. I emailed customer service but got no response.
I’m now looking for a new energy company.

Finally asked the Ombudsman for helpsince…
We have been with Tomato Energy since November. In December we had 8 solar panels and a 10.36kw battery fitted since when Tomato Energy have had the benefit of 2 megawatts of electricity for free. In exchange they supply electricity for just 5p per kwh between midnight and 6am to top our battery up when needed. My partner and I live in a small well insulated semi and as a result only use a few watts of daytime electricity needed to maintain the connection between battery and grid.
Our in-house monitoring system and the FoxCloud 2 system provided by our installers clearly shows that we only use a fraction of a kwh of day time electricity.
The really bad news is that Tomato Energy bills us according to a clearly suspect monitoring system My Watts which rarely shows any grid use between Midnight and 6a.m but occasionally lots of grid use after 6pm at their highest rate when in fact our battery is often full and we are not using grid electricity.
Tomato only reply to my complaints wen I resort to Trust Pilot. Their boffin has supposedly been trying to sort our case for many months so now we have asked the energy Ombudsman to help us. As one can see from Trust Pilot reviews we are not alone in having problems with both Tomato Energy and My Watts. Fortunately although 79 I have had the ability to fight my case and not lose too much sleep concerning the hundreds of pounds Tomato energy now owes me. I worry about others who may not have been able to afford inflated false bills.

5 star for fair pricing
5 star for fair pricing, been a customer for almost a year know. Can't praise them enough going against the bigger established energy providers and offering great value for money. They are really showing what a rip-off the bigger players are.
Will the current customers be able to continue getting serviced by tomato after our contracts end?

Tomato Keep up the good work
This company (Tomato) has set the standard that the big 5 should follow.I changed from Octopus because they started reasonable but soon followed the other usual suspects in raising prices far above what was needed . I sincerely hope Ofgem doesn’t manage to make it impossible for Tomato to carry on trading and offering customers a quality service at a fraction of the cost of the big 5. My switch was stress free and there hasn’t been an issue since I joined in April 25 Keep up the good work guys!

Excellent Service
I have been with Tomato Energy since October 2024 and they have been excellent from day 1 . The changeover from my previous energy supplier was straight forward. Since then, everything has gone smoothly, absolutely no issues at all. My electricity, energy readings and my payments, have all been
excellent and accurate. Even with the issues that they have had, it has not affected anything with my energy supply, readings or bills and that is a massive credit to Tomato Energy.
They are the first energy company, that I have not had any issues/problems with and from my 11 month experience with Tomato Energy, I can't praise them enough.

I was initially concerned as the first…
I was initially concerned as the first five months I didn't receive a bill. Also, the Mywatts app wasn't linked to my smart meter. The only link, showing my usage was through the Bright app.
Like many, I considered reverting back to Octopus. However, I'm glad I stuck with them. Now I'm receiving monthly bills, the Mywatts app is showing my usage and I'm pleased with the tariffs. A definite plus is, I no longer have large amounts in credit with Octopus. I'm charged monthly on the amounts I consume. Tomato Energy seem to have turned a corner. Long may it continue

Been a customer since march perfect
Been a customer since march and not had one issue. Bills have been on time, rates perfect and realistic with wholesale costs and really pleased i gave them a go. Used to be with OE but they just kept putting the rates up and no longer that cheap and standing charges too high. Tomato their standing charges are fair and i really hope they continue to trade as nothing comes close currently with the others.

Wow Wow Wow Just got my latest bill £24.44 for electric for August. I used to be senior buyer for some large companies so know a lot about value for money & service. Tomato are fantastic best prices & the bill summary breakdown is awesome. Shame ofgem are unfairly bullying them & only looking out for the cartel of octopus, british gas, eon etc who ripping people off. Offgem shane you corruption at the highest level

Great Supplier
I joined Tomato Energy when they first launched their Residential rates in 2024.
As with most of the reviews on here there were challenges with bills and similar, however they have all been resolved gradually.
When moving to a new start-up provider you should consider the pros and cons. Yes, there will be challenges, however that is exactly why it is so much cheaper.
Tomato are currently facing some challenges with Ofgem and I very much hope these are now resolved. I moved house in June 2025 and sadly the restriction meant that I could not take my tarrif with me and had to have a new supplier at the new house. I chose E.ON and I have had very similar issues with E.ON as I had with Tomato. The difference being that E.ONs customer service is non-existant and their prices are 2x what Tomato charge.
Looking forward to Tomatos (hopefully soon) return to market!
