Company is a scam (a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation) they charge £80 to make a phone call you could make yourself and pocket the money.

The implication is that the £80 is a callout fee. But If a tradesman does arrive he’ll charge his own fees separately, so you end up paying twice.

They use enough loopholes to stay legal but make no mistakes it is a scam and a waste of money. Just look up an individual repairmen yourself and skip these clowns.

Absolute rip off took £82.00, told me the washing machine engineer would be with us by 4 the same day, didn't happen an engineer rang us when I explained he should be out by 4 he advised me, he told the local experts, it would be a week, we were then charged 72.00 for the repair, the plumber was great, however they had 82.00 got doing nothing, I will report these to trading standards. DO NOT USE THE LOCAL EXPERTS. UK

Called and booked for a washing machine repair. Took payment over the phone and no engineer showed up.

Tried to call multiple times and was continuously placed on hold immediately. Have disputed the charge with MasterCard.

Company is a total scam.

Totally useless- except when it comes to taking your money, then they have high expertise.
All this company do is make a call "on your behalf" to a tradesman to book work and charge you £60 NON-REFUNDABLE (or more) for the booking. You then deal with "subcontractors" and have to pay them in excess per hour after that. Non-existent customer service.
I wish I could give a zero-star rating or even a negative rating.

This company is a scam! No matter how desperate you are DO NOT use them. Called this morning, advised engineer would be with me by 5. Got a call to say not going to turn up and offered me an appointment for a week later. This was for an emergency appointment.
Charged me £75 for nothing and so far unable to get my money back!

A total scam, we were told that if the engineer didn't arrive before 5.30pm, we would receive a full refund.

This is a bunch of scammers operating a call centre charging £75 non refundable booking fees to take a call and will not answer the phone once card has been charged. This company is running a scam. They tell lies to you over the phone saying payment is for booking fee and call-out fee but then tell local engineers a different story. When I rang to complain they refused refund saying payment was a booking fee only. £75 for booking a local engineer! I have contacted the police and my bank. An engineer did arrive after 4 days, he was very angry as a previous client had also believed he had paid the call-out charge, he cancelled the job.

Extremely frustrating experience with Local Experts - Called and paid for a call-out on Tuesday, a hefty £75, that I had to pay there and then. And was told someone would be out that day - but no one did.
Lots of calls, and being left on hold, when I did speak to someone the service quality was disgusting, considering I paid £75 for thin air.

In my determination, I turned into a bit of a pest. I kept calling them from 3 p.m. onward, desperate to find out when someone would be out. Finally, at 5 p.m., I got through to someone. But here's the kicker - they were super rude and just bluntly told me no one was coming out that day. Instead, they told me to reschedule because I would lose out.

At least there is one funny thing about the Local Experts the call hold message "Your call is important to us, and you are next in the queue!"

Avoid using this supplier if you can. You are basically paying £75 for a phone number - you then have to schedule the visit and pay the "expert" yourself!

Took my £75 only for a phone call. They said their engineer came on the same day, which is not true, and their engineer came 48 hours after a phone call. Their engineer took 2 minutes to look the fridge and advise me to pay £200 to repair the fridge. New fridge cost me £150. Spoke with the customer service and the customer service is very unprofessional, rude and said you have to pay to the engineer separately whatever cost. £75 cost only for answer the phone.

DO NOT USE. They claim to have 'local trades people' on all 24/7. They take £75 as a booking fee not explaining that this is just to call around to find a local tradesperson. The tradesperson they eventually found called me to say that they wanted him to do the job for less than his usual rate and had never heard of them before. I called to complain and then they tell me they are a 'booking only' company and the £75 is their booking fee, it does not go towards the closet of the tradesman's services. The tradesman couldn't make it same day as they had promised and they refuse to refund me my 'booking fee'. They refuse to answer my calls now.

Totally unscrupulous, and will be reporting to trading standards.

No engineer arrived that day as promised, I was told £67, which they had already taken ,was for call out and 1/2 hrs work. The local experts passed me on to an engineer who said they give him nothing so I had to part with £55 for 5 mins work! I will never use them again!

they neglected to tell you that there's no refund for cancelling even after 10 minutes. make sure you spot this info at the bottom of the website

Horrific service … total con. Took my money then no engineer comes . Engineer they told me was coming, I called and he doesn’t know who they are and was told he had to charge me directly when I ha e already paid

Phoned this company for an electric fire repair and was told they charged £62 for first hour.Despite advert claiming repairs within an hour didn't receive a response so cancelled, subsequently to find my bank account debited by £75.When asking to speak to somebody senior I was put on permanent hold.Could not contact the company despite several attempts.It would appear a lot of other people have had a similar experience.
Would have given no stars if possible.Will be contacting fraud department of my bank and also police if so advised.

I was told on the phone that I had to pay £75, which covered a trades man’s to attend my property for an hour. Turns out that money was just for them to pass my number on to a trades man. Who I had to then pay separately

I asked beforehand if there is a call out fee. The call taker said that there was no charge. He did not mention anything about a booking fee. I was subsequently charged £75 as a non refundable booking fee. I phoned them to query this and was told this was clearly stated on their website. Not any use if you haven't been on their site. They are insistent that a booking fee is not a call out fee and would not be refunding it. They claimed that the call taker explained all this but they did not. Before you book this company be sure to ask them about all charges as they are quite happy to rip off anyone who is not up on these things. I am 80 years old and online things just confuse me. All charges should be fully explained and confirmed that the customer fully understands this.

This company is a total rip off. Phoned at 9am and we only phoned them as they said they would get someone out fast and I needed an emergency joiner then paid £60 over the phone(NEVER PAY BEFORE WORK IS DONE AGAIN) The guy said that was us booked in and the joiner would contact us soon. Well, it got to 1pm and no call from a joiner. We were getting worried so contacted Thelocalexperts again and they said the joiner will be out to us before 5pm. 5pm came and no sign of any joiner. Had to phone Thelocalexperts yet again, they said they couldn't find any joiner to come out, and would we like to book in another appointment for the next day. Well to say my blood was boiling at this point was an understatement. If they told me in the first place they couldn't get anyone I would of phoned more local people to find someone. TheLocalexperts said the £60 we paid at 9am this morning is NON REFUNDABLE and were acting all nice and fake over the phone saying sorry and that we will try and get someone out tomorrow etc. In the end I had to go and get wood myself at 6pm and start doing all the work myself at night.
