Passionate about design...
The interior design institute has been such an enjoyable studying experience. It is a lot of reading, which is to be expected with online study, but it is very easy to reach out to the tutors for assistance. The technical lingo can be difficult to understand at the beginning. I have struggled in some areas and excelled in others, but overall the structure is very easy to follow and I feel I am getting good value for money. Knowing CAD beforehand can be very beneficial but the course has been instrumental with teaching me in the ins and outs of SketchUp. I would recommend this course to anyone who is passionate about design.
The only improvement I could recommend would be more videos for those of us who are visual/audio learners over reading learners.
My favourite part has been learning the historical aspect of design and how it has influenced and continues to influence design choices.

It is convenient to have expert advice and get quick response after questions or asking for help. The advance module is of great help, couldn't have done module 4 whithout it.
The course is of high standard and covers a broad spectrum, more then I have expected. I can recommend IDI .

Expanding my skill set
Expanding my skill set. Good amount of detail per module. Assignments are correctly done in order to challenge students, without being overwhelming, but not underwhelming and too easy. Amount of content manageable for a self paced course. Unless I missed it, as a student of the Institute, some free video content would be valuable instead of so much paid content over and above the course fee's. Ie: Some short video resources that are not part of the assignment but help and compliment each module, but only available on the IDI platform not on youtube. Something to guide us, but not have to pay more for.

We also really appreciate your suggestion regarding additional video content. We do currently have a couple of videos that accompany some of the modules, and we can see that you’ve already watched them — thank you for taking the time to explore those resources! We absolutely understand the value of having more complementary video guidance available within the platform, and it’s something we are actively working on creating more of for students in the future.
We also understand the additional fee for the live workshops. While these are optional, we do highly encourage them, as many students find them to be a really valuable and inspiring addition to their studies, with the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals and interact with other students.

I like the content
I like the content and my tutor. My online teacher / reviewer is Fabulous! Her comments always sharp, accurate and I always learn something new.
What am I missing-
1 software guidance . I ended up using Rayon as could not get clear understanding of other software. And it seems complicated without the need to be. Still, im far from mastering it.
2 I cant yet comment in full, but something within the structure ( order id tge modules) was not clear to me.
3 I feel I miss ' hands on ' experience. Can I really submit plans to 3rd party? ( electrician? Plumber? Carpenter? ) not sure.
Aside of it, LOVE it ! Happy that i chose this course! I think I will continue with more in depth courses, once I feel i can master the various software

We also truly appreciate you sharing the parts that have felt unclear or challenging. Software can definitely feel overwhelming at the beginning, especially when there are so many options out there and everyone seems to recommend something different. It’s great that you found Rayon and are continuing to work through it at your own pace. Many students feel exactly the same way in the beginning, and confidence with software really does build gradually over time.
Thank you as well for mentioning the module structure and order. That feedback is helpful for us, and we understand how frustrating it can feel when parts of the learning journey don’t feel fully clear yet.
Regarding your question about plans and working with third-party trades like electricians, plumbers, or carpenters, the course is designed to give you a strong foundation in creating and understanding design plans and concepts. In real professional settings, technical drawings and construction documents can sometimes require additional experience, local building knowledge, or licensed professionals depending on the project and location. So while the course absolutely helps build those skills and confidence, it’s completely understandable to still feel unsure at this stage. That feeling is very normal while learning.

I love the fact I can pick this up whenever I have some time. I am learning very useful, practical things to help me in the real world. Module 10 has been so helpful in showing me the process of billing and what is expected of me and what the client will be expecting. It gave me to confidence to work with my first client.

I have taken advantage of completing some advanced modules as part of my study and will continue to add more. It is great to have access to these courses within the Institute so additional enrolments are not required- particularly if you want to specialise in certain areas of design. It offers a layer of confidence once you graduate.

Interesting, flexible, practical and enjoyable!
This course is very thorough, the modules are easy to read, not too heavy, and written in a way that keeps you interested as it builds through the different modules. The assignments are explained well, often with examples so you know which way to head. I started this a long time ago, but have had periods of time when life and family and other work have just got too hectic and I didnt have the headspace. Being able to extend the course has been fantastic, and Im now almost finished. Its going to feel great to get there and I have learnt so much. The last few modules really get you thinking about how you are going to set up your business and I have found them very practical, with lots of notes to print out and keep to refer back to when I am in business.

Really impressed with IDI
For a self-guided online learning platform, which is exactly what I was looking for to suit my situation, the courses are robust and excellently crafted. I feel like I’m coming away with a lot of new theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will serve me well in as an Interior Designer. And I don’t feel like I’m doing it alone, I’ve had to reach out for support and the helpful staff as well as my tutor have always responded quickly. IDI Experience
The experience at IDI has been great thus far. The material is thorough, in depth and very detailed. I am blown away at all the new material I am learning, from floor plans to lighting, color and much more. Nothing is left out. The modules have given me so much experience to carry into the work field. I enjoy the feedback from my instructor and truly look forward to her suggestions as I move forward.

Very well designed course...
I am learning so much by taking this course. My goal is just to enjoy learning more about interior design but it is definitely designed to take students as far as they want to go. The assignment feedback from the tutor is extremely detailed and helpful. The additional resource material that is linked to the various elements of the course is also very helpful and very extensive.
