The Film Safe is an Independent Film Developing Lab based in Southampton, UK. It is run by Hope and Jack, the founders of the company in 2021. Our services include: Film developing of C41 and Black and White 35mm and 120 film, scanning at low, medium, high JPEG and high TIFF file sizes on professional Noritsu scanners, printing of 6x4 images on a professional DNP printer and light retouching of images to give you the best possible images back. We also sell a small selection of 35mm films both colour and black and white and a range of merchandise including T-Shirts, stickers, caps and totes. As a lab, we understand that it is not the most eco-friendly service but we take every measure we can to make our services as eco-friendly as possible including eco assured packaging, getting our chemicals removed safely, recycling packaging and giving back 3% to an eco conscious charity - Coral Gardeners alongside the other incredible charties, CALM and Alzheimers Research UK. We work on a 3 day turnaround for colour films and a 5 day turnaround for black and white films and are constantly looking at ways of expanding and improving our services. We wanted to make a lab that was friendly and approachable for the film community, offering advice and support for all things film related. We run a Discord channel where we can be contacted at any time of the day as well as a separate support email to help filter our emails.

Amazing Experience and Services
This is my first experience with film rolls, developing and scanning and The Film Safe did an amazing job! I’m really satisfied with everything basically: the whole process took me about 10 days from the day of the purchase of services (but it depends on how fast you send the film rolls to them – for me, it took few days); communication were constant and crystal clear; the quality of the scans amazing, even if I chose medium res. I’ll definitely choose them again in the future!

One of the best in the UK!
One of the best film development shop in the UK! The quality of the scans are unbelievable and are reliable in developing the film. I have not lost any films with them and all my pictures are developed nicely. They have discounts on the service occasionally and some of the proceeds are donated to charity which is really a meaningful touch by The Film Safe. Highly recommended!

Film never sent
I ordered some film on the 25th November, chased the delivery and received a helpful response on the 13th December. However I have not received my film or received any reply to my two follow up emails since.
I don’t mind a longer delivery time given it’s a small business around the Christmas period but disappointed to have been ignored when things are up and running again after Christmas.
