Very poor service

Very poor service.
mis lead before purchasing.
Poor communication and lied during that and then radio silence. still no product shipped either.
very poor customer service.

*** I KNEW IT WAS A SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE. but you said it would have been dispatched on no later than the Thursday. still has not been dispatched and still not replayed to my emails.

Desmond was really helpful on the…

Desmond was really helpful on the phone. I am still waiting for confirmation of a refund (due to an error and subscription not being cancelled on the website) so I may submit another review at that point. So far the customer service has been good.

They do not send reminders prior to…

They do not send reminders prior to charging you. If they sent an email in advance it would allow you to pause or skip. All they do is charge you and make it impossible to cancel even though there is plenty of notice. In addition, I couldn’t get into my account to check as it kept saying ‘there is a problem’. Also, although I have now cancelled my membership on the website, they expect me to phone as well. Assume it’s to try and persuade me to stay- no chance.

Our monthly membership payments are taken on the 23rd of each month, and this date remains the same each month so members know when to expect their payment.

Members can pause, skip or make changes to their subscription at any time before their monthly order is processed. Once an order has been processed, we're unfortunately unable to stop it, but members are never stuck with a box and can return it to us in line with our returns process.

To complete a membership cancellation, a quick phone call is required. This allows our team to ensure your cancellation is processed correctly, answer any final questions and gather valuable feedback from our members.

We appreciate your comments and will take your feedback on board as we continue to review and improve our member experience.

Avoid these scammers

Avoid these scammers. I emailed to cancel my subscription, and they said I needed to call them. I stayed 10 minutes on the line without any answer, then they hung up.

While our average call wait time is around 2 minutes, we do experience busier periods where waits can be a little longer. However, we're sorry to hear you were unable to get through on this occasion, as that's certainly not the experience we want for our members.

I ordered a sample box but was not

I ordered a sample box but was not impressed and emailed to say I did not want any more parcels but they kept sending them charging me £47 a month they have ignored my requests to stop sending more of their crap iwill have to get my bank to stop payments

We would, however, like to clarify that membership cancellations cannot be completed by email. To cancel a membership, we ask members to give our team a quick call so we can ensure the account is closed correctly and answer any final questions. The average cancellation call takes around two minutes, including wait time.

From your review, it doesn't appear that your membership has been cancelled through our normal process. If you still wish to cancel, please contact our team and we'll process this for you as quickly as possible. If you're unable to locate the cancellation number, simply email us at members@thecuriousdrinker.com and we'll be happy to provide it.

We'd also recommend not cancelling payments directly through your bank before your membership has been properly closed, as this does not automatically cancel an active subscription and can lead to unnecessary complications. If you've recently been charged for a box you no longer want, please get in touch with us as we also have a straightforward returns process and will be happy to explain your options.

Cancellation

Anna dealt with my cancellation very well - the usual offers were made to me but I'd already decided to cancel completely. I've had a few nice bottles during my short time with the Curious Drinker. The one downside I thought was the fact that the magazine stated that all the products in the last box were all vegan. Then in the same magazine it went on to tell the story of one of the bottles being made with honey from a local bee type. These things need to be more accurately described and verified by 'barnivore' for instance.

Shocking service with no refund.

My first (welcome) and second box arrived damaged, the second box was ripped and taped back up with all the items missing excluding the small pack of chocs and broken pack of nachos. When reporting this (with photos), I went through about 6 emails trying to get a refund, battled to cancel my membership several times and then was told to return the items for a refund. Shocking and stressful service!! Ive reversed my credit card charges due to getting no support.

Your first box was our Free Taster Box, for which only postage and packing was charged. When you contacted us to report that one of the snacks had been damaged, we apologised for the inconvenience and offered a discount on your next box as a goodwill gesture. When you advised this wasn't satisfactory, we then issued a full refund of your postage and packing costs.

We take customer service very seriously and always aim to resolve issues fairly and promptly. Where items are reported as significantly damaged or missing, we do investigate and, where appropriate, may request their return as part of the claims process.

We wish you all the best moving forward.

Membership cancellation is made as difficult as possible

The only way to cancel your membership is by phone. You cannot cancel via their website or by email. This is very frustrating and deeply inconvenient. And I was on hold for over 20 minutes, with a mindless automated message on a constant loop. And of course, they beg you not to cancel when you eventually speak to a human being. All in all, this was a dreadful customer service experience and I can confidently say that I will never sign up for a subscription from The Curious Drinker ever again. I'd recommend you to avoid them too, unless you enjoy being frustrated.

Absolute Farce to cancel

Absolute Farce to cancel much like what everyone else has said here.

They do not offer the information to cancel or call them on their website, their 'contact us' page it broken conveniently so you cannot get their number.

I used their messaging service requesting to cancel THREE Times and not one time did I get a response advising I had to call or any confirmation of even receiving my messages.

Now on hold for an extortionate amount of time just to tell them to jog on.

Cant wait for the sales bs I am about to be exposed to.

Why make it so difficult and cause your ratings to bomb by restricting people instead of accepting it? such a horrid tactic.

I have been asked if id like a call back and to put my mobile number in and im refusing, after several times and 6minutes on hold it says 'goodbye' and disconnects the call! Absolute Scam, this cant be legal.

Also, now when you try to key in your mobile number it ignores it. No way is any of this ok.

Hillerious cut and paste response from the company but no acknlowledgement of their contact page being broken or the fact their phone cut off the call at 6 minutes.

Its ok, if you sign up to an online pre-pay card and put a £1 on it, you can change your bank details to that card and never think of it again people, I used HyperJar <3

If you experienced long hold times or issues with the callback system, we sincerely apologise. Today is one of our busiest days of the month as subscription renewals are processed, which can result in higher than normal call volumes. That said, we appreciate how frustrating this can be and are continually reviewing ways to improve the experience.

We're also sorry to hear that you felt your messages weren't responded to. We certainly don't ignore members, every query received by us would have sent you an auto-response and we respond to all queries within 48 hours, on average within 24. So if you haven't received a response, your email may have not reached us.

Finally, we'd like to reassure you that no member is ever stuck with a box. If your renewal has already been processed and you no longer wish to receive it, simply get in touch with us and we'll explain our straightforward returns process so the box can be returned and the matter resolved.

Stupidly hard to cancel a subscription

Stupidly hard to cancel a subscription. They claim that it is easy to find the cancellation button in the members area but I isn't even labelled as a cancellation button it's labelled as "Want to take a break? Click here."in tiny writing under a box. You then have to go through a questionnaire to find a phone number to then call them to go through the same questionnaire you have already done, so they didn't need to change it for the sake of getting more feedback did they?

To top it off my partner who received a taster box as a add on gift through DIFFERENT website has now been charger for a subscription he did not sign up to.

Absolute scummy business tactics with no justification.

Regarding your partner's account, we'd like to clarify that we cannot create a subscription on someone's behalf. If your partner has been charged for a subscription, they would have had to create a membership themselves, agree to our Terms & Conditions during sign-up, and would then have received a series of emails confirming their membership, account details and upcoming renewals.

We'd also like to reassure readers that no one is ever "stuck" with a box. If a member receives a delivery they no longer wish to keep, we have a straightforward returns process in place. Simply get in touch with our team and we'll explain how to return the box so we can resolve the matter as quickly as possible.

Don't expect to ever cancel

Don't expect to ever cancel. You have to phone up and then when you do cancel they dont actually do it and you receive another charge and delivery. Be warned!

Offensively difficult to cancel.

Not only did this company cause me to lose thousands of pounds by converting the Gin Bond 2 investments into probably-worthless shares, but then they added insult to injury by making it impossible to cancel without making a telephone call and listening to a bunch of marketing spiel. It should be illegal that once I had told them in writing that I wanted to cancel and they'd confirmed in writing that they'd received that message, I should still have to telephone. As a matter of policy, I never resubscribe to any subscription that behaves like that when you want to cancel, so bye, Curious Drinker, if I could give you zero stars I would.

Always such a treat to receive a gin…

Always such a treat to receive a gin box. Ginned magazine is great, with lots of wonderful cocktail suggestions. The snacks are unusual and very nice. The customer services team are very helpful too. Anna from customer services was very helpful in assisting me with my query.

Fantastic Experience with The Curious Drinker

I’ve had an absolutely brilliant experience with The Curious Drinker. The boxes they deliver are excellent, really well put together, thoughtfully curated, and packed with great products. The value for money is outstanding, especially considering the quality and variety you get each time.

Every delivery has felt like a treat, and it’s clear a lot of care goes into what they do. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something fun, different, and great value.
