I've been a client of MATT KAY for over a year now. I completed a mentorship program and received many EP sessions. I can't begin to tell you how his pure presence and attunement helped my dysregulated nervous system become more and more regulated. I was able experience being the witness and moments of pure peace for the first time in my life. He provides you with many resources to do outside of sessions. His knowledge and understanding with no judgement makes you feel safe. Would recommend anyone looking to dive into healing and transforming their trauma reach out to him. You will not be disappointed. EP and Matt Kay brought me back into my body one session at a time. Trust the process and do the work.

Refresher and or overpowering

This course on emotions, really had me reflecting on where I have come from, with my relationship with emotions and where I am now. Great course Ryan and Matt, really like what you guys are, keep up the good work.

Very informative and easy to understand. Their videos have helped me understand what I am going through and how I got here. They also help me to not blame myself but to be kind to myself while I work on healing. I did not land here deliberately, I am not to blame, and there is healing. I especially appreciate that they are up front about their past. Seeing how far they have come is so encouraging.

This the third course I have taken. I LOVE the way that the courses are layed out and the community. The course gave me the confidence to use the skills in a practical way with clients. I have taken courses before where I understood the concepts but not how to set up a session.

The training is amazing. It is well organised, clear and contains all the materials needed to conduct Root-cause therapy as a practitioner.

This is a very difficult review to write as I initially raved about my experiences with this company and posted a 5 star review after completing the embodied processing certification. I now see I was emotionally dysregulated when I signed up for the certification, and emotionally dysregulated when I completed it, and I have serious concerns about the safety of what is being offered.

After initially feeling like embodied processing was helping me a lot, over time I began to experience a range of disturbing physical, psychological and behavioural symptoms. I numbed out to my life crashing all around me. I will say this was also related to other programmes in the coaching and ‘trauma healing’ space – all of which use similar marketing strategies and basically teach similar methods and ideas about somatics and trauma which are more cultish than scientific.

I do like the teaching style of the programmes, the people running it appear genuinely nice and to mean well, and I do think some of the principles of the methods themselves do have the potential to help people IF used safely and appropriately.

However, as I now realise, much of the basic theory around trauma and somatics being taught in the programmes lacks a real scientific evidence base - things like polyvagal theory are discredited by many neuroscientists for example. Furthermore, the interventions being offered (embodied processing, root cause therapy etc) have not (to the best of my knowledge) gone through any kind of robust research or evaluation process that they are safe and effective in the short or long term.

For your money you get all the course content as videos, and you can ask questions and attend support calls. You don't get any supervised practice to ensure you're safe and effective. You have to give and receive a certain number of sessions but these are with other people in the group who obviously are also training so can't accurately assess what you're doing. There is also massive potential for things to go wrong with two untrained people with trauma practising on each other, and I've heard from several people about negative experiences.

As far as I can see they are using persuasive, targeted, and survival-based marketing and sales strategies to get mostly emotionally dysregulated people to sign up for programmes that are supposed to heal their trauma and enable them to set up a business and make money helping other people heal trauma.

My biggest safety concern is that while these are being marketed and taught as trauma healing methods, there is a lack of awareness or consideration for safety monitoring. You are not taught about the potential for side effects that I experienced from these kinds of somatic approaches – such as chest pain (which is a medical emergency) and self-harming thoughts – how to ensure client suitability, how to monitor clients, and what to do if these side effects happen. There was no training in suicide awareness when I did the course. To my knowledge the company are not collecting any data on negative impacts from their methods, and negative impacts sometimes seem to be normalised as part of ‘healing’.

Nobody I know who has done the programmes has created a successful business from it – it would be interesting to know how many people who have purchased the programme have established a business and are making money – and what the long-term outcomes are of their clients.

I appreciate that the company did refund my money without argument after I expressed my concerns to them, however they did not respond to most of my concerns about safety issues. I would recommend asking them what they have put in place to address these issues and what evidence they have that their programmes are safe and effective before signing up.

I'd also recommend asking this question to any somatic or trauma healing certification/programme before giving them your money - most of who do not invite public reviews (which at least this company does).

It helps me to reflect on my own past and how to look forward to the future.

Even though the course is recorded I felt like I was attending a live presentation. The course was structured perfectly and the content was easily to understand yet powerful in its impact. I really enjoyed the course and would definitely take another.

I appreciated the self-paced learning via the vast array of video modules and abundant other resources, as well as the live/recorded group support sessions. The ability to connect with the community with short questions or for longer practice sessions, was invaluable. The deep thinking and continued development of the course, by the CFH team enhanced my sense of this being both values and passion driven education. The team clearly care about the work, about being in service to the community and the wider world.

The RCT Course provided me with a fantastic tool to bring to my clients that can integrate healing into their business journey. It not only benefits my clients but I have seen huge personal growth in my own life using it too.
