Sloppy quality
Ordered a dozen copies of my book. Web interface worked well, price was good. When received, one copy was bound upside down (cover reversed with respect to pages). The text seemed unusually faint. Checked it under a microscope and discovered the characters were 50% half-toned to save ink. Tried to contact customer service with zero response. Not gonna go back.
Excellence
Had issues with the shipping of my order as it was trackable but no progress for weeks! The customer service representative was both professional and friendly AND got the shipping issues straightened out.
Bad bindings = sad customers
I have sold several books through bookpatch.com, but my most recent experience caused me to switch to KDP Amazon. Initial production problems with bindings caused pages of my hardcover books to fall out. The company replaced a few copies and then refused to replace any from that same production lot since the complaints did not fall within the 30-day warranty window. A book should last a lifetime, not 45 days. They also locked up several offerings that had to be uploaded again.
They deleted my books
They deleted my books, and it's strange cause you can see that they clearly existed but you pretty much have to upload everything all over again. I was wondering why I couldn't see them on google.

Generally a good service, but they have twice made changes that wiped out all of the books that I had created and stored on my dashboard. Once they migrated to a new hosting company without backing up everything that was stored, so a lot was lost. Later, they made changes that they declared they had made email notification of, but I was not notified. EVERYTHING lost.

I have been using the Book Patch for several years and have always been pleased with the orders. For the past three years I have designed personal family calendars. The Book Patch did an excellent job - until this year's. The price had gone up, but I went ahead and ordered 17 calendars. I was expecting the same quality - but it was like the pages were made on a normal copy machine with normal thin paper. It is so disappointing when compared to last year's calendar.

I own a small publishing company and a lot of issues I run into trying to find a good printer are 1. The price of printing a book would drive the margins of the book up; I would wind up paying more to print the book than to sell it. 2. There's usually a ridculous minimum of 25 books ore more when sometimes, all I need to start out with are five. The Book Patch gives me none of these issues! They are honestly the most inexpensive printer around that gives you good quality for the lower prices. Mind you, this is just paperback printing. Hardback is still a bit expensive.
They also have no minimums. You want one book? Great! You want a thousand? Great! I love how there are no minimums!
I nearly cried for joy when I received the latest book printed. The cover is exquisite. I usually have issues with the cover being too washed our or grainy but the Book Patch doesn't give me those issues. The print quality was good, although I did notice that there was one page that was different. Not sure if that was on my end or theirs.
The set up process was incredibly easy! Done in 5 minutes. My books arrived one week before their estimated time of arrival which made me incredibly happy.
Also, no issues with the ISBN. I purchase my own ISBN's and that usually leads to a snag with other companies, but not with this one. They are a print company and do well at what they do!
I'm a returning customer and I will return for more books to print from this company. Please keep being great, you're the only ones that I care to use.
Retail customer experience
I recently purchased 2 books from the book patch. It was my first experience with them. The books were shipped by FedEx, who damaged the package and waited more than a month without telling the book patch or myself there was an issue causing delay. After I reached out to FedEx discovering the issue, I contacted a rep at The Book Patch, who quickly sent out replacements for my order. The books arrived sooner than expected and in great condition, and the quality of print was excellent!
Overall I'd say The Book Patch did an excellent job and provided great customer service! The delay and problems were caused by FedEx, not The Book Patch.

I recently worked with the book patchfor a print job involving a small quantity of books. Unfortunately, I encountered several issues that I feel are important to share for potential customers.
The primary concern was the inconsistency in print quality. Specifically, the top margins of some pages had text partially cut off, an issue not present in other copies of the same book. This suggests a problem with the printing process, rather than a formatting error on my part. Given that the formatting was consistent across all proofs and the initial order, I was surprised to see this variation.
Additionally, I received a lengthy email from them (the owner? staff? unclear) addressing the print quality concerns. The explanation focused on the quality of the images provided, which were taken with a smartphone. While I acknowledge that professional photos might offer higher quality, the primary issue at hand was the print defects, which seem unrelated to image quality.
For a service costing $241, the disparity in print quality is concerning. While this amount may be manageable and a drop in a bucked for our company, I worry that other customers, especially those on a tighter budget, might be significantly disappointed.
In conclusion, while The book patch did provide a service, the inconsistency in print quality and the inadequate response to these issues raises concerns. I recommend potential customers carefully evaluate their needs and consider other options to ensure a satisfactory outcome. Had it been my customer, I simply would have sent the next batch for free and did quality control to ensure it was done well. This would have ensured a life long client.
Worst customer service experience
First time printing with them based on great reviews. Yes setting up the book is easy, downhill from there. Took forever to get the books. High quality paper but poor quality format on the cover/spine. In January they promised to fix it and get back to me. Still waiting. No one answers the phone or responds to email. Find another source.
Inexpensive Quality Book Printing
I have printed 4 books so far (in various quantities). I write them for family and friends so I don't have any experience selling them through their bookstore. All of the books have been very satisfactory. The printing is clear, the formatting is perfect, the binding is sturdy, the paper quality is much better than I expected. My friend and family have loved the books. I plan to keep using TheBookPatch.

I published three books with them between 2012 and 2015 and even sold a few. All have an ISBN. I wondered why none had sold lately and much to my surprise bookpatch has taken my books out of print and are now requesting additional items. When i try to do as they have requested their computer system won't let me or it tells me the item is already there. I have had no luck in contacting them. I am uncertain as to what my next step it.
Unusable books
I purchased 10 books. My total was $150 dollars. They arrived in an unreadable font. I couldn't get ahold of anyone by phone. Someone answered an email and asked me to send photos of some of the pages, which I did. They did not respond back to that email or my followup email. I am very frustrated. These were supposed to be Christmas gifts.

I received an aggressive email from the owner of this company demanding I share my phone number (all in the subject line). I've joined the WhatsApp group about authors who have been scammed by this company. I wouldn't engage in business with them. Here is the subject line from the email the owner sent me: "I want a call or a number where I could be reached you"
(the grammatical error is his).
Something big changed in this company
Something big changed in this company. They aint answering phones. Last year a girl called me back whenever i needed help. used to be able to reach the woman who ran it by phone. Now one guy did answer he really scared me. I can't find my book. I made changes to the cover on their website. I wish I didn't done this. Please beware. I went to BookBaby instead. It's very easy to use and the shipping prices are almost half the price. Why is Book Patch shipping so high? I think they pay themselves from our shipping. Scammers. They have F rating on better bizness buerea. BUYER BEWARE!!!!
They are thieves!
This company owes us almost $6000 and refuses to answer the phone or emails. They published our book and have not paid us. I would not recommend trusting them with your book at all!

We just published a new book with over 400 pictures. We had 300+ customers individually order a copy via the book patch bookstore. We are receiving responses from the customers regarding the great quality of the book. Shipping was fast. We did not receive a shipping notice when our proof shipped but it showed up on 5 days.
