The Black Bull, Old Langho Omdömen 

We have been here several times and it never disappoints, the food is fabulous and the staff are lovely.
We went on Sunday 24th May in a large group, sat in the beer garden in the sunshine, had a lovely meal with a great vibe. We had Sunday lunch again on 31st May....sat indoors, food and staff both lovely. We have booked for Christmas eve again as well, as we loved it last year.

Went with a friend today and had fish and chips. The fish was just ok and the chips were inedible as they must have been cooked three times over. Won’t be going there again

Disappointing Sunday Lunch – Would Not Recommend

I’m rating The Black Bull a 1 out of 10 after an extremely disappointing family lunch. Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant.

First, the food arrived cold and had to be sent back multiple times. The beef was poorly cooked and the steak we ordered was so badly done that we had to ask for a replacement, which wasn’t much better. On top of that, the manager was dismissive and rude when we raised our concerns about both the food and the service.

In short, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. I definitely wouldn’t recommend The Black Bull for a Sunday lunch or any other meal.

I stopped by the Pub on a sunny Friday evening for some drinks before dinner. The outdoor area was buzzing with people. We had a reservation for dinner soon after. The first course was served quickly, but there was a 20-minute wait for our main courses after the starters were cleared. Unfortunately, the meals didn't meet expectations—one dish was cold but was replaced, and the fish lacked flavor and a crispy batter, falling short of their usual quality. The owner was sympathetic and took care of the replacement meal.

We visited for the first time and were blown away by the experience. The Chorizo starter was absolutely amazing, something you wish you could have again and again. We had the Sunday lunch for mains and again, outstanding! The restaurant had a lovely and welcoming atmosphere. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience from the staff to the food provided. I would recommend to anyone

The people who run the place made us feel really welcome. We felt as if we had known them for years(we just met) they even helped us get sorted with our holiday accommodation. We stayed and had two gorgeous fillet steaks which were cooked perfect to our liking. People are going on about the cost. You only get what you pay for and that includes the service which was spot on. We will be going back as we cannot knock the place. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Malcolm Crisp from Peterlee Co. As a Londoner that moved to the Ribble Valley six years ago I just love this pub one of the reasons I moved to the area never lets me down on food quality and great people to talk to.

We ordered the mozzarella on flatbread and haddock goujons as starters. The goujonns arrived as one ‘U’ shaped goujon, poorly presented and the mozzarella arrived on ciabatta. Ordered mains - Black Bull cheeseburger, this was burnt top and bottom and overcooked, was offered a replacement but wanted to eat with my wife not after her. It was left in the plate. Chicken Supreme was nice, triple cooked chips again just ok. We were so disappointed as we have eaten here a few times and the food has always been good. On a positive note, the guy who was our waiter was fantastic, an asset to the pub. Also, the burger was deducted from our bill. We have never left bad reviews, but on this occasion feel that the food is overpriced for the quality received.

Expensive for what you get - (2 courses) the starters had been microwave the were so hot, the only “hot hot” you get from a microwave and we were limited to choices as they had run out a certain starters - the Sunday dinner was the same, they had run out of certain meats, the Yorkshire pudding was so crispy it literally disintegrated when cut - the meal as a whole was disappointing and below average in our opinion (we eat out regularly) - we did go at around 6pm so perhaps we got the left overs, but it was £180 for 4 of us and none of us had anything good to say about it, we wouldn’t go again and would not recommend - you can definitely get a much nicer Sunday dinner for less ££££’s

My daughter has already left a 5* review for our visit yesterday which I endorse. For those posting reviews remarking on high prices, well if you are IT savvy enough to post a review then would guess you have the noggin to research prices in advance as clearly shown. Our bar bill was just £26 for 3 medium glasses Merlot ( fab), a beer and a soft drink. No standard gratuities added to bill but we asked if could add as wanted to show our appreciation.

Came today for the first time with my Mum.
We had the Gambas Pil Pil to start which was incredible. The prawns were huge and succulent and the chilli oil was delicious with just the right amount of mild spice.
We had the Sunday Roast sharing platter and we were both blown away by the quality of the food. The beef was cooked to perfection and tasted insanely good, the Ham was wonderful, the Yorkshire puddings were amazing, the gravy was beautiful with a delicate herby flavour, the cauliflower cheese was creamy and devine, and every other item on the board was outstanding too.
We loved the "sharing board" concept as we could pick and choose what we wanted and how much we wanted.
We had the Sticky toffee pudding for dessert and that was just heavenly.
The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Every staff member had a smile and were helpful and kind. Each course arrived quickly and served with a friendly smile by the waiting staff and they were quick to clear our plates once we had finished.
The Inn itself is stunning and has a rustic, charm to it.
It has to be the best restaurant I've visited for Sunday lunch and the staff there made our experience even more enjoyable.
We plan to visit again with more of our family.
Just incredible.

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE !
Called for Sunday lunch for two .
Firstly , there's absolutely nothing wrong with the food , its fine .
However the options are ... either two courses or 3 courses , you cannot simply have "A Sunday roast " we really didn't want two courses but basically had to have a pudding .
So 2 x Roasts 2x puddings plus 1 Beer and one wine
And the bill was £91 which although nice food , it aint that nice and we object to having to pay for two courses when really ..We only needed one .
Its simply too expensive for a Sunday lunch , there are many equally good options in the area for less money and without being forced to pay for what you can't eat

After hearing good things about it I was somewhat disappointed. I had the rack of lamb and was told to expect it pink, which was fine. What arrived was not what I expected, 3 scratty chops of which one was barely cooked at all. I was offered another chop but declined seeing as everyone else had finished. I half expected some discount off the bill but that never materialised.I think if your gonna charge £30 for 3 chops, at least cook them well.

We did not book but were able to have lunch. We sat outside in the gorgeous beer garden with our dog .The attentive service, the excellent food and the whole friendly vibe was perfect. I had roast beef which was a hearty portion and the best Yorkshire pud. The salmon dish was equally as good. Thanks

Visited the Pub on Friday, arriving early for pre dinner drinks, it was very busy outside as a sunny evening. We had a table pre booked for a short while later. Our 1st course arrived promptly, however the 2 x main courses took around 20mins to arrive after they had collected the finished dishes. Disappointed with the meals, one was cold ( replaced ) and the fish was not to their normal standard, lacking in taste & the batter was not crisp. The owner was understanding and arranged the replacement meal.

It took 30 minutes for us to receive the drink but after 2 minutes our food arrived and became cold... They waited 30 minutes for us to pay.
