The story off the Thameslink serving
ABSOLUTELY BLOODY TERRIBLE!!!
ABSOLUTELY BLOODY TERRIBLE!!!! ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!!! Got on the train, said it was to my destination, randomly switches up cancelling every stop between where I got on and central London. So, it took me right to central London, despite the fact that my train was to my destination. Bonus, this train was delayed.
Other complaints, constantly delayed trains, every single morning almost. Could write a whole essay on all the absolutely terrible things about this train service. Ticket prices are also an absolute joke. To go one stop costs over £40 for a weekly ticket. Pull it together Thameslink. It felt good writing this review.
Haha, another funny thing to mention. A delay was just announced a minute ago on the train I’m on BACK from London.
Rubbish service
Here we go again a simple journey interrupted by signal failures and delays. Truly a joke of a service.
The following evening the train was held up before East Croydon some reason. Then we told straight to Brighton after three bridges . Now we have to change. Premium prices 2nd rate trains 3rd class service
Now it’s Friday and stuck in King’s Cross train cancellations. Thameslink is a joke of a service total clowns.
Naff trains
Naff trains, seats far too narrow, no tables, no charging points. Not much more than cattle trucks. Wish there was a better option.
Unable to rely on this service at all
Unable to rely on this service at all. Short notice delays and cancellations without any reason. Cannot trust it for any necessary travel. Something needs to change.
You should be ashamed of yourself
You should be ashamed of yourself. Absolutely the worst rail company in the UK. Again I’m sitting on a heavily delayed train late for work that has stopped in the middle of nowhere.
Random cancellations, sudden change of stops on your way home I hate you. If I did my job like you idiots I would be unemployed.
At this point if the trains are on time…
At this point if the trains are on time it’s a miracle
Thameslink Flitwick Utter disgrace
If there was a no star rating i would have given it. Went to catch the 7.43 to London from Flitwick, announcer says the 43 and 44 has not yet left Bedford, no reason why. so both will be late 5 mins approx, in the mean time two fast trains come through without stopping, is this why all the passengers from Flitwick are kept waiting? 43 turns up and those waiting for this and the 44 all pile in because people are now delayed, no seats and barely standing room, people packed in like sardines, Thames link you are a disgrace, you cannot even manage your traffic nor your customers expectations, its the second month of 2026 and already you have had numerous failures, ( delays, cancellations etc) you know how to charge though and how to insert your T&C’s to deter people claiming compensation, get your act together or do the honourable thing and hand back your licence, Utter Shambles! Come on Thameslink lets have a reply to all your customers here instead of ignoring the people who provide your bread and butter,
Disgusting
My daughter bought 2 very expensive peak tickets online.Severely delayed on the way back.suffers from anxiety but ended up on a vastly overdue train.Tried to claim on delay repay for both of them ,but basically accused of lying, apparently online ticket is not proof you were travelling.Main problem is 2 young people with anxiety issues overloaded with stress. Also delay repay form is so hard to fill in probably to stop people bothering.
Paid for 1st class but compartment locked, what a ripoff !
Paid for a first class ticket as I wanted some peace and quiet, during a long journey (in total York to Gatwick).
Boarded the train that I booked (via TrainPall) to discover the rather small first class compartment was firmly locked !
No reason given. External and internal doors would not open.
The train was fairly busy, not easy to find a seat and room for my suitcase. Rather noisy due to multiple children.
I will think twice before using Thameslink again. I have never known first class compartments to be locked before!

Another shambles of a day on thameslink

New Management Please!
Another day, another delay and hey ho, the train won’t be stopping between Stevenage and Peterborough - because it’s running so late. What are they thinking! Despite digital signage on the train, the train itself does not show route changes. Platform announcements in St Pancras can’t be heard because of trains arriving and departing. Utter chaos and confusion. Surely someone else can do a better job than this?
Totally unacceptable treatment of…
Totally unacceptable treatment of passengers today. Major disruption in area, yet for the sake of 10 mins refusing to let off peak travellers get on a near empty train because there was another 10 mins until off peak travel allowed, despite the fact that the off peak train was severely delayed. Informed passengers within about 30 seconds of the train leaving that they would have to queue and pay £50 more to upgrade to get on that train or have a £100 fine if they got on without paying that hefty upgrade cost. When severely delayed train did approach, it thundered through the station without stopping, leaving passengers considerably delayed. Yet if we had been allowed on the peak train we would have got to our destinations and carried on with our commitments with minimal disruption. I gave up in the end after nearly 2 hours on on a freezing cold platform and cancelled all my plans in London. Now face the battle of who is going to refund the £9 paid to park at a station without actually getting anywhere! The situation is a mess, has been for a very long time. All we keep hearing about when ticket prices go up is that it is to fund infrastructure investment. Rubbish, we haven’t seen any such thing as passengers.
I rely on Thameslink to get to and from St Helier and Haydon's Road
I rely on Thameslink to get to and from work (with a 20 minute walk either side).
It is no exaggeration to state that there has not been one full week where my commute has not been disrupted by their cancellations. They continue to hike rail fares, yet there are consistent issues with their service.
The cancellations are rarely communicated more than 15 minutes before the train is expected to arrive, and when trains are delayed by more than 15 minutes they skip intermediate stops.
The most common excuse for delays seems to be staffing issues.
Stuck in a feedback loop trying to get…
Stuck in a feedback loop trying to get a refund for a train that was cancelled. This is absurd how difficult it is to find any way to get a refund without incurring a fee, which I'm not prepared to pay given that the train was cancelled.
Horrendous
Horrendous. The trains are not reliable. They are also very dirty and smelly. It’s a real disgrace. And not to mention overpriced and overcooked… how can anybody survive this type of daily commute?!
Absolute joke
Absolute joke
Almost every there is guaranteed delay or cancellation. Scam
Train from Hill to Tooting cancelled…
Train from Hill to Tooting cancelled again. I find it quite difficult to bearable that this service is so unreliable as the trains are either cancelled or delayed on a routine basis.
PLEASE READ. URGENT
HOW CAN ANYBODY GIVE THIS FAILING INSTITUTION A POSITIVE REVIEW? ARE YOU ALL HIGH?
Reflective of the current state of this world, we are all so afraid of offending each other and scared to state the facts, that we resort to praising staff for DOING THEIR JOB... well done, Johnny, for showing up to work, that you're paid to do, and agreed in contract to doing.... Absolutely nuts. People make it seem like they are some heaven-sent geniuses with special powers. Stop glazing each other, you are so desperate to be liked, Jesus Christ.
I'm sorry, how the fck is that ever worthy of 5 stars? "Oh wow - the staff were so helpful and kind!" Just because they read some numbers off an information board that your dumbass couldn't figure out?
???
Have you considered that when you write an asslicking 5* review, the company thinks it's doing a good job? THE WHOLE POINT IS TO EXPOSE THEM AND SHOW THEM THAT THEY AREN'T DOING A GOOD JOB. IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FROM THAMESLINK. TOO MANY DELAYS, CANCELLATIONS AND ERRORS. Simple weekday and 2 hour delay getting home - happens every week. ALL STAFF are PAID to help you; they earn money every time you complain and they listen. It's their job. Stop glorifying people doing the work they are paid to do.
?????------------------------SOLUTION----------------------????
CHEAPER. TICKETS.
JUST. MAKE. THE. BLOODY. TICKETS. CHEAPER.
PLEASE. Actually fck that - why am I begging like a dog? YOU WILL REDUCE YOUR PRICES OR WE WILL EGG YOUR OFFICE. ITS NOT UP FOR DISCUSSION. REDUCE YOUR TICKET PRICES NOW!!!!!! RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! (I wish I could climb across the screen to whoever is reading this and put them in physical pain to create a sense of urgency, until somebody higher up in the hierarchy will finally listen). (It would only be to send a message. This cannot continue)
Think about the popularity you could gain:
"FIRST UK RAILWAY COMPANY TO DECREASE TICKET PRICES" - it would be a HUGE win for everybody. Thameslink could be the FIRST company to restore relations between staff and customers, resulting in great popularity. It is a no brainier. I really cannot understand why it hasn't been done? ARE YOU REALLY THAT DESPERATE FOR THOSE EXTRA POUNDS? WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO SEE A CHANGE IN YOUR REVIEWS, RATINGS, CUSTOMER FEEDBACK? True leaders will know these are the things that matter.
A private owned (clown) company like Thameslink will always be protected, they wouldn't lose money by making their prices cheaper, they might actually gain from it! I know that is difficult to comprehend for somebody working for Thameslink (because the first obligatory trait upon applying for a job with them is to lack common sense), but it would mean more customers happily paying the ticket prices, less feral fare-evading vaping youths and overall substantially less negative feedback.
Like with many things in life, expensive = quality. Except for Thameslink. They think it's a game to divert, cancel, disrupt and reschedule trains, which could cost paying customers their life, but Thameslink couldn't care less. Only driven by money the egotistical, greedy bastards. What a shame you make the British rail sector look like a JOKE. Absolute JOKE. Shame on you all, I hope you drown in your guilt and despair.
