Test Teach Omdömen 

We signed up for Test Teach lessons initially only because a friend (whose older one was at Tiffin Girls) was signing up her younger one for these lessons. My daughter, who joined from Spring term of Y4, enjoyed the lessons much more than we expected. It might have been the combination of experienced teachers and TAs who had been through the grammar journey themselves but something really resonated with her and she insisted on staying on with Test Teach through till end of her prep. She made friends in her lessons and she is thrilled that some of those friends are now going to be in her intake at Tiffin Girls. The TT prep held her in good stead with independent schools as well - she got offers at all the schools she applied to, including 4 academic scholarships and an offer from St. Paul's Girls too. We will be coming back soon for my younger one too - great learning atmosphere for an academic child!

Thanks to test teach, my sons got offers from a grammar school in Sutton. Test Teach provides good materials to study, and also very good opportunities to practise sitting on exams every month, so my sons didn't feel so much nervous on the real exam.

Test Teach's lessons and monthly tests helped my son to be well-equipped for 11+ tests. The test reports are particularly helpful in knowing his position, strengths and weaknesses. Teachers and assistants are experienced and caring. Thank you Test Teach for helping my son to pass his 11+ exams!

The tutors are very experienced. The assistant tutors are incredibly talented young people—friendly, supportive, and inspirational for youngsters.

The best part is the periodic testing, which helped my son stay focused on his preparation, apply what he has learned, improve his test techniques, and manage his time and emotions during exams. The tests are challenging and up to date.

Very great materials and teaching methods! Past the stage one of tiffin girls which the school allows my daughter to fill the school name for the national days offer and participate the stage two round of exam; and past the stage one and two of Sutton girls.

My daughter has had an excellent experience with Test Teach while preparing for her 11+ exams. The weekly structured classes, monthly exam papers, clear homework booklets, and fully worked answers with video explanations have given her a precise understanding of where she stands and what to focus on. The coloured visual progress reports make it easy to track her strengths and areas for improvement compared with her peers.
She genuinely enjoys the two‑hour sessions with her small group of 10–12 girls, and the Sutton school setting provides a calm, well‑organised environment. A real highlight is the outstanding team of support teachers, comprising motivated sixth-form students from nearby Nonsuch, Wallington, Tiffin’s, Wilson’s, as well as enthusiastic university undergraduates, who guide the girls, mark essays, and share helpful feedback with parents at the end of each class.
Overall, Test Teach has given my daughter confidence, structure, and steady, measurable progress. They welcome every child without pre‑judging their capability or readiness, unlike several other tutoring schools in the area, and this inclusive approach truly sets them apart. It is a highly worthwhile programme for any family navigating the 11+ journey.

My eldest son went to test teach and got into Wilsons hence my decision was already made that my twins would follow suit. I have boy/ girl twins and both of them attended the classes last year ( 2025) and have passed the Sutton consortium school exams as well as have now sat the part 2 of Tiffin school exams.
Test teach teachers and assistants are friendly and the children are made to feel at ease during their lessons. They are encouraged to obtain feedback and the teaching assistants usually would be there at the end of the sessions to also discuss with the parents and guide them.
The materials given by them are good in standard and covers both Sutton consortium and Tiffin schools. The regular tests and anonymised ranking helps the children learn how to do a test in an exam setting as well as give an idea to the parents where the children are , their standard to help them to further improve.
As it is a group class I feel the child should be at a good standard to keep up with the rest of the students when they join. However by learning from the detailed videos for the papers given during their lessons in classes and homework can get any self motivated child to reach that standard.
I will highly recommend test teach for both subjects.

Proper 11+ tuition, helped my daughter a lot. Very proud of her for keeping up with the classes and getting a place at Tiffin. Even though it seems expensive, I’d say it’s good value for money considering the high quality. You pay for what you get, and test teach course is very much in line with the official exams. Haven’t been able to get this level of depth anywhere else that we tried, so big thanks!

This was our second time using Test Teach and we honestly couldn’t recommend them enough. Such a wonderful team - really friendly, super knowledgeable about the exams, and just great with the kids.

They made it genuinely enjoyable (our daughter actually wanted to go each week… never thought we’d say that about 11+ prep!). The papers felt really relevant for our target schools (if anything a little harder, which was great practice) and we loved having the online materials to use alongside the physical packs.

Our daughter received an offer from Wallington Girls and I don’t think we could have done it without Test Teach. Huge thank you to everyone!

We’ve had a really good experience with Test Teach and I’d genuinely recommend them.

The monthly tests were probably the biggest help. It just gets the children used to the pace and the exam setup, so it doesn’t feel like a massive shock later on. They also share the results across the year group in an anonymised way, which I actually like because you can get a feel for how your child is doing compared to others without it feeling uncomfortable.

Classes are small and there are always teaching assistants around, which makes a difference. They’re friendly and easy to talk to, always willing to help - I’ve found it great being able to grab a quick chat before or after class if I’ve had a question.

It’s also nice that a lot of the assistants went to grammar schools themselves, so they know what the 11+ is really like and what kids tend to struggle with.

Price-wise, it’s been pretty reasonable compared to some of the other options near us. We’ve had two children go through Test Teach and both got into our first-choice grammar school, so we’re really happy we went with them.

excellent tuition which genuinely prepares children for the 11+. The materials are difficult and there can be a steep learning curve. But this is exactly what’s needed to pass the rigorous real exams, which get harder every year.

My son managed to get into Wilson’s🙌🏽 He mentioned the Sutton exams were very similar to Test Teach in terms of difficulty. even the SET exam was laid out exactly the same way.

Test Teach supported us throughout the whole of Y5, and further with the Stage 2 extension course. Bear in mind, you need to spend time consolidating between sessions to actually get the most of the course, the video explanations are very useful for this. highly recommend 🌟

Doesn't deliver what is needed for Sutton exams
My child joined the classes at Sutton last year, but begged to stop as there was no joy in the learning, and no one spoke to each other.

We transferred to the correspondence option instead - we were sent 3 papers a week, through rarely were they all completed.

The maths material is excellent - v challenging. But you need to teach your child year 6 and a little of year 7 maths first and the course doesn't do this. Once those foundations were in place the papers were v useful towards the end of our preparation, especially for stage 2. NB there aren't that many multiple choice papers provided in the style of stage 1.This does provide deeper learning but means you have to look elsewhere to develop multiple choice technique.

English material was nothing like the Sutton exams - there were only 2/40+ comprehensions which were in the right style for the SET (i.e. multiple answer questions) and the papers seemed to emphasise answering large numbers of questions under time pressure, whereas the exam was short and v unpressured on time. One of the Sutton style papers was sent out after the SET itself.

The correspondence course provides very little to prepare for the creative writing test, but the 'in person' lessons do work on this quite extensively.

The company made no provision to get papers to families during the postal strike - refusing to email material - which meant we were without papers in the immediate run up to the exams.

NB I wrote this in 2022 before we knew the actual outcome of the exam..... but they passed strongly and is flourishing at the school.

In Dec 2025 Test Teach tried to get this review removed, so I am reposting minus a reference to another set of papers which we found useful but expensive (even though we had no affiliation - we are just parents of a grammar schools child) because I think this information will help parents make an informed decision.

My daughter was largely ignored in her group. The emphasis is on tests with limited time spent on teaching kids or covering gaps in knowledge. I regret spending our time and money on their programme which resulted in my child regressing throughout the year. The times we called to express concerns we were giving unfounded reassurance which has resulted in our daughter's confidence declining and her knowledge in core topics regressing.

Consider carefully before investing in the services of Test Teach. My experience with their hiring process was overwhelmingly negative and raised serious concerns about the company’s professionalism.

They failed to meet the deadlines they clearly laid out in prior emails, sending communications that stated explicitly “You will receive a decision by [date]”: yet those deadlines were ignored. If a company cannot uphold such basic commitments, it calls into question their organizational integrity and reliability. “Unprecedented application volume” is not an excuse, especially when emails are sent to a designated group of applicants in the first place.

While I cannot comment on the tutoring services themselves, I know what to expect from a company that treats applicants this way; with minimal professionalism and little ability to strategically plan or set realistic expectations. In my experience, all organisations I have had experience with either honor their commitments or are careful not to make promises they cannot keep. That lack of care is telling, particularly in an industry like tutoring, which is built on relationships, empathy, and trust.

My experience was not unique. Looking at Glassdoor reviews from 2024, I found comments describing “significant bullying by a senior manager, leading to a hostile and unprofessional work environment” and another noting that “one of the senior management has a tendency to date within the company.”

Based on this, I believe Test Teach would benefit from stronger regulation and a more competent HR team. Until then, I would strongly advise others to proceed with caution.

Test Teach know what they are doing and the approach is very scientific.

They focus more on testing than teaching. This means they don't waste time teaching what children already know.

It may be challenging for weaker students as there is little help to develop vocabulary or skills.

Some teachers are extremely experienced while others have a long way to go.

Much of the close support is from low-paid teaching assistants but they have recent experience of getting into grammar school themselves.

The best thing about Test Teach is that they make children sit papers almost weekly in the run up to the tests in a real school setting so they get very familiar with the format and experience.
