I needed a car for my daughter to take her driving test miles away from home and didn’t know where to look, lots of Google searches and test car 1 kept popping up. I was a bit unsure as to what I was getting into because you can’t be to careful nowadays. I looked up the reviews and messaged them. Although it’s a bit of an outlay it is so worth it to have the stress taken away. Andreas messaged me back very quickly and said he would have me an instructor and car within few hours, make that 1 hour. I had the driving instructor Dave from Lee on the solent call me a few mins after my text and everything was arranged for my daughter to have an extra lesson and her lesson and test on the day. She passed with only 3 minors and it was all thanks to test car 1 finding us Dave. Please, if you are stuck without a car for a driving test then don’t be worried about contacting Andreas and team, they are there to help and are there with congratulations when you pass.
Thank you test car 1 for making my daughter cry happy tears today 4/2/22. Myself and my husband will be crying when the need for petrol money starts!

Email these folks if you're stuck. Quite quick to respond and definitely capable of helping out, even if you're in a tough spot. Will recommend that you follow-up to confirm everything if your test is extremely short notice. That said, these guys managed to find an available instructor within 24 hours of my test time. What's more, that instructor was great, and I passed!

Couple of negative points. The phone number doesn't work sometimes. You really need to email them. Also, I had some weird hiccup where I booked on the website but didn't get contacted back with confirmation. When following up the day before my test, they didn't even have me in the system yet despite the fact that I got automated texts from them. Stick with email. They got it right in the end (and fast) so I won't ding them.

This is a legitimate driving instructor service provider that offers last minute arrangement prior to one's driving test and possibly the only one in this business field. However, one has to meet one condition so that the instructor will allow one to take the test, which is having safe driving skills and be test ready. This is fully reasonable because one will not pass the test if the person doesn't have the necessary driving skills and safety awareness and this will be a waste of instructor's time and one's money. The service cost is expensive but I think this is a reasonable priced considering the time lost to re-book the test and losing the test fee (it's only free if one changes the date a week before the test). Additionally, there is a risk of accepting a new learner from the driving instructor's perspective and having too many subpar test results will impact the driving instructor's registration/renewal (information is available at the government website)

In my case, I have a miscommunication with my previous instructor and left me in the dark the day before the test. I was rejected by other driving instructors because my test date and time were way too close (literally the next day morning). I only started to contact other service providers at night (7pm) because I have finally accepted the fact that my instructor would not reply to me. Luckily, Andreas eventually gave me a chance and helped to find if any instructor in my area would accept me, which fortunately there was one! Sheraz gave me a quick mock test and decided to give me a go even though I only somewhat familiar with the test area and had a few minor bad habits as my driving skills got a bit rusty over the months, which I managed to correct them during the test (note: one will still get a major fault if the same minor fault accumulated). All's well that end's well. I passed with 7 minor faults, considering I was using a different car, driving skills got slightly rusty, a few dodgy roads especially one steep hill with a stop sign at the top and lack of knowledge regarding the test area.

A few tips that I think might be helpful to other learners:
- Mastering "lane and positioning" skills are very important because this will normally lead to serious fault. This was the main reason I failed my first driving test, as I had a wrong impression that it was more important keep my speed consistent to each road.
- Watch a lot of "mock test" or "actual test" videos and learn from other mistakes. So far I recommend the Youtube videos from the "DGN driving school" for organised and good presentations. I also recommend watching videos that show the roads around your test centre. In this case, I recommend OJ Kenny's Youtube videos as he also has mock tests around my test centre (Handsworth) and so far he is the only instructor who uploads routes regarding to Handswoth test centre when I wrote this review.
- Keep a "safety first" mindset, be highly aware of the surrounding and know how to catch the road signs. This goes back to watching mock test videos and practice driving lessons. ;)

Finally, I would like to give Andreas (Test Car 1 contact) and Sheraz (the driving instructor) my most sincere gratitude for giving me a chance to take the test. Without them, I would have failed the test just from not showing up. Thanks!

The service was excellent. I originally had a test car from another company hired for my test which had pulled out a day before the test. However I was able to book a car from Test Car 1 within one day of my test. On the day the instructor Saz was extremely helpful and nice making this nerve wrecking experience a lot better overall.

Passed my test first time with test car1. My instructor Andy was great going over some key points before my lesson helped. Was cheaper than paying hours for a instructor short notice. Would recommend test car1 if your stuck for short notice instructor.

Booked and within the hour an instructor named bill contacted me and arrange a test and lesson before! Bill was great at keep me calm and perfecting my manoeuvres before my test and I passed with only one minor! So happy and would definitely recommend if you are thinking of booking.
