destroyed laptop, deceiving
Handed in a fully functional Lenovo Legion 7 (except for a cracked LCD) to get a repair estimate for an insurance claim. The laptop booted and worked perfectly with an external monitor before I handed it in. When I got it back, the motherboard was completely dead.
At first, I was told the diagnostic fee would be SEK 449. However, when I decided not to proceed with the repair, they suddenly added another SEK 499 as a "declined quote" fee, bringing the total to SEK 948. In other words, they changed the pricing after the fact.
The repair shop also removed the LCD panel and handled the eDP display cable without first doing what every professional technician should do: opening the bottom cover and disconnecting the battery. This is a serious mistake on modern gaming laptops because the display cable remains continuously powered. As a result, the motherboard was short-circuited and immediately destroyed.
They then dragged the process out for several weeks and tried to cover up their mistake by offering a "free advanced diagnostic" service—something they later used as an argument before the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN) to make themselves appear accommodating. ARN rejected the case solely because the chain of evidence had been broken after I took the laptop home in the meantime, not because the repair shop had acted correctly.
Unprofessional workmanship that destroyed a laptop worth over SEK 20,000. I strongly recommend avoiding this repair shop.
