Take 5 Oil in Austintown, OH

I went to the Take 5 in Austintown, OH for a routine oil change, and shortly after my vehicle began making awful noises. When I returned, the staff documented that the oil filter had been improperly installed and was leaking. They replaced it and told me “all is well”.

Concerned, I took my vehicle to Kia for inspection. Their technicians found metal debris in both the improperly installed oil filter and the replacement filter, as well as in the oil pan. They also noted loss of lubrication and confirmed internal engine damage requiring a full engine replacement.

I have now been without my vehicle since January. A claim has been ongoing through their third party claims dept, Fleet Response, who has told me the push back is coming from Take 5 not wanting to take full accountability for the damages. It is now April and I am still waiting for approval for repairs and have not even been provided a rental vehicle.

This situation remains unresolved and has been extremely disruptive to my daily life.

They suck out the oil

Rip off

The only good thing was efficiency. Other than that. Way overpriced on everything. An already overpriced $100 oil change shot up to $200 with 2 air filters. It was outrageous and I feel dumb for letting them rip me off. I will never go back snd I hope everyone else will take my advice and not use them.

Poor customer service, no liability and accountability

Took my Honda CRV for an oil change at the Take5 location in Smryna, TN before the Easter holiday and one of their incompetent technicians failed to properly secure the skid plate. Next day I was traveling with my family and 30 mins into the drive, the plate breaks loose and creates sparks under the car and almost gets us in a wreck! Called both the corporate offices and the specific location to file a claim and report the incident and haven't gotten any resolve from either. Apparently this location is a franchised location, so Take5 corporate has zero control over any correspondence or timeliness of handling customer complaints. When I called the actual shop to talk to the manager/owner, they kept me on hold for 20 minutes and I could hear them laughing in the background. They have poorly trained technicians that put people's lives at risk, cost customers money in damages with zero resolve. Here's hoping they can go bankrupt or get some giant lawsuit that takes them down. Based on all the negative reviews, they 100% deserve it.

Won't let them change on a lawn mower.

Won't let them change on a lawn mower after my experience. Have a diesel pickup. Ended up costing me $525 for a full service. They didn't get the oil filter o-ring set properly & oil leaked out a gallon off oil before they caught it. They rounded off the corners of the fuel filter. Had to get it replaced. Found on line their brand of oil filter should last 10,000 miles. My oil change in owner manual says 15,000. Won't ever go there again. Cost me another $400 to get name brand filters & replace fuel cap with a aluminum one. $525 dollars with a coupon that turns out it was only good on 4 gals. NEVER AGAIN. Crew more interested in trying to up sale.

Took my car in for an oil change and coolant flush

Took my car in for an oil change and they recommended a coolant flush. I allowed them to do the extra service, and less than a day later my car had such a coolant leak that I had to add coolant just to get home, and then add more coolant the next morning just to get to a repair shop. I filed a claim and it was denied (after taking 4 months) because they say it was most likely already damaged and their coolant flush only unearthed the leak. The leak came from the diesel system due to an overtorqued cap - substantiated with videos and pictures and they still deny the claim.

Worst service...waited over 45 minutes…

Worst service...waited over 45 minutes to have an oil change then once the tech started it, he told me he could not service my car as they bolt was stripped...I KNOW this was not true...also told me I needed more oil than I knew I did...then told me the mileage for the oil change I wanted was only going to last 3K miles.. I knew that was not true as well....I went to the dealership, got it done with no problems and cost me less...Springtown, Texas will not tolerate such poor service and the cost is too high.

Rogers Road Wake Forest Shop

Rogers Road Wake Forest Shop. My experience today was beyond terrible. I had to wait a hour as there were only two technicians. Candidly, I get things happen and was not that worried about this. However, when I was about done, the technician brought over the dip stick to show me the oil level while the engine was running. I told him he could not get a proper reading while running and he told me "sure I can" and walked off. Well.... I left the shop and within 10 minutes the engine service notice told me I was low on oil. I stopped, turned off the engine and checked the oil.
The dip stick was dry. Yep...I turned around. When I arrived another technician came out and I told him what happened. He checked the oil and tried to convince me the stick was wet. I told him it was dry. He checked again and walked away and came back with oil. He put in two quarts and I asked how this happened. He said the vehicle had 2 settings and he chose the wrong one and walked away. Well, that was just BS and the sad thing...he did not care, never said he was sorry or anything. Sad because I have used them now for 3 years. Not again.

I recently received an oil change in my Jeep and within a week, I had an engine tick! Their paperwork stated that they used the correct oil viscosity; however, I was never shown exactly what was being put into my Jeep. Needless to say, Due to them putting the wrong viscosity in my Jeep (I could tell because I ended up changing the oil shortly after the tick started and it was way heavier/thicker than the recommended), and the their paperwork stating the correct viscosity, I am forced to swallow the $600 repair bill of stuck lifters. I will NEVER recommend Take 5 to anyone or use them myself!

Do not recommend

I would strongly caution others before going to Take 5 Oil Change. During my recent visit, they spilled a significant amount of oil under the hood of my vehicle. Shortly after leaving, my car actually started smoking because of the oil that had been spilled.

This is especially frustrating because my vehicle is brand new and should be completely reliable—not smoking right after a routine oil change. An oil change is basic maintenance, and customers should be able to trust that it will be done cleanly and professionally.

What made the situation even more frustrating was that I contacted upper management to report the issue, and they did not seem very concerned about fixing the problem. The response I received made it feel like they simply did not care about the situation or about making it right.

Because of the poor service and lack of concern from management, I would advise others to be cautious when going here.

Take 5 oil change caused major engine issues

I trusted Take 5 Oil Change for a routine oil change and it resulted in serious engine damage and nearly destroying my engine.
The problems started immediately. When I arrived, staff refused to honor a valid coupon and said their manager would be upset if they used it. When I asked where that restriction was listed, they couldn’t explain. The coupon scanned perfectly without any override, proving it was valid.
During the service, I was told my coolant was low but it was never topped off, even though fluid top-offs are advertised as part of the service. Even worse, the invoice marked the coolant level as safe when it was actually below the low indicator.
The most serious issue involved the oil filter housing. A technician even mentioned something seemed wrong with it, yet they proceeded anyway. During the oil change they discarded a critical internal tube and reassembled the housing incorrectly, which caused the oil filter to be crushed and the engine to be starved of oil.
Shortly after the service my vehicle began throwing multiple warnings: low oil pressure, check engine light, AWD malfunction, charging system warning, and the engine stalled.
An independent repair shop later confirmed the oil filter housing was missing a critical component and had been installed incorrectly. They told me the vehicle should never have been released in that condition and that I was lucky the engine wasn’t completely destroyed.
This negligence cost me $969.07 in repairs, loss of use of my vehicle, and ongoing concern about long-term engine reliability.
To make matters worse, customer service has been just as bad as the service itself. I reported the issue to both the location and corporate and received no response for over a month. Only after filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau did they open a claim. Even then, my documents weren’t included in the case file, I had to resubmit everything, timelines were missed, and the case notes were inaccurate. The issue is still unresolved.
If you care about your vehicle, think twice before trusting it here. What should have been a simple oil change turned into expensive repairs and a potentially destroyed engine.

The staff there was very slow

The staff there was very slow, they were chit chatting it up with another customer and not using their time wisely. I was in the middle of getting my oil done and the guy checking me out took his phone call with his buddy and not help me out, and the man changing my oil was looking at my boobs and looking at me like i was stupid when i told him i needed help and i needed advice on my car. The guy changing my oil had problems with my boyfriend who tried helping me but knew we needed a pro am he kept talking and always had sum to say about him and how he’s unsuccessful, he was also not very good at communicating with me telling me what to do. As i was pulling out both of the workers said stuff about me and my car and my boyfriend. My opinion on them is i will never go back i will take my business some where else.

The spring was broken on the inside my oil filter and put back in place as if nothin happen the attendant was dis honest (Malcom)the bmw dealership explained to me that who ever changed your oil last caused this and you could have lost your engine due to oil lost.Imagine that replacing a engine for a bmw.Now Take five have yet to respond and show accountability...

five months ago

five months ago, went to the location on Cortez in west Bradenton fl; across from Walmart. almost 100 for an oil change. fast forward and need another oil change. they couldn't get the oil filter off. two shops told me it was over torqued; they were afraid of damaging the part that sends the oil into the filter. cost $$$ to get it fixed.

The 200 Rock Road location is horrible

The 200 Rock Road location is horrible. I didn't even get my oil changed. I pulled up and the kid had me pull behind a Jeep and wait. No problem. I did but then he had me move to another lane while he unloaded that car's trunk. Then eventually he had me pull in and then no one talked to me while 3 guys stood around for an hour. I had to get out close my hood and leave. No one tried actually change my oil for an hour. These guys are lazy and have no customer service skills. I was super nice and polite. Don't give these guys your money. They also wanted $130 for an oil change

Took totally too long and they would not redeem coupon saying you have to download it the day before it finally came when they were done also did not reset my oil change system saying just look on utube.
