Bait and switch! They advertise 2 pairs of glasses for $78. We ended up paying $610.89. Because everything single thing is an add-on and most frames cost way more than $39! I should have known that was going to happen and should have walked out but my friend was going back to CO and I just wanted to get them ordered. I will never go there again and I recommend that everyone else goes to Costco instead.

Avoid Staton Optical
On or around September 1, 2024, I visited Stanton Optical at Grossmont Center Drive to take advantage of their buy-one-get-one-free glasses offer. I was assured by a Stanton Optical representative that my insurance would cover most of the costs, despite the location not being in-network. I proceeded with the purchase, undergoing two eye exams. Later, I discovered that one exam was billed, while the other was supposedly free.
I selected my buy-one-get-one-free frames, but subsequent events significantly complicated the process. During my second exam, I was diagnosed with cataracts and referred to a cataract surgeon. This necessitated a new prescription after my October surgery.
Stanton Optical's staff assured me that my new prescription, submitted in November (within the promised one-year timeframe), would be covered. However, contacting them proved extremely difficult. After numerous attempts, I visited the office in person, only to have my prescription initially dismissed as unfamiliar. The manager eventually acknowledged the policy but, unfortunately, misplaced my prescription.
After this, I had to return to my ophthalmologist for a replacement prescription. This time, I presented it to a sales associate who claimed to have never heard of this coverage policy. This sales associate repeatedly sought assistance from the manager, who was visibly present in the store, before eventually agreeing to honor the coverage.
However, a significant error occurred. My original prescription was for single-vision lenses, although I had explicitly requested progressive lenses. Stanton Optical incorrectly filled the single-vision prescription, resulting in a $296 charge. They then informed me that an additional $311 was required to obtain the progressive lenses I had originally requested—despite the fact that progressive lenses are covered under my insurance.
Given their repeated errors, misleading information, poor customer service, and the ultimately unnecessary additional charge of $311, I refused to pay further and requested a full refund. I left the store deeply dissatisfied with the unprofessional treatment and the significant financial burden caused by their incompetence. I strongly advise exercising extreme caution before patronizing Stanton Optical.
Gave me the wrong prescription
Gave me the wrong prescription. Told me my eyes would adjust. The lenses that they use for progressive glasses are apparently some of the worst available. I did know this until now. They called me and said my new glasses with the correct lenses were fixed and were ready for pickup. Tried them on and couldn't see very well. Took them home for what they call "adjustment period". Long story short, they gave me back the same exact glasses from the first visit. Still waiting to see if they fixed it.
