Spencer James have been letting my flat in Spitalfields since 2001. Andy Panteli recently secured an excellent new tenant at a very good rent. He and his colleagues were helpful and responsive and acted professionally throughout the process. I can thoroughly recommend the service he provides.

Sales Manager Tom and Property Manager Joanna were also very helpful and helped me follow up on the project while Andy was on vacation. Had a superb experience using Spencer James residential to rent out my property, in particular because this was my first time going through this process.
This was helped with a lovely introduction by Andy and he made me feel comfortable from the outset which made the decision very easy to use their services. He explained the whole process and made necessary adjustments to meet my needs, at times going above and beyond. He dealt with me from start to finish which also made the process smooth.

Spencer James came recommended to me by a colleague, who in turn had spent much time ‘interviewing’ local estate agents to find the one who gave the best customer service in the area. Spencer James came out on top by a long way.

Andy Panteli particularly has been my main contact and I have found him extremely responsive from day one, liaising regularly during the process of getting my property listed and finding suitable tenants, through to dealing with practical issues relating to the property as they have arisen (and at a reasonable cost). Paperwork and rental payments have always been made promptly. I am a landlord who no longer lives locally but I feel confident that my property is being well looked after.

Andy always responds quickly and cheerfully to any queries and gives direct and honest advice. I would rather know the truth of a situation than the bulls**t some agencies come up with. Andy takes a genuine interest in people and clearly cares about his clients and the standard to which he does his job. Having used Spencer James to buy and let out my property for over a decade. Andreas is my go to contact, always friendly and resolves any issues or queries with my tenants.

I have been using Spencer James for 6 years now and they have been a god send. I am out of the country, and they sort out everything! All the stuff you expect a letting company to do like gas certs, agreements, communication with tenant. They also go a step further by reverting with any documents I ask for like the yearly expenses accounts to make my tax returns easier.

I have had the pleasure of working with Spencer James as a landlord for two years. After discussing my needs with at least five other local agents, it became clear that Spencer James was the best choice. They were the only ones to call me, ask specifically what I was looking for, and spend over 30 minutes providing advice and suggestions. Since then, I have had two tenants, both of whom have been absolutely amazing and, as far as I know, completely happy with the flat and the service provided by Spencer James. I have also recommended Spencer James to a friend who was looking to rent out their house. They have now been using Spencer James for a year and are equally very happy with the service and support provided.

Andy and Jovanna at Spencer James went above and beyond to help us get into a beautiful new flat! Andy also followed up to make sure we had everything we needed. I haven't had to contact them for maintenance concerns yet, so I can't comment on that. But I'm hopeful that if that goes as smoothly as the leasing process, we'll be just fine.

It was great dealing with Andy and Jovana at Spencer James. I had a really unique set of requirements and I was finding it really difficult to find a short term let. However I was able to sort something out with Andy at Spencer James and it was plain sailing from there on

RUN!!!!
This is undeniably the WORST company to let a flat from in all of the UK. My experience from day 1 was nothing but a horrible experience. Every person that works here is incompetent and just RUDE and will speak down on you as if you’re working for them. I seriously feel as if they hate their jobs the way they deal with people….disgusting .

From day 1 I was dealing with Jovanna and I did not have a good experience what so ever. I was emailing her constantly and a process that should’ve took 2 weeks max took over a month. I felt as if I was back in school dealing with a girl who has an attitude about everything.

I’m from a different country where when you are dealing with a rental agency or letting agent, they are determined to make you happy because it’s THEIR JOB. I’ve never in my life dealt with someone who treats a customer as if they are working for them and as if they are doing me a favor especially considering I had to pay my rent 6 months at a time.

Now my year living in the flat has done nothing but cause me PTSD because of this agency. From day 1 of moving in they gave me a dirty flat and plumbing issues that were clearly left over time and not fixed by the agency (not surprised). I had issues with my shower over flooding with sewage and waste (look at attachments) that were clearly a threat to a humans health considering I could not shower in my own flat for sometimes weeks at a time. I dealt with this issue basically the whole time I lived in this flat due to the incompetence and horrible attitude of not fixing the issue properly. All they did was continue to send me people for a cheap fix rather than sending me a proper plumber. Of course my whole flat ended up flooding causing damage to personal items not to mention the smell it caused.

This is just one of the issues I had to deal with in the flat. Now let’s talk about the mice infestation the flat had that clearly was known about when the flat was let and not dealt with properly.

My experience in this flat was nothing but horrible and the way the agency dealt with these issues made the matter even worse…I’ve had to spend my own money on hotels multiple times during my tenancy.

I moved out of the flat in August of 2023 and I’ve only just received my deposit back in February of 2024…of course with multiple petty deductions (not surprised) . I had to deal with Andreas which clearly needs to look into a different career because the way he dealt with everything was actually concerning. He has zero organizational skills and was even confusing me with other tenants. He also just has a sh** attitude…You would think after all of the things I’ve dealt with living in the flat (mice, flooding, no showers, hotels, damage to personal items) that they would have some type of consideration when making deductions from my deposit. They took more than half of my deposit…SCAMMERS!!!

When I told him to read the check in report all he could respond is “we’re adamant about these charges”….like make it make sense???? It screams scam and trying to rip me off. I also highly doubt they used any of the money to fix the flat.

After everything I dealt with living in this flat all I can say is RUN! Give your money to an agency that will care about you as a tenant and where they don’t have a whole bunch of incompetent staff that think they are better than what they are. Please HUMBLE yourselves and remember you are meant to be providing a service. It’s clear to me that from day 1 they do not care about you as a tenant at all, they only care about themselves, it’s truly disgusting. I’ve had to report them to the council for how bad my experience was and I can promise you I’m not a complainer but wow this agency deserves to be shut down!
