I recently entrusted Southport Funeral Care with my husband Stephens direct cremation after his unexpected death and wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for the care and sensitivity shown throughout the entire process.

From first contact, the team treated me with kindness, respect, and genuine compassion. Everything was handled with quiet professionalism and dignity, which brought a great deal of comfort when I needed it most. The arrangements were explained clearly, no pressure—just thoughtful guidance and understanding especially for certain unusual requests from me which were fully accommodated.

The service was simple, the level of care was anything but.

Len and Dave dressed in full funeral livery, Len walked in front of the highly polished hearse on its approach to the crematorium. My husband's handsome face was displayed on 2 TV screens with his name. Len and Dave stayed with my husband until the entire music I had chosen was played to the end and the curtains had closed parting with a respectful bow to acknowledge his departure.

It meant so much to know that my husband was in safe and respectful hands. The attention to detail and the calm, reassuring manner from Len and Dave made a painful experience easier to bear.

I am truly grateful for the support I received and still receiving whilst arranging my husband's 'celebration of life' party. I collected my husband's ashes the day after which allowed me to bring him home quickly.

I would highly recommend Southport Funeral Care to others needing a caring and dignified service who showed genuine compassion and solicitude.

On leaving the crematorium, another direct cremation was waiting to go in. It arrived in a van with no ceremony.
I know I made the right choice.

What a warm welcoming experience we had with Len, Dave & Ed. They took care of everything. My beautiful wife Pauline was looked after with care love and dignity I cannot thank the team enough. Multiple visits were arranged even out of hours. I will never forget how the guys helped me through it all.

When a loved one dies, it is not uncommon to not have thought of which funeral directors to instruct, and suddenly finding ourselves in a situation needing one, was very over whelming. We knew my Dad wanted an independent directors, and these are hard to find, as some websites are not immediately clear.

I have rang a few services, and when Ed answered the phone in his calm way, he made it very clear they did not offer a package as they like to make a truly personalised experience for the person who has died.

We were reassured we can pop in any time, and that as Ed was out of the premises, we would be able to meet Len, who was 'just like Ed', and he truly was.

Len sat with us at length gently talking about options, advising us if instructed they can manage everything that was needed. This was a huge relief to have a professional deal with the funeral affairs, and the communication was second to none.

We were given some options, and took these away with us to reflect on, and the pricing was extremely competitive to other 'package deals' we were offered.

They were more than happy to offer services, and also very helpful in allowing us to use other people for some parts such as our Celebrant and Florist, as they have a family connection.

Throughout the lead up to the funeral we were gently guided about what needed to be done, and when, and the day went like clockwork, and we fully understood what to expect.

They were always well presented, polite, appropriate humour, supportive and kind gentlemen, there is not many people left in the world like this now! I am enormously grateful to them both, and I will never forget their kindness, and their respect which they showed to my late father. I felt he was well looked after there, and even during the riots I knew that he would be safe at their premises.

Another option they have, at a set price, is direct cremations, but the positives of this is the service can be held at the funeral directors, they have a lovely chapel there and able to get someone to officiate be it religious or non-religious, also the opportunity to have your own celebrant.

The person goes to the crematorium the next day and it is a great option if an unexpected death, I would certainly pick this for myself, but did not feel right for my father.

If you do need a funeral director, I would not hesitate to recommend Len and Ed, you will be in very safe hands and supporting a truly independent service.

Ed and Len provided an exceptional service, from the initial meeting which is very upsetting -SFC were very friendly and professional taking care of the whole process. They dealt with my mother’s full tradition funeral this year and last year my father’s request of ‘cremation only ‘ with considerable empathy. Everything was taken care of with care , compassion and integrity .
