Our experience with Southern Exploration was “Outstanding.” Our group viewed sites that we never imagined we would see in Our lifetime. It was a “Wonderful Trip.”

Our first stop was in Buenos Aires. Our guide (forgot her name) picked us up at the airport and took us to our hotel Casa Sur Bellini. We then took a two-hour walking tour through the neighborhood to include the Open-Air Market. We enjoyed visiting the church where Pope Francis officiated mass in his younger years. The architecture of the city was beautiful with the European flavor. We also visited the museum where We viewed many great works of famous artists. Our Guide also took us to the airport for our flight from Buenos Aires to El Calafate. She was Outstanding. The Casa Bellini Hotel staff were remarkable and the restaurant food were delicious.

El Chaten was our next stop. It was a town and not a city like Buenos Aires. The ride to El Chaten was enjoyable as we saw some wild life on the pampas and viewed Mount Torre and Fitz Roy. We did a lot of walking around the town, visited the museum which was very informative. We also took the Foodie Tour which was very interesting. We were tasting some of the different food unique to the village. The Los Cerros Boutique hotel was outstanding and the hotel restaurant I believe has the best menu in the village and the meals were delicious. The hotel staff were excellent.
The Perito Moreno Glacier Sightseeing and Glacier Cruise at El Calafate was my one of my favorite parts of this tour. We had the chance to take a Boat Cruise that took us close to the glacier with icebergs floating nearby and the Sightseeing Tour took us to the other side of the Glacier. It was an Awesome Tour and an Unforgettable Sight!
Las Torres del Paine was my favorite tour. The guides did an awesome job of showing us the sites. We stayed at Hotel Las Torres in the Torres del Paine National Park. Our guides: Florencia who took us the Inventive Garden which provided the fresh vegetables and fruits for the hotel; Macarena and Felipe our driver took us to the Blue Lagoon and to the waterfalls; Matias and Diego for our Baquero Experience tour. Their personalities were awesome, knowledge of their subject matter exceptional and were very good in explaining them to us.
Overall, we had a “Very Enjoyable Experience” at Hotel las Torres. The rooms were well kept and the food provided by the restaurants were hearty and delicious. The staff at the reception desk were very helpful and Catalina was able assist us with any questions that we had. All the hotel staff from the Reception Desk, Restaurant, Housekeeping, Guides, and Drivers that we encountered were Very Helpful, Friendly, Accommodating and Understanding

Southern Explorations did an excellent job planning, coordinating, making the necessary arrangements and special accommodations to meet our needs as senior citizens for our Classic Patagonia and Hotel Las Torres exploration and the two days in Buenos Aires. The trip for the exploration went very well. All the people we met and assisted us from the wheel chair assist at the airports for my wife, to the hotel staff, guides and drivers were excellent. They were very friendly, understanding and accommodating. The Final Trip Details provided by Eric Bartanen assisting Jonathan Borgida who was out of the office was very “Informative, Excellent and Right On”. My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves on the trip.

The itinerary made by Southern Explorations was perfect for a small group with different interests and physical fitness/accessibility levels. The accommodations and transport services were excellent. What I will remember the most from the trip were the people. The tour guides, hotel staff, and drivers were knowledgeable and so warm and friendly. This trip lived up to my bucket list expectations.

We wanted our first trip to South America to be active, interesting every day and customized as much as possible. We found Southern Explorations on line and their website reflected a lot of things we were looking for. They are knowledgeable and responsive, very helpful throughout the planning stage of the trip. They offer a range of accommodations, excursions and experiences based on the client's budget, interests and physical abilities. They work with local guides and tour companies rather than having one tour guide throughout the trip, which means that every stop has a local expert. For us it was like having a friend on call at every stop during our 18-day trip, which focused on Patagonia, with arrival and a short stay in Buenos Aires and departure from Santiago. The trekking and excursion guides were excellent as were the guides greeting us at the airport and taking us back for outbound flights. They don't just drop you off at the curb, they stay with you until you're checked in, just in case there is a problem to handle. Though we are seasoned travelers, as 'senior citizens' we had concerns about our ability to keep up with a younger group. Turns out that was not a problem as we were often on a private tour and the largest group trek was about ten people. Our guides were experts at managing ability levels and personalities and maintaining team cohesion. Southern Explorations also provides a wealth of useful guidance and information plus a customized web portal for the trip. Our trip was a great experience that met our expectations and then some. We highly recommend Southern Explorations.

All arrangements were skillfully made, all guides were top notch and very informative about local matters of all kinds, the lodging was excellent, the food was very good and the curation of the experience (the most important part of all) was top notch!!!!

The trip with Southern Explorations was great from start to finish. We had timely pick up each time at the airport. The drivers were always helpful with the bags, especially our large, heavy duffel. Also, we expected to use an airport shuttle that we would pay separately, but SE did all our transfers. The travel assistants waited with us in line to make sure we were checked in at the airports. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and really cared that we had the best experience possible. Guides were on time and summarized what to expect the next day, so we were well prepared for our hikes. Guides were always willing to take pictures of us. They pointed out history, facts, and useful information to better appreciate the vistas, towns, and culture. SE was easy to access. We did not have to contact SE while on our trip. Prior to leaving they were easily accessible by phone or email. I would use their services again for South America.

Southern Expeditions made our trip go without stress or anxiety when it came to airline reservations or connections. The guides that we had for our transfers from airport to limo and the guides we utilized out in the field for our expeditions were all excellent. All of the services that Southern Expeditions set up or recommended, (hotels, tours, airlines, restaurants), exceeded our expectations. I most highly recommend their services.

They organized an incredible experience for us in Patagonia. Every arrangement they made was perfect, from local transportation guides to internal flights in Chile. Our trip was a dream come true and Southern Explorations helped us achieve this!

We (a retired couple) had a wonderful experience having Southern Explorations agent Marisa coordinate our trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos. Identifying the cruise ship based on our specifications, coordinating our flights, and having their agents on the ground in Equator and in Galapagos to help us navigate the necessary formal steps there, were all highly coordinated and precise. Our communication with Marisa was superb. We heartily recommend this travel agent.

All transfers and guides were on time, competent, entertaining and fluent English speakers! Hotels were as described. Except ElCalafate hotel which had stray dogs in the street that barked often all night.
