Sophos is great if you have advanced knowledge or if you work with a great Sophos Partner. Most of the bad experiences that I have experienced are with improper setups which isnt usually the customers fault rather the Sophos Partner that gives them poor instructions. I'm glad Sophos is providing more customers with health checks so that they can understand the issues that they are experiencing.

Putting Sophos on your Mac is the worst possible thing you can do. On my iMac (Ventura) everything slowed down to glacial pace making it almost impossible to use - constant restarts necessary. Before I found it was Sophos that was causing a problem I did several clean installs, checked RAM thoroughly, threw away loads of software and replaced my internal drive. Getting rid of Sophos cured it all.
And in a quarter of a century of Mac computing I've never encountered a virus...

Shocking support since it was moved, i wont be renewing, there is no support, all they do is email cant speak english, i cant understand their mumbling at all. Dont purchase their products you wont have support in english.

Absolutely awful product. Terrible CPU and memory hog. will bring a server to a standstill if it decided it wants to scan every file in sight (irrespective of whatever settings you give it). In an enterprise environment updates can take 2 HOURS to think about installing once you've requested and update. Then you have to deal with virus false positives, which is basically everything non Microsoft. Always tells me the keygen i use to install my company products is a virus which is basically - this generates passwords its not Microsoft so it must be a virus - Utter garbage AVOID AT ALL COSTS and if anyone in an enterprise environment says there going to buy it for you sack them immediately as they are clueless

We have used Sophos for 20 or so years.
We are in the UK and support was local geographic regions. It was fast and efficient. Now it seems support has been moved elsewhere and there is a language barrier to deal with along with inexperience and lack of knowledge with the Sophos products. We often find logging support requests with Sophos painful. The logging of support tickets is quick, and the initial response is quick, however it takes days to get through their Sophos first line support to someone who understands the problem and knows what they are doing to investigate!
In the last couple of years Sophos have removed their Account Managers, so the generic resellers you deal with when you renew or look to buy new products do not know Sophos products. We have been mis-sold Sophos Firewall products with limited numbers of firmware updates - For a security product this is madness. We are looking to move to another security vendor, which is sad, but we have had enough of Sophos.

I had been using Reflection email filtering software for many years which came to 'end of life' on 31st March 2023. I asked Sophos what their suggested replacement was and they promised to get their 'senior CAM' to 'loop up' and 'reach out' to me (yuch!) in order to get one of their ISPs to sell me their new product. Incredibly 4 people were involved with this and surprise surprise - I never heard from them again. So that's there approach to customer service in a nutshell!

my job uses sophos for my remote security, absolutely atrocious. itll slow down your computer so much, not to mention the amount of apps it opens every day and keeps running in the background, i have 8 sophos apps running taking up 90% of my memory according to task manager. i really hate this software a lot lol

Created an account, email address was verified, but I could not login. Password has been reset several times, no result. Sent an email to Support, no answer.
Chatting is impossible, because you need to login first.
Finding an answer on the website is not possible, because you have to login. Assistance by phone directs you to a support.home.sophos.com, where you have to login to find answers. I give up and find another company that cares about new customers.

This product has suddenly just appeared on my pc, and I can't get it off. It is using up all of my CPU and memory when I'm just on my desktop with no apps open. I've tried every conceivable method to get this programme of my pc but can't, why? because it all boils down to a simple but questionable feature called tamper protection that requires a password to get it to uninstall of your PC (I have seen many reviews where it doesn't even fully uninstall from the pc). I don't have that password and have never received one. Their customer support is almost non-existent, and I have to use online forums to try and resolve my issue. Nothing has worked so I have 2 options now. 1) Learn coding to try and get it off that way or 2) Factory reset my entire pc just so I can get that ridiculous programme off (if that even works)
Sophos is built like and acts like malware using up all my CPU and memory whilst being virtually impossible to uninstall.
If you really need antimalware software, then invest in other companies like Norton or Mcafee that I've used in the past with no problems.
(Sophos magically appeared on my computer as soon as my Norton subscription ran out so when I was unprotected)

I thought Sophos Home was supposed to take care of security for me.

Then I went to "read more" and there was something that could be dowloaded "to clean up viruses that my software has missed"! Some advert for Sophos!

Then I read this "Recovery Instructions:
Cleanup for this potentially unwanted application (PUA) is available with Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000/XP/2003, version 6.0. Please follow the instructions for removing applications." Which led me to a load of technical stuff I don't understand (remember I am a Home user). I went to the help facility and the person there told me to talk to tech support. Useless.

Tech support gave me more advanced techy reading to do. Then gave me a US (I am in Spain) phone number for help.

My question is that I thought I had bought Sophos so that it would clean threats up for me. Maybe that was in the old days.

I am now looking for a new anti virus provider that can look after me as my degree is in physics and not computer science!

Once a year Sophos would tell me I needed to pay for service; the last time was in January. but when I started having problems last week I called and was told that my protection was outdated and that Infinite Solutions and something called Bro would be put on. And they were. But then lots of problems ensued and someone took control of my computer--it was hacked. Apparently I was NOT talking to Sophos and di not know this. I asked the local store to take everything off. I called the number but was put off about a partial refund and have never received one. A warning: I do not know if I was cheated by Sophos or if I was scammed by "Steve McCoy" at 650-282-3580, ext 121, though I last dealt with " Mr. Stanley," the "supervisor" at 650-233-3418. I also spoke with "Melvin Carter" and "David Wayne, with Infinite Solutions, at 1-878-999-8893. Don't know if Sophos does outsource: either way I am out money.
For some reason these south Asian outsourced companies think Americans can not retain south Asian names so the individuals are sporting these improbable names. The real Sophos can't explain any of this and so far has refused to refund my partial payment for the annual antivirus scan.

Sophos XG free is really great works nice and is free if you know how to setup it right is works the way you want.

The best Antivirus for my Mac... I have user other competitor but without this level of protection at this price. Since some year I'm using Sophos and I'm very happy with it!

Nothing but pain.
I am running a MacBook Pro with OS 12.4 and VPN.
Had issues installing and uninstalling - blocked my VPN even after uninstall.
Customer service is poor, the chatbot is useless. Email support is slow and not able to live chat or call for support.
Worse purchase.

Paid for premium for multiple devices. Got nothing. Whatever they send comes from some 3rd party you can never find again. Horrible customer service as everyone has said, and they take responsibility for nothing.

For several years I have had a Sophos firewall in my business, it wasn't cheap to install. Each year, you need to buy a new licence to keep it working but Sophos will not actually sell you this, it's beneath them to deal with their customers and you must go to a 'reseller' who adds a significant mark up.

Not only do they not deal with you, now you can't even contact them because the link to contact them in their reminder email sends you to a non-existant mail box.

Having been reminded that I needed a new licence, I approached a reseller only to be told that the product is now deemed to be out of date and I will need to replace the whole thing but wait, because of chip shortages I can't do that at the moment.

So Sophos are leaving us high and dry at the end of this month with no protection because the won't renew our licence or provide anything new because they can't.

Needless to say, they have just lost a long standing customer.

I don't know about the company itself and probably no antivirus will be affective enough against the growing sins of the generation, but for me, it was a miracle I downloaded at some point their virus removal tool (free) - which I was 'going to put onto a stick for just in case' but didn't manage to.
One day, I 'forgot' about all the germs that come down with the presents (downloads) and skipped the extra scanning (usually VirusTotal) and suddenly found myself with a non responding computer! I tried Microsoft virus remover tool (it wouldn't even allow me to open start / settings to use my regular antivirus!) but after 15 hours it was up to nowhere.
Then I tried Sophos and could not believe my fortune when after maybe 10 minutes it had found (at least the main) virus, removed it and gave me a button to reboot (remember I couldn't open my start to do that myself!).
It restarted completely back up and running like nothing would've happened!

The device Sophos XG115W , Serial No: C190A38FVT6H724 was under warranty and they don't respond. They give time and schedule a call but they don't turn up for troubleshooting. The device is simply dead but they take no action to replace it. Its the worst product and service.

Sophos is doing a very poor job in protecting the enterprise from inappropriate website access. Working for Shell, I suffer from their Sophos implementation each and every day. They block my sports club, they block translation services, such as translate.com, they block everything - just to be on the safe site. It makes using the Internet a horrible experience.

Paid for the premium service, never got to use any premium features. After paying and activating premium the software continues to countdown the trial days until expiration. Contacted support, they sent me a non https:// link with instructions to click and download an .exe file so they can enter my system remotely to have a look on what's going on... I'm sorry, what?! Still didn't got any refund by the way. Avoid Sophos. Waste of time.
