The whole experience with SmoothRed from start to finish was just excellent. We would highly recommended them and will be certainly using them again.
Everything was planned very well and went without a hitch from the airport transfers, to our hotel which was lovely, to our amazing driver Marco and all the arranged wine tastings and tours.

Working with Smooth Red for our custom trip to Scotland and Ireland was a wonderful experience. We felt heard and supported in the planning process and throughout the trip. Marike created a bespoke itinerary that honored our interests in exploring places of wild natural beauty, hiking, history, culture (music, dance, falconry, sheepherding) and visiting my husband’s ancestral village. In Scotland, our driver/guide was a lively storyteller who wore a kilt and kept us entertained throughout. In Ireland, our driver/guide was an interesting conversationalist who showed us many places of natural beauty that extended our already excellent itinerary. Carolina took care of us before and throughout our trip, making reservations for experiences and meals we wanted to add and any changes we wanted to make as we travelled. We asked to stay in a mix of four star and five star accommodations, and that worked out perfectly. Smooth Red offers an App with a “living” itinerary, offering day by day details, names, phone numbers, walking maps, weather reports, notifications of any changes, additional suggestions for free time and reminders about upcoming plans. We have done a lot of travelling over many years, and this was one of our most stress free and delightful trips. We are already thinking about planning future trips with our Smooth Red team.

The coach driver Henri was the icing on the cake. Qualified sommelier with a fantastic knowledge of the wine industry. We had a question and answers every day.

SmoothRed helped my daughter and I plan a 70/40 birthday celebration in the UK. It was our first time using SmoothRed and we will definitely ask for their help with future trips. The guides/drivers were excellent - both knowledgeable and nice. Our hotel stays were fantastic and every meal was special. The SmoothRed app was so helpful - every detail for the trip was there. Also, SmoothRed kept in touch the entire week and checked in regularly.

Jack and Marjorie of SmoothRed organised a truly memorable trip to the Champagne region and Paris for my birthday. Having used them some years ago for a similar experience, we asked them to arrange for us to visit specific Champagne Houses and they created an amazing itinerary for us. We stayed in 3 hotels over 4 nights, Assiette Champenoise & The Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa in the Champagne region and Cheval Blanc in Paris where we had the most amazing meal in their 3*Michelin restaurant. SmoothRed’s attention to detail was superb, from transportation to visits and birthday surprises along the way! I had the best birthday ever! It goes without saying we would wholeheartedly recommend this company. Special thanks to Jack and Marjorie for all their help in making this trip so memorable!

I rate my experience, as planned by SmoothRed, in the Champagne Region of France as excellent. We spent two whole days with their guides, The information, attention, and pace was perfect. The guides were very open to our suggestions; however, all their suggestions dripped with meaningful history and importance. Ryan and Carolina worked hard to ensure that our trip to Reims was exactly what we wanted. From finding a hotel in the perfect location, to arranging champagne tours and tastings and recommending restaurants. Carolina dealt with all requests for amendments in a positive way and I never felt that I was being a nuisance. Our guide for the tour of three champagne houses was exceptional. We all felt is was a wonderful experience and allowed us to create more amazing memories. Would I use SmoothRed again - absolutely.

Marjorie and Chris were amazing to work with. Our traveling from city to city went extremely smoothly and we had all the documents and tickets we needed in the app! We had a credit at a hotel to utilize during our stay, when we left the hotel accidentally charged us. I told Marjorie about it, and that same day, the hotel fixed the balance on my account! Our tour guides were amazing and super knowledgeable! Amazing trip!

2nd time using SmoothRed - Excellent

We've used SmoothRed for a trip last year to Burgundy and the Loire valley and used it again a couple weeks ago for a trip to the Douro and Porto. In both cases they were well organised and enjoyable tours with some very personalised experiences.

On our recent visit to Portugal we were able to have some excellent personal tours of smaller wineries with some excellent wine and some great hospitality.

The team at SmoothRed did a great job in particular as we had a last minute change as one of our party could not join us and modifications needed to be made last minute. Everything went off without a hitch.

I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Alexander, our guide was brilliant, entertaining with a very extensive knowledge of the complete process of growing through to bottling and a good knowledge of vintages and tastes.
The best wine we sampled was:
Chateau Trapet Grand Cru Chambertin 2008 - bought 3 bottles, now safely stored in our cellar along with several cases of assorted Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

We had a fabulous trip to the Rioja region of Spain thanks to the superb itinerary developed by the Smooth Red team. Beautiful hotels, a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide, fabulous Bodegas selected for wine tasting and a wonderful lunch in a Michelin starred restaurant. The communication throughout the whole booking process was excellent and the app is a great resource. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Sincere thanks to everyone at SmoothRed for a wonderful trip! We truly enjoyed all the activities and hotels in London, Cambridge, and Bath. All of the tour guides were exceptional, and we loved the accommodations. There were so many memorable parts of our trip, including the freedom to explore; the suggested activities; the scheduled events, including private, expertly led tours; the professional and safe car rides; outstanding accommodations; and reservations at restaurants we wanted to dine at. Words cannot express my gratitude for the incredible professional job Chris and Laurianne did planning our trip to Amsterdam and Scotland. Every single detail was seen to... from the chauffeurs to the private guides, to the dinner reservations, to the fabulous hotels! I gave them a budget and they came in under budget with wonderful accommodations and dinners. I loved the way they put together the entire itinerary, then gave us choices and asked for suggestions to finish the details. My daughter-in-law loves bookstores and libraries and they made sure to include stops just to make her smile! The private guided chauffeur trips were so much fun! We loved not having to drive on those days, especially on the day of the Whiskey Trail adventures and the tour of the entire Isle of Skye. We're looking forward to planning another adventure of a lifetime and will ask Chris and Laurianne to plan the whole thing. The hardest part will be deciding where they should take us next!

This was our 4th trip using SmoothRed. Each trip they get a little better tech on their app. This trip was flawless through this wine region. They have some of the best wine guides along with contacts for cooking classes, hotels, shuttle drivers and dining in the business. Their continuous contact via the app is very helpful and stress free.

I discovered SmoothRed as a result of an online search for “ custom, luxury tours of Ireland and Scotland.”

I was directed to a site that required me to submit some information regarding travel plans and within a day I got a telephone call from Chris at SmoothRed.

I’ll abbreviate the process by summarizing that SmoothRed put together a private tour of Ireland and Scotland for my husband and me that we will treasure for the rest of our days.

They coordinated private drivers, reservations at spectacular hotels, memorable tours and unforgettable activities throughout our travels.

They made some reservations at recommended local restaurants as well.

The entire planning process and throughout our itinerary, the staff at SmoothRed were professional, responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They also provided a customized app with every daily detail of our trip including reservation information, drivers names, numbers and arrival detail, tour guide names and numbers, any and all information pertaining to our trip was at our immediate disposal.

I highly recommend SmoothRed if you want to plan a customized tour of any part of Ireland and the UK.

We had a great trip. All the Hotels were great to perfect.
Hotel Le Pavillon des Lettres in Paris was perfect. Each night after touring we were able to sit in the foyer, have a snack and a cocktail to unwind before heading to dinner. The dinner cruise on the Seine River was a great start to a great vacation. Our tour guide for the Le Louvre and our walk through the Latin Quarter was fabulous. She was very informative and the pace was just right.
Versailles bike tour was a lot of fun. Lunch by the pond with the goodies we purchased at the market was very enjoyable. Our guide OJ, was a lot of fun and he explained the history in a fun easy way to understand.
The highlight for me in Paris was Normandy. Antoine Muriel our guide for the two days was fabulous. What passion and knowledge he has for what took place for D Day to happen. It was a big eye opener for me. And Mont Michel! What can you say, how did they build that is amazing! The Hotel Villa Lara was beautiful, and walking distance to the town strip as I call it.
One thing I would have changed was to stay in Portofino longer! I would have loved to stay there a couple more days. The hotel was gorgeous, our sea front view rooms were fabulous. Just not enough time to really enjoy the flavor of the town.
Florence Hotel Orto De Medici was very nice. Nicholas our tour guide was fantastic. Again a very knowledgeable and compassionate guide. You could feel his heart in every word he spoke.
Sebastien our driver to Tuscan was amazing. I don’t know how they drive there but they do and do it extremely well. Our visit to Badia a Passignano cellars was educational to say the least. The meal, the wine and the service was exceptional. Hotel Athena was very nice with one exception. The bathtub did have mold in the shower (if needed I do have a photo). Otherwise, it was very nice as I said.
Our wine tours in Chianti were great. We enjoyed two that were set up, but were too tired to make the third one. Cispiano Wine Farmhouse was great, we learned even more about wine and the spices used in wine making. Definitely a gold mine for people who want to learn about wine.
On to Rome. What can one say, it is a city all its own. Terrace Pantheon Relais Hotel location was fabulous as well as the hotel accommodations. Vatican, Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s resting place, and of course the Colosseum were all a site to see. Our guide again did a fabulous job explaining things to us.
To Sorrento by train! That was a fabulous way to go, very impressive, and fast. The Grand Hotel de la Ville was exquisite! We enjoyed our balcony sea view room very much. Again all the tours were great. The all-day boat tour was the best way to end our trip. The Mediterranean Sea and the Amalfi coast are beautiful, the clearest blue water I have ever seen, and to swim in it! What more can you do!

SmoothRed did an absolutely amazing job of constructing a trip suited exactly to our preferences.  The entire trip was executed without a single hitch, even with multiple forms of transportation involved and many transfers.  We cannot imagine putting together a customized vacation without using SmoothRed again!
