SLIMBOOK Omdömen 

I bought an Excalibur 16" last year after a long careful look for a linux compatible machine with a good screen and an AMD platform. I'm very pleased with it.

The hardware is good-to-excellent - the high resolution screen is superb, the keyboard is fine (including numpad), and trackpad also decent although not macbook level. Looks great, nice case and hinges etc are excellent. Performance is fine.
Linux has a few issues that need a bit more work - power management can be spotty and I have had screen glitches that seem to be a general issue with the Radeon graphics - this is an area where everyone is having problems, it seems. Windows runs OK too - but also not great at sleep/wake so perhaps there is an underlying issue with the BIOS. I don't think this is down to Slimbook, it goes back to AMD.

Support from Slimbook is excellent - they always reply to emails, genuinely try to answer questions, and it's clear that they really want to help their customers. 10/10 for this.

Some of the online documentation could be clearer and better written (in English versions, at least) - the BIOS/EC upgrade guide is a good example. It's nearly there, but it does not include all the things that happen and in this process, that causes anxiety...

I'd certainly recommend Slimbook (and have done) for the quality at a good price, the serious effort to support Linux properly, and for the genuine support.

I bought Excalibur Refresh (later called as Excalibur Blue) at the end of November 2024. Got it in the middle of December 2024. At first the device looked great and solid but after 8 hours of casual use it burnt something on it's motherboard. The support team responded quite quickly to my issue and I got my new laptop repaired under warranty with no costs. I am currently using this laptop everyday since middle of January 2025 (normal use and heavy gaming at full TDP/power) and I did not encounter any issues.
The only thing I could complain is quite trashy internal microphone but this doesn't bother me too much because microphone from earphones resolves this issue.

The only thing that the company could do better in my opinion is more frequent communicating to their customers regarding their order and service request and better quality testing. Sometimes I got impression that my case was pushed forward once I contacted support team. I must admit that I was quite impatient (most expensive laptop in my life) and time of the year could make the company very busy (Christmas, New Year's Eve) but this is just my impression.

Regarding quality testing I expected that laptop for that price (over 1000 euros is a lot for a new laptop in Poland) would not have Tux logo placed not straight and screen protection film not removing completely (parts of it remained under screen bezel). On the other hand you will not find anywhere laptop with that good build quality (full aluminium body), high performance (Ryzen 7 8845HS), possibilities of upgrade and perfect screen and keyboard in lower price than Slimbook has.

Overall with some small trade-offs this is great value for money.

Great products! Since 2018, I have bought three laptops, all from Slimbook. I prefer Linux configurations with much memory. For virtualization, good performance and use them in the long term as servers. Super recomendable!

Slimbook proX 14 el portátil más absurdo con el que tiré el dinero.
Lo compré en 2020 con Ryzen 7 4000 y ampliado entonces a 16 GB de RAM. En teoría debería ser hoy día funcional y durar para mucho más pero no...

El portátil funcionar funciona. El problema es que alguien que se compra un portátil fino de 14 pulgadas es para que sea portable y aún con ahorro de energía y bajando el brillo al máximo nunca ha durado la batería más de tres horas y media. Un despropósito total. La garantía de la empresa ha sido el peor fiasco del mundo. Después de seis meses no responden por la batería (cuando no es la batería sino un ensamblaje de componentes en conjunto ineficiente y poca batería), les comento problemas con el altavoz y también se lavan las manos. Tienes que ir a un cargador pegado. Pero es que aún hay más, los señores lumbreras tuvieron la genial idea de ponerles un cargador gigante de carga rápida. Cuando digo gigante es que abulta mucho más que el portátil. No te cabe en las fundas de 14' que tienen un bolsillo para ello.

Entonces, señores lumbreras de Slimbook, ¿quién fue la mente pensante de tal idiotez? Tener un portátil fino y de 14' pulgadas para que sea portable pero no te lo puedes llevar porque la batería aguanta un tercio de la jornada laboral y tienes que cargar con un cargador de dimensiones exageradas.

Ahí tengo un portátil que me fastidia usarlo hasta en casa porque el cargador hasta cuando estoy en el sofá con él encima está enchufado con un cargador gigante que molesta lo que no está escrito, como la batería dura nada (y se la he cambiado recientemente comprada a vuestra web a precio de oro) pero no es problema del mal estado de la misma, lo es de vuestro producto.

Aposté por Slimbook por no querer irme a la manzana podrida, y con todo el dolor de mi alma ha sido la peor compra tecnológica que he hecho nunca. Tiré más de mil euros por la borda.

(Hace poco tuve que comprar un módem USB porque vuestra tarjeta de red no vale para Windows, bravo por el lumbreras del ensamblaje, una con otra)

Bought my Slimbook Executive this wall and was very satisfied with it.

The I spilled a very large cup of coffee on it and it wouldn't turn on. I was able to disassemble the laptop and identify the damage to the motherboard and the battery connector.

I am located in the US and the shipping in for repairs would have been very expensive. The Slimbook support team quickly responded to my ticket, agreed from the pictures on the source of the damage and suggested to send a replacement motherboard and battery to save on the shipping.

After replacing the parts, the laptop is working again. The support team was responsive and very reasonable. I couldn't ask for a better service!

Had to update the BIOS and support was very reactive and caring.

I bought a Slimbook Excalibur with Debian installed, and I wouldn't recommend it. I wanted to reinstall Debian straight away for multiple reasons, and that proved to be a hassle: it took me almost 10 days to get it up and running. I find that very strange for a laptop which is supposed to be Linux-friendly by design, because I've installed various Linux distributions on other laptops and I don't recall ever getting into such trouble. But the worst is that after reinstalling Debian, I got a lot of serious bugs (e.g. external monitor constantly blinking) which I never encountered on other laptops.

So in the end I decided to return the laptop. The process for doing so is far from being straightforward, you have to fill in the same information multiple times, and print a document (some other brands make you print a document but that's the only thing you have to do, and that's because they pay for shipping so you have to print the shipping label).

All in all I lost 50 euros (36 euros of return shipping + around 15 euros which they deducted from the refund, I'm not sure why). So I had a pretty bad experience, but I'm still rating Slimbook 2 stars to give them the benefit of the doubt, because they seem to act in good faith (though such a complicated return process makes me think it might have been done on purpose).

L'ordinateur est arrivé avec 1 pixel mort et deux touches du clavier mal insérée. La touche "mode avion" ne fonctionne pas sous Ubuntu/Gnome ou Linux Mint, ni même sur leur propre OS (Slimbook OS), mais parfaitement sur les environnements Fedora/KDE par exemple (Ils font la promo de laptop vendu avec KDE pré-installé en ce moment...). J'ai écris mon propre patch, comme d'habitude, et que je dois maintenir à jour, pour faire fonctionner la touche "avion" du coup. C'est précisément pour ne PAS faire cela que j'ai acheté un ordinateur avec le "support" de Linux de base...

Ah, le portable (Executive 14), consomme 40 watts sur batterie, en mode silencieux et sans le mode silencieux. C'est un problème, car du coup ça chauffe. Mais si on le branche sur le secteur, avec chargeur officiel ou USB-C, en mode silencieux, il est possible de travailler avec cet ultra portable sur les genoux... Car il ne consommera que 15 watts. Cela fait 6 mois qu'ils m'ont dit qu'ils travaillaient sur un patch à ce propos...

Bref, un gros SCAM. Je déteste cet ordinateur, et Slimbook.

Hace 8 meses compré un ordenador y hace una mes apareció con un defecto en la pantalla. Me puse en contacto con el Servicio Técnico de Slimbook, que me organizaron la recogida del ordenador por la empresa UPS. Yo dejé el ordenador en una taquilla de PUDO, subcontratada por la empresa UPS para recoger los paquetes, y debido a la incompetencia de UPS, el ordenador estuvo perdido más de 15 días, sin forma de localizarlo a través del tracking. UPS negaba que yo hubiera dejado el ordenador en la taquilla, pero Slimbook siempre intentaron interceder por mi frente a UPS y me transmitieron la tranquilidad en todo momento de que si el ordenador no aparecía, Slimbook buscaría una solución, ya que ellos habían organizado el transporte.
Milagrosamente el ordenador apareció hace 4 días en Slimbook transportado por UPS y en cuanto llegó, lo arreglaron y al día siguiente ya lo tenía perfecto en Zaragoza. Quiero agradecer al equipo de Slimbook la atención recibida y recomendar a esta empresa por su servicio y calidad en los ordenadores que venden.

He comprado ya varios portatiles y todos ha salido muy buenos.
Siempre están innovando. Tienen el mejor hardware.
Para mi es la mejor empresa de laptops para linux de todo internet.
Lo recomiendo muchísimo.

At first, I didn't know which computer/configuration would be the most suitable for me, but I had a smooth experience talking to them and defining the best choice. I couldn't be happier. Four years later my laptop works just fine, despite using it daily at work in computationally expensive tasks. The day I need to update my computer I'll probably buy another Slimbook.

Everything was great: hardware, assistance and marketing they are very flexible and manage to satisfy you the best they can and sometime even a little more.

Great customer service
I had a problem with the battery, customer service was very reactive and helpful, with detailed answers and good video tutorials.

I was able to change the battery myself easily, thanks to the support and also to the fact that the computers are thought to be opened and fiddle with easily.

First of all, you need to understand what you are getting into when you are purchasing Clevo-made laptops: the quality is not going to be on par with the top brands but in exchange you get:
- Customizability + repairability
- Extra options like Linux out of the box.

The purchasing process was great, the box was well package and I understood exactly what is the status of the order.

Slimbook went an extra mile providing some extra software to use their devices on Linux. Quality is hit-and-miss but everything is well-documented and not something that you expect with a small company.

They are very responsive on their forums as well.

Executive is a good laptop - overall very satisfied, some regular shortcomings of Clevo are there:
- keyboard travel does not feel as nice as laptops with the red dot, touchpad looks like the one on laptops with apple logo but does not feel as nice. They are still very usable
- build quality does not feel like it can take a lot of abuse but it's good enough for everyday use and it's very light, pleasant to hold.

That said, I don't think that any shortcomings of the laptop should take from the experience with the company which has been great!

Bought an Excalibur 16, a bit sceptical at first, but that was for no reason.
Slimbook is great, the support team is fantastic, the laptop itself is fantastic, great pricing, great customization, rapid delivery even tho I live in France.

Overall this is a very reliable company. I bought my first product (KDE/Linux Laptop) back in 2018. Once I had a hardware issue. After sending them the laptop, they repaired the device without any costs!
Quick and high quality responses are normal if you need some assistance with your device.

If you need a reliable and powerful Laptop with up-to-date hardware at reasonable costs, then you should definitely check out their products! Especially if you are an Open-source and Linux enthusiast.

I bought a PROX15 years ago and recently, the laptop got a technical problem. I've sent it to the support and received it back working like the first day. They've also explained to me all the details of the solution and they were very kind during the service.

he tenido que cambiar el teclado de mi portátil. El acceso a repuestos oficiales y videos subidos por la propia marca para poder repararlo yo, sin necesidad de enviarlo o gastar un dinero que me hubiera hecho plantearme sustituir todo el equipo, me parece un gran acierto, barato y ecológico.

Estaba encantado con el portátil, pero al poco de acabar la garantía, la placa hizo puf, fuera de garantía me dijeron que cambiarla costaba unos 600. Lo peor es que conozco a bastante gente que le ha pasado lo mismo con diferentes modelos de la marca. Desgraciadamente tendré que optar por marcas conocidas e instalar yo Linux para que me dure más que la garantía..
Es una pena que una empresa española y con Linux sea tan poco fiable y no le den la importancia que deberían al postventa.
