I have just had the absolute worst experience and service from Skills for English. The only reason I registered with them was because they are on the list of approved service providers, for the English test requirement for my visa application. I followed everything correctly to the tee, registered, payed (they were the most expensive of the approved service providers, but I chose them since they had the earliest available slot for my test) and booked my test with a local test centre.
On arrival, after waiting for a while, I was informed I am unable to do the test as my date of birth does not correspond to the information on Skills for English’s system. The test centre tried resolving this, but informed me that it unfortunately it needs to be addressed from Skills for English’s side since it is a technical problem on their system.
When I got home, I logged onto my Skills for English’s registration profile, and confirmed that every single bit of information I provided, was in fact correct - including my date of birth. So I have no idea why they said the date of birth do not match.
I sent an email. I received a call back (which surprised me). It was really hard understanding the lady, since she was not a native English speaker. I kept reiterating that I do not understand why they think my date of birth is not correct, as it most definitely is correct. I even provided them with a screen shot of my registered profile confirming this.
She then she started saying my ID number is incorrect. An ID number was never discussed until now, and nowhere requested on the registration or appointment booking process. It only gives you a choice to use a legal travel document (passport) or government issued identification. I opted for my passports therefore obviously provided my passport number as means of identification. Which as noted before, was the correct number I provided, during my registration.
After a lot of forward and backwards conversation (trying to understand what she is saying), with myself repetitively reminding her that I did not give any incorrect information, she told me to create a new profile. I asked her what about my payment already made and me needing a new appointment booking, which should be free of charge since I provided 100% correct information on my application and registration, at which point she said, I will need to pay again as my identification did not match their records. I am gum smacked. It’s like I was speaking to a robot.
I am out of pocket, did everything correctly, following the registration process 100%, provided 100% correct information, even provided proof of that, but have not been provided a test, and was told to re-book and pay again.
What is happening to the world we live in?
Does no one take pride in their businesses anymore?
Does no one understand what providing an honest service means?
Why do businesses get away with dishonest trading?
My husband took the phone, demanded he speaks to a manager. We are still waiting for a call back.
I’ve just received an email response back, apologizing that I was unable to take the test and simply telling me I can re-book on their website.
So re-book and pay again!!!!
