No equipment, ruined party and no refund

I ordered the silent disco a couple of weeks ahead of my party which was planned for 27/12. I was told that I would have them delivered on 24/12 due to the Xmas period. The courier company gave me a 2 hour window for delivery, and then delivered 20 minutes BEFORE time stated. I missed the delivery because I was working to the time given by THEM!

They said that they will redeliver on 29/12, which was 2 days after my party. I couldn’t get hold of anyone to resolve this due to the time of year, so my party went ahead without them (very disappointed). On 29th I had a courier arrive to collect the headsets (which I obviously didn’t have), and then 5 hours later I received a notification to say that I can now collect them from a local newsagent!! Shambles

I contacted Silent Disco Stars feeling confident that they would do the right thing as they could see that it wasn’t my fault, I expected a the very least a refund, but they have refused. They deemed that it’s my fault. The girl you speak to is less than helpful and does not represent the company well.

Ruined party and out of pocket 😡

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re genuinely sorry to hear how disappointing this experience was for you, especially as it was for a planned celebration.

To explain why we’re unable to refund in this case: when a hire is confirmed, we advise that someone needs to be available at the given delivery address between 8am and 6pm on the delivery day. The courier then provides an estimated time window via tracking to help customers plan their day, but this is never guaranteed and can change due to traffic, route changes, or weather conditions. In your case, the driver arrived around 20 minutes earlier than the estimated window, which unfortunately meant the delivery was missed as no one was at the delivery address, but this is still considered a valid delivery attempt under the courier’s terms.

The tracking link provided by the courier also updates throughout the day, showing how many stops away the driver is and adjusting the ETA accordingly — this is the most accurate way to monitor arrival on the day.

The equipment was packed correctly, dispatched on the agreed date, sent to the correct address, and handed to the courier in good time. While we completely understand how frustrating this must have been, especially given the timing around Christmas, there was nothing further we could do once a valid delivery attempt had been made.

If we were made aware that you were working that day and would not be available at the given address, then we could have helped. We could have gotten it delivered to your work address if able or to a friend/family member. The couriers also give 'leave safe' options so you could have provided a back up option such as 'leave with neighbour if not in'. The courier and ourselves were not aware that no one would be available at the address as this is expected as default and assistance is given if this isn't the case.

We were genuinely saddened that this resulted in a missed experience and appreciate how upsetting that would have been. We did our best to help where possible, but unfortunately we couldn’t resolve this in the way you had hoped.

Everything was brilliant!

The booking was easy and the delivery and collection ran smoothly. We had to change the collection address due to work demands and this was no trouble for them to do and they were great about it. The equipment worked well and everyone at our party had a great time. Would recommend to everyone and definitely use again.

The Silent Disco Stars - Great experience

The Silent Disco Stars were really helpful.
No question too difficult.
Any queries resolved. Equipment not too difficult for middle aged technophobes to use.
A fantastic fun night for any age, the best laugh we have had for ages.
Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic!

We had an excellent experience with Silent Disco Stars. Communication was prompt and helpful throughout and they allowed us to add to the number of headsets we required once we knew exact numbers for our party. Delivery was straightforward and everything was clearly packaged and very easy to use. We had a fantastic night and would highly recommend using this company!

Didn’t deliver on the services they offer

I hired a karaoke machine for a hen do. It was due for delivery on Thursday (for their standard Thursday–Monday hire), but I was told on Wednesday it would be split between Thursday and Friday. Since I was leaving on the Friday, I asked for it to be re-routed to our lodge for the weekend. At 3pm on the Friday, with guests arriving at 5, I was told it wouldn’t be delivered until the Monday collection date. I had no choice but to buy one last-minute, which was stressful, costly, time consuming and meant we lost a day of using the karaoke. The company did refund me and were apologetic, but with such a limited hire window, relying solely on couriers without better safeguards just isn’t good enough.

Hi Lauren, we are very sorry to hear of the recent experience you had with our Karaoke Hire Stars company. It is very sad to hear your equipment didn't come in time for your event. I can see that staff contacted you on Thursday as soon as DPD delayed one of your parcels to let you know and get this sent out to your other address on Friday instead as you were travelling. I can see our staff checked this in the morning of the Friday and called DPD to ensure it was going out for delivery that day to your address in which DPD confirmed this. Staff called DPD again at 2pm as the parcel still hadn't been sent out as advised which is where it was revealed that DPD hadn't actioned the change of address correctly which is what caused this delay. Our staff promptly called you to let you know of this and to pass their sincere apologies on. They had explored other options with DPD but with no success. We have passed our feedback onto DPD about this delivery as it was improperly handled across two days which resulted in this delay and missed hire. Our staff were so disappointed for you especially as they worked so hard to do everything they can to get this out to you. I suggested a silent disco for my…

I suggested a silent disco for my daughter’s 6th birthday and it went down a storm. The kids loved it, we played games involving the headsets and set up a playlist so the kids could listen to their favourite tracks. The delivery and collection was seamless, the quality and ease of the kit was perfect and we even used them again for a family BBQ over the weekend. Great value for money and we will be using them again. Thank you for a memorable weekend.

Fabulous silent disco hire company

What a fantastic silent disco birthday party we had!! All thanks to the efficiency and friendliness of the Silent Disco Stars team, from beginning to end. All queries I had prior to ordering were answered promptly. Ordering was easy. Delivery happened as arranged and they even arranged for the uplift again. When we opened the box everything was stacked neatly with clear instructions. I can't recommend this company for your silent disco more! If I was to arrange a silent disco again, I'll definitely be back!! Thank you!!

Silent disco in house for 60th party

Hired 20 headsets and 3 players in November for a 60th party in house. We had a great time with silent disco. Headsets and playlists were brilliant. All were delivered and collected on time and deposit returned within a few days of equipment return. Will definitely use again.

An Amazing Experience!

Silent Disco Stars were absolutely amazing from start to finish! We were running a charity event and as soon as they heard that all the money being raised was going to support children and families in need they not only gave us a custom price, but also helped gave us a handful of extra lights to make the disco even more special. Thank you to everyone who helped out, especially to Ashleigh who was amazing at responding to our questions! We can't recommend these guys enough and we'll be back in the future!

Great product, service and price!!

Really impressed with this outfit. Communication was great and team were available for queries, kit was great and easy to set up. Everything went as it should - zero issues. Most importantly, these guys were much cheaper than any other quotes I found by a long way, and headphones had 3 channels while most others have 2. Super impressed and definitely recommend!
