Shurgard Self Storage - Basingstoke Omdömen 

After writing a previous positive review for excellent customer service I’m sorry to say that I’ve now got to give them a massive black mark.

The storage facility was a massive help for me during my house move, and I decided to keep a smaller unit there for longer term storage afterwards.

I went in to ask to downsize my unit to a smaller one, what followed was a barrage of quick talking sales speak that was barely comprehensible. The chap kept saying he was making me a great saving, (well of course it’s a saving, it’s a smaller unit) But he seemed to be trying to take credit for it.

Moved the stuff over to the smaller unit.

Later that day they sent an email asking me to confirm I’d moved. I didn’t see the email. I don’t have easy access to my emails as not got my WiFi in yet and don’t have good mobile internet coverage in my area, and I’d told them this, that’s why I went in in person.

Literally later that day they sent me another email saying if I didn’t reply to confirm they would put an overlock on my unit, (impounding my stuff). Apparently their auditors like to have email confirmation.

Let me repeat that. They threatened to impound my stuff. Not because I hadn’t paid my bills, because I didn’t reply to an email on the same day.

Shurgard, this is a final written warning now. If you threaten to impound my stuff again over something trivial, I will find another provider for my long term storage. The only reason I did not do so immediately is because of the hassle factor of doing.

I told you I don’t have easy regular access to my emails, you actually watched me move my stuff so you knew I’d moved units, you have your cctv footage of me moving units, you can see that the old unit was left vacant and you can see that the new unit that was vacant is now occupied, you have my signature on the new contract. You know what unit I’m in, and if you didn’t then how would you know what unit to impound anyway? None of your nonsense stacks up.

Why on earth was there such an urgency to reply to a email on the same day. The preference of your auditors do not give you the right to impound my stuff.

Perhaps your auditors can instead amuse themselves by auditing all your empty units when you drive all your customers away.

Extremely easy and straightforward process. All questions answered and staff very friendly.

Staff are excellent and knowledgeable. I came solely to purchase a box but the staff encouraged me to take a tour of the building and even offered to show me how it works. I’ll definitely be coming back :)
