I would strongly recommend thinking twice before buying a car from SAAC Motors.

Unfortunately, my experience started going downhill almost as soon as I paid the deposit. I had made it clear that I wouldn't buy the car without a fresh MOT, and what followed was nearly two weeks of delays getting the car ready, with very poor communication about when I would actually be able to collect it. They did eventually offer a courtesy vehicle, which I appreciated, but overall I felt that once they had my deposit and knew the sale was secured, the level of customer service dropped considerably.

More concerning was what happened after I bought the car.

Despite being sold with a fresh MOT with no advisories, I subsequently took the car to an official Skoda dealership for an inspection. They identified a number of problems and advised me that the vehicle was not safe to drive until urgent work had been carried out.

Most alarmingly, Skoda showed me that parts around the brake lines underneath the vehicle were being held in place with plastic cable ties. I was advised that this made the vehicle unsafe to drive because if that makeshift fixing failed, it could potentially affect the braking system.

What makes this particularly upsetting is that I bought this car as a family vehicle and my two young daughters were actually with me when I collected it. We drove away from the dealership together in a car that had just been given a fresh MOT with no advisories, only for Skoda to subsequently tell me it wasn't safe to drive.

I find that incredibly difficult to accept. Whether SAAC knew about the condition underneath the car or whether it was missed during the MOT, I can't say. But as a customer and a parent, the idea that I was allowed to drive away with my children in a vehicle that an official Skoda dealership subsequently considered unsafe is, frankly, appalling.

I sent SAAC the Skoda inspection findings and video evidence. I wasn't even asking to return the vehicle — I wanted to keep it. I simply asked them to contribute towards the urgent safety-related repairs. They refused and eventually told me their position was final and they would enter into no further correspondence.

There was also an earlier incident regarding the outstanding balance on the car which left a particularly bad impression. While disputing some issues and telling them I wasn't happy with the resolution they were offering, I was told words to the effect of: “We know where you live, we'll just come over and get the money.”

Regardless of how that was intended, I found it intimidating and completely inappropriate coming from a business owner speaking to a customer.

I fully understand that I bought an older used car and never expected it to be perfect. My issue is that it was sold with a fresh MOT with no advisories, yet shortly afterwards an official Skoda inspection identified safety-related problems serious enough for them to advise me not to drive it.

Between the poor communication, the condition of the vehicle, the discrepancy between the MOT and Skoda's findings, the refusal to help with the safety-related repairs and the way I was spoken to, I personally wouldn't buy from SAAC Motors again.

I have bought 2 cars from Saac motors in the past year and I have to say the service and the cars have been outstanding. Both Roberto and Nic are polite, genuine, and trustworthy, and could not do enough to make sure that I got exactly what I was looking for. The first car they already had in their showroom. They were very quick to attend to an issue it had with the battery and resolved it immediately at no extra cost. The MOT still had 3 months left on it so they offered to do a free MOT after 3 months, which meant we got more than we bargained for.

With the second car, I had very specific requirements, and they patiently sourced me the car that I needed, without trying to push to sell me a car that did not meet my requirements. Both cars have been extremely good, and I will be sure to use Saac motors again, when my daughter passes her driving test.

Sold Me a Car With a Faulty Gearbox – Very Disappointing Experience

Our initial purchase seemed straightforward, although looking back it felt rather unprofessional. We were never offered a test drive and had to ask to view the vehicle ourselves.

We purchased a Nissan Qashqai on finance on 10th July. By 13th July, after driving approximately 40 miles, the gearbox had failed. When the dealership collected the vehicle, I was informed for the first time that a new clutch had been fitted before I bought it. I also justified how many miles I had driven, due to being told the gearbox seemed ok before I purchased, which made me feel as though I was being blamed for the gearbox failure.

The dealership confirmed the gearbox needed replacing and provided us with a courtesy car. Unfortunately, this was a Ford Ka, which was much smaller than the Nissan Qashqai we had purchased and unsuitable for our family's needs. After 10 days we were ungraded to a bigger car which was helpful and more efficient.

After waiting over a week with little to no update, we were told the wrong gearbox had been ordered. This meant a replacement wasn't ordered until 27th July, around two weeks after the car had gone in for repair.

Because of the lack of communication and delays of the part, we began making our own enquiries. Based on information provided by the dealership and our own research, we became concerned about the source of the replacement gearbox. We were initially told it was being sourced through LKQ, but later discovered it was being supplied through LKQ Synetiq's eBay outlet as a used gearbox with approximately 70,000 miles, whereas our vehicle had covered only 46,880 miles.

We explained that we were not comfortable with a used gearbox of unknown history being fitted to a car we had only owned for three days. We obtained our own quotation from Euro Car Parts for a remanufactured gearbox, which came with a 12-month unlimited mileage warranty and was available within a few working days. Unfortunately, we could not reach an agreement with the dealership over the repair.

Communication throughout the process became increasingly difficult. During one phone call, I experienced what I considered to be rude and unprofessional behaviour, which left me feeling extremely uncomfortable. At one stage, I was offered money alongside fitting the used gearbox instead of the remanufactured unit I had requested. I declined because my priority was having the vehicle repaired using a part I felt confident in. This conversation was recorded and reflects the events described above.

Beyond the inconvenience and stress, what concerned me most was the safety aspect. A major drivetrain failure within three days of purchase inevitably made me question whether the vehicle had been roadworthy when it was sold to us. Whether or not the fault could have been detected beforehand, the experience left me feeling that my family's safety had been placed at unnecessary risk, and it completely undermined our confidence in the vehicle.

By this stage, after almost four weeks without our car, we had completely lost confidence in both the vehicle and the dealership. This was also influenced by other issues we had identified, including bodywork defects and an unresolved door handle problem. As a result, we decided to unwind the finance agreement rather than proceed with the repair.

To be fair, Roberto processed the unwinding of the agreement promptly and refunded our insurance, tax and deposit quickly, which I appreciate.

I understand that any used car can develop faults, and perhaps we were simply unlucky. However, I believe customers should ask questions about significant repairs, replacement parts and where they are sourced from. Our experience was that a major fault developed within three days of purchase, and the way it was handled left us feeling disappointed and without confidence in the dealership.

I'm sharing this experience so that other buyers, particularly young families, can make an informed decision. Unfortunately, what should have been a relatively straightforward resolution has now turned into several weeks without a vehicle during the school holidays. Overall, I found the customer service disappointing and the experience extremely stressful.

We purchased a Fiat 500 for our daughter’s first car. Took it out for a test drive and identified a few issues both cosmetic and mechanical. Roberto and his team couldn’t do more to deal with these issues to make the car ideal to learn in. Even after it developed an electrical fault with the Bluetooth, the car was collected, fixed and returned (with an upgraded radio console) Great garage and great service.

Excellent experience with buying a used car. Viewing was easy and the car was then prepared with a fresh MOT for me to collect. There was a minor problem with the car that I noticed a few weeks later - SAAC fixed it no problem under their warranty.

So recently bought a Mercedes from SAAC motors , roberto was extremely helpful and managed to source me a much better finance deal than I had in place .had the car a couple of weeks and a fault accrued on the car , now the car was not new and these things happen with cars know that .
