Impossible to get a hold of him
Impossible to get a hold of him, very irresponsible. He has done my taxes and my other family members for last few years and honestly very knowledgeable, we were really pleased with his work. But we have been trying to reach him for past few months, he is not responding to our phone calls, emails and text messages. We still get his weekly tax tip news letter but not able to reach him. Hope he is okay! Otherwise very unprofessional behavior.

Steve Dang engaged Rockefeller Tax Pros on April 15, 2024—the same day his personal income tax return was due. As a courtesy, we prepared and filed a tax extension and subsequently completed his return within two business days of receiving his final documents.
The completed return resulted in a substantial five-figure tax savings. After reviewing the results, Mr. Dang questioned the accuracy of the return, stating he believed he had a $3,000–$5,000 capital loss carryover. We reviewed his 2022 filings and confirmed no such carryover existed. This was communicated to Mr. Dang, who could not provide documentation to support his claim. After clarification and a final review of his Schedule C expenses, he approved the return for filing and signed the IRS authorization under penalty of perjury, affirming the return was “true, correct, and complete.”
Months after filing, Mr. Dang raised additional concerns, suggesting that his income should have been reported through an S corporation. However, all income was issued to him personally—via W-2 and 1099 forms under his name and Social Security number—not to any business entity. Despite repeated requests, Mr. Dang was unable to provide documentation for the S corporation or any other business entity he referenced. At no time was our firm engaged to prepare or file business entity returns.
To clarify: the only service rendered and paid for was the preparation and filing of Mr. Dang’s personal 1040 return, which was completed accurately and in a timely manner based on the documents he provided.
Mr. Dang’s concerns appear to stem from misunderstandings about tax law and filing requirements—not from any inaccuracy or oversight on our part. After completing the tax returns for which he hired us, Mr. Dang repeatedly sought extensive guidance on matters far beyond the scope of the original engagement—always without compensation. These unscheduled calls and messages frequently lasted 30 minutes to over an hour and occurred during evenings, weekends, and even holidays. He also texted referencing our social media activity to imply we were “available” and should respond immediately. Most recently, in March 2025—just one day before the March 15 filing deadline—Mr. Dang reached out to ask whether his S corporation returns had been completed and whether they would be filed on time. However, he had never engaged our firm to prepare those returns. In fact, prior to that, he stated he was still deciding whether to hire us for that work. Given that he was not a retained client for business tax filings, and with multiple confirmed clients requiring attention ahead of the deadline, we did not respond. Coincidentally—or not—his one-star review was submitted shortly thereafter.
Our lack of ongoing response was not neglect—it was a boundary. His demands were unreasonable and unsustainable, particularly given that he had not retained us for continued strategic services or advisory work.
