Renewable Heat Installation and…
I got Renewable Heat Installation and Servicing to install a 16kwh solar array, a Sigenstore 27kwh battery stack with 12kw inverter, gateway and Sigen EVAC charger. At the same time I also got them to install a Vaillant Aerotherm 10kw heat pump and 250L cylinder along with about 7/8 radiator upgrades/swaps.
This was a big, and not cheap install, and I'm finally satisfied with the end result, but it was a real chore trying to get here. This was especially frustrating as everything was agreed in the beginning, but a lot of failures in communication within the company meant things did not run smooth, and what should have been a fairly quick install ended up being months to complete, and days or weeks between visits to rectify relatively small issues, all of which could have been avoided. I won't write chapter and verse as I'd be here all day, but as an example - they were told on the design visit a couple of radiators at the back of the house did not work correctly and I didn't know why. I was told they would price this into the job and be sorted as part of the refit. They installed a further two radiators on the same pipework and I now had 4 radiators not working! They then came back and re-piped the area to sort the problem - but didn't insulate the pipes under the floor when doing so - when I raised this they then came back for a third time to insulate the pipes. Three jobs, over three weeks, when it should have been done in the first place. Other issues were things like one of the guys putting his foot through my ceiling, drilling holes in the garage which were out of alignment with the inside connection, not having the EV charger in stock, and then when they supplied it had the wrong cable........school boy errors.
As it is, everything seems to be running fine for now, it will be winter before I know how good the job really is, but having to constantly badger them to get information or things done was tiring, and it could so easily have been avoided. Someone not as knowledgeable on what was being asked for or short of time could easily have struggled to get to the point I'm at now, it was definitely a bit of a let down, but they did sort everything eventually, which I have to highlight as being a positive.
Would I recommend them? - Unfortunately not, the finished product seems fine, but getting there was just too difficult, and I don't really understand why it had to be that way, I can only guess they bit off more than they could chew work or system wise and dropped the ball repeatedly in doing so.
