Spam Emails and Scams!

I received 3 unsolicited emails from Reaktion regarding a release titled “Salve”. What makes this outreach particularly concerning is that this track was released over four years ago, yet the email framed it as being in an “optimal release window” and implied there was an urgent, time sensitive opportunity to act. Presenting an old catalog release as if it were new or at a critical promotional stage is misleading and immediately undermines credibility.

The message relied heavily on manufactured urgency, using language such as “narrow opportunity” and “moment fades quickly” to push immediate payment for campaigns priced at £299 or more. This approach appears designed to rush artists into decisions rather than provide an honest, informed assessment of whether a release is actually suitable for promotion.

The email also makes extremely broad and unverifiable claims about Reaktion’s industry reach. It lists a vast number of artists, labels, and companies it allegedly delivers campaigns for, including major entities such as Universal Music Group and Virgin Records. No evidence, documentation, timelines, or explanation of the nature of these relationships is provided. In a professional music industry context, associations with companies of that scale are normally transparent, clearly defined, and easy to verify. Presenting them in bulk marketing emails without proof raises serious doubts.

The offer itself is structured around tiered paid packages, discount codes, and promises of access to “top tier tastemakers” and non public promo inboxes, again without any independently verifiable reporting examples or third party confirmation. Artists are asked to trust marketing language rather than concrete data or past results.

Combined with the unsolicited contact, the inaccurate framing of an old release as time critical, and the reliance on pressure driven sales tactics, this communication raises multiple red flags regarding professionalism and legitimacy.

Vandalism Music Label received an unsolicited promotional email regarding a release, using the same high pressure sales language and urgency driven tactics that are already documented in other negative reviews.

The email framed the release as being in a critical promotional window and encouraged immediate action through paid DJ promotion packages. In reality, the track referenced was released years ago, making the claims of urgency and time sensitive opportunity factually inaccurate. Presenting an old catalog release as if it were newly relevant raises serious concerns about how carefully or honestly these campaigns are pitched.

The message relied heavily on marketing language rather than verifiable information. It promoted paid tiers, discount codes, and promises of access to top tier tastemakers and non public DJ inboxes, yet provided no concrete proof, case studies, or independently verifiable reporting to support these claims.

Additionally, the email lists an extensive number of artists, labels, and major companies that they allegedly work with, including very large industry entities. No evidence is provided to explain the nature of these relationships, whether they are past, present, indirect, or limited in scope. From a professional label perspective, this type of name dropping without documentation is a major red flag.

The outreach was unsolicited and clearly sales driven. Legitimate promotional partners usually approach labels with tailored proposals, accurate release context, transparent reporting standards, and clear contractual terms. This email instead focused on urgency, discounts, and pressure to pay upfront.

Taken together with similar experiences reported by other artists and labels, this appears to be a pattern rather than an isolated incident.

Unsolicited, High-Pressure – Beware!

I received an unsolicited email from a company called Reaktion, promoting their so-called “Tastemaker DJ promotion” services for my release “Kyoto Drift”. The email immediately struck me as highly aggressive, sales-driven, and suspicious. They created an artificial sense of urgency, claiming that my release is in a “crucial release window” and pushing for immediate payment of £299+ with the promise of discounts and exclusive access to top-tier DJs.

The content of the email is vague and lacks verifiable evidence. They claim to have overseen dozens of Beatport #1s and secured plays on major platforms like BBC Radio or SiriusXM, yet they provide no concrete proof, documentation, or third-party references to substantiate these claims. The marketing language is excessive, focusing more on high-pressure sales tactics than on clear, transparent promotional services.

Additionally, the email is unsolicited, which is already concerning from a professional standpoint. Legitimate industry services typically approach artists with clear contracts, verifiable track records, and transparent reporting. In contrast, this email relies heavily on creating urgency, pushing add-ons, and emphasizing scarcity to manipulate recipients into making hasty payments.

From my perspective, this communication raises serious red flags about credibility and legitimacy. There is no guarantee that payment would result in actual delivery of services, and the lack of independent verification makes it impossible to trust their claims. It reads more like a marketing scam designed to exploit artists during a key release period rather than a professional promotional company.

Advice to other artists: Proceed with extreme caution. Before engaging with this company, demand verifiable proof of past results, clear reporting standards, and legally binding agreements. High-pressure tactics, large upfront fees, and unverifiable promises are hallmarks of services that may not deliver what they advertise. This email feels designed to manipulate trust rather than provide a legitimate professional service.

In short, I cannot recommend Reaktion for any music promotion needs. Artists should be wary of unsolicited offers that use urgency and high-pressure language to push expensive campaigns with little transparency or accountability.
