Needs to be better communication…

Needs to be better communication between the platform and users. Administrators should be able to edit all communication including text and email to bidders and winners in all stages of the auction.

Greedy admin fees and glitches

A charity i support was using RallyUp for their silent auction.
I was bidding on an item and RallyUp automatically added a tip (this is an admin fee for RallyUp that is supposed to be optional - this is how they make their money)

You have to physically go in and adjust tip amount, then select other and then add $0 - its very sneaky and difficult to navigate. For there not to be an easy option to say no tip is ridiculous. So most people will unwillingly be paying a 15% tip to RallyUp which is way to much!!!! It should be a standard $2 admin fee.

Anyhow, I was bidding on an item and selected no tip, but when i went to the payment section it added a tip amount. I wanted the item and time was running out so i agreed, then was outbid.

Went to bid again, once again i had to adjust the tip amount.

The screen then got stuck on “just a sec” for 4 mins, so i refreshed the page, had to go find the item again and by this stage the auction ended.

Maybe this was because RallyUp wasn’t making money from me so they wouldn’t allow my bid to go through.

I would not not recommend this website, i felt it was dishonest and if i was a charity i would not associate with it.

Hi there, I’m sorry you ran into issues during bidding.

The optional tip you saw is set by the fundraising organization and goes to support their campaign on RallyUp. It isn’t an admin fee and RallyUp does not block or limit bidding based on whether a tip is selected. Donors can always set the tip to $0 if they choose and ability to bid is never tied to whether they tip.

We’d like to look into what caused the auction freeze moment. If you’re willing, please share the name of the organization or the auction link (and roughly when this occurred) and we’ll investigate and follow up.
