Worst rental car hire experience - we rent cars all around the world and this in my home town was the worst service we have ever received. We should have knowen as our first encounter with Matt at Rad a year ago was terrible, he was arrogant and seems to need some customer service training, yet we thought we would give them a second chance - never again, we picked a car up at 8.25 and we returned an hour later at 9.40 on return day and we were charged another $107 - this is an absolute joke never hire through them if you want a professional service were costs are not hidden.

RAD are c*ap. Their car was old, obviously leaked water when it rained, and the spare tyre was flat. When I returned it to the branch and complained, their attitude was presented with a smirk on their face. Never again.

The car we had was in great and clean working order. Needed it for a couple weeks through an insurance claim. In all the confusion with life I had forgot to ring Rad back and let them know that I needed the vehicle for another couple of days. Darryl was accomodating with me to get the situation back on track. Thanks Darryl!!

We had nothing but an excellent experience with these guys. I booked a hire care on behalf of my parents who were visiting from overseas. Put in the booking and got confirmation of availability the following day - it does say when booking that it’s not confirmed until they email you.
The customer service was great, friendly and efficient. Easy process and good little run around car.
We did get a charge for a fine that was paid, no issue, they refunded right away when I queried and advised it had been paid.
For the price we paid and the service we received I’m stoked and I’ll absolutely recommend the 15th ave Tauranga branch :)

We rent a car online from Rad Cars NZ, we got a confirmation screen and a confirmation e-mail.
Because we thought everything was fine, we booked a connecting flight accordingly.
The next day, we received an e-mail from Rad Cars that no car was available.
Bye bye travel plans, connecting flight, and 500 NZ Dollar that the flight had cost us. (No other car was available, also not from other companies.)
Cannot give more than 1 star here.

Having hired multiple vehicles over the years, I had become accustomed to receiving professional online services from every Car Rental company I had utilized while vacationing in New Zealand, these services had without exception always confirmed the booking immediately and/or advised of the unavailability of vehicles in order for the customer to make timely alternative arrangements. However, my recent booking with Radhire Whangarei WAS the disappointing exception. Although my booking appeared to have been confirmed (read the small print), & my credit card accepted, I arrived at the Whangarei office after a long journey from Gisborne to find that my booking was declined almost 24 HOURS after I had booked due to the unavailability of vehicles, leaving my 10-year-old grandson and I stranded. Although the receptionist feigned concern and half-heartedly offered to phone around for available vehicles elsewhere this was to no avail, her only alternative was to offer a van that was almost 150% more expensive.
Luckily I remembered the generally outstanding professionalism of local Information Centre staff and was able to successfully obtain a vehicle at short notice from GO-FLEXI RENTAL CARS! I won't even bother with Radhire in future and would highly recommend FLEXI Whangarei goflexi.co.nz where online booking is efficient, staff are professional, helpful, and genuinely care!
