I'm so grateful to PLY for helping me connect with like-minded people and make new friends. I still can't believe how easy they made it for us to find good people who are similar to us in one way or another. They brought back a strong sense of community for those who work from home or are single among married friends. I become a PLY Social regular
I become a PLY Social regular, i signed up for 4 experiences first one was film, sunday brunch, drinks and recently was bowling. TBH my first 3 experiences was not good, people had different interests and don’t wanna engage really it feels like they just come to meet and don’t wanna make a real connection but on my bowling experience really i like it so much the game, i got connected with a person, we becomes friends and i hope so this connection will last longer, so be patient sometimes things take time and one thing you should work on add more exciting activities and also try to engage people based on their interests that will be helpful for people to make real connections, thanks and i recommend it to everyone🤍

I was matched with 5 other men and one woman, with no profile pictures or any description about themselves. Definitely not a balanced nor safe app for friendship, canceled the booking and membership straight away.

Thank you for your feedback, though I'd like to add some important context.
This review was posted more than 24 hours before the event was due to take place, so it had not yet happened. Bookings don't close until 5pm on the day of the event, and we very often fill remaining spaces with additional guests right up until that point. The group you saw was therefore still forming, not final.
Safety is genuinely important to us. We stay available on WhatsApp throughout the entire event, and we only host in partner venues that have been vetted. On balance, while we aim for an even gender split and it usually works out that way, numbers can vary week to week and we can't guarantee an exact 50/50 mix for any single event. At the time you cancelled there were already two women in the group, not one.
We'd have happily explained all of this and moved you to a different event had you messaged us, but we didn't hear from you before the booking and membership were cancelled. If you'd be open to it, please reach out and we'll gladly help you find an event that's a better fit.

The group I was matched with was good. The venue was ok, food was amazing and spicy. Most importantly I didn’t feel any awkwardness meeting members of the group I was matched with. We hit it off immediately and were chatty up til the end. I will definitely do this again

so i booked their world cup watch…
so i booked their world cup watch party. the entire premise was changed from what both the photos AND the description described - a living room, comfy vibes to kick back and chill with others. and curated matching with likeminded individuals - not only did they change the venue to a pub last second (whats the point now? the experience is ruined) they also matched me at utter random with people nothing like me...the only two people i thought seemed cool left near immediately. also there are no photos of the people youre supposed to actually meet - how on earth do you gauge anything? its sloppy, lazy and bordering unethical because the value for money is zero. TERRIBLE

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed. We did look into your booking, and our records show the reservation was cancelled before the event went ahead, so we weren't able to host you on the day. We wanted to gently mention that, as some of the detail here describes the event as though you'd attended. You appear to have had a positive conversation with the team who offered you a credit for a different event, so this review over 2 weeks later was unexpected.
A couple of things worth clarifying for anyone reading. Attendee profiles, including photos, are visible ahead of each event, so there is information there to help you get a feel for who you'll meet. And the matching is based on the profile details guests share with us, so the two points here sit a little at odds with one another.
On the venue, this one was moved because more people booked than we could comfortably host in someone's living room, which we felt was the right call to give everyone a good night. Guests also received a free drink to make up for the change of setting.

Predatory pricing structure…
Their website makes cancelling very difficult. I was charged for an annual subscription which I did not want (£59.99). They send me about 15 different excuses as to why they couldn't issue a refund despite their website saying I would be eligible for a refund 14 days after purchase. I do not trust this company at all. Storiboard or PLY - I'm out.

Brunch - my first event
Recently attended my first event, a brunch, met with 4 other people and thoroughly enjoyed the time we all spent together. Interesting individual and group conversations. I look forward to booking another event in the future, it was a lovely way to make new connections.

Matched on age alone, not interests. Disappointing.
It’s good they have a choice of different activities and I’ve always met perfectly nice people but with nothing in common. Ply is Storiboard Club rebranded. If I’d realised that beforehand I wouldn’t have signed up at twice the cost of the Storiboard fee. Plus you have to pay a deposit on some of the activities on top of the subscription fee. They don’t match you on personality/interests at all so the questionnaire is futile. You’re matched on age. That’s it. And it seems there are regulars so you’re probably going to end up running into the same faces. Not what I was looking for at all. Shame really. Their marketing promises something different.

Since rebranding, we’ve worked hard to improve the overall experience; from thoughtful matching and curated events to member support and partnerships with venues across the UK.
In terms of activity payments, these go directly toward the experiences themselves. We work closely with our venue partners to secure heavily discounted rates exclusively for PLY members, while the membership itself covers matching, curation, community features and ongoing support.
We’re sorry to hear the matching didn’t feel aligned for you. Age is only one factor we consider alongside preferences, availability, and group dynamics, but we know connection is personal and not every event will click straight away. That said, many friendships do grow from seeing familiar faces over time, which is also why we’re proud to have regular members returning week after week.
For members who prefer meeting entirely new people at each event, our customer success team is always happy to make a note on your profile. Just reach out via WhatsApp or email and we’ll do our best to tailor your experience.

Brilliant
PLY (formerly Storiboard) has been excellent. I have participated in a wide variety of their events (Karaoke, Darts, Dinner, Bowling, Film Club, Drinks) and the vast majority of people I have met have been friendly, positive, kind and supportive. Their events have allowed me to come out of my shell and build my confidence. I even organised a get together to celebrate my 40th Birthday at BAM Karaoke with a group I had previously met. I highly recommend giving it a go. What do you have to lose?

Been a member since last year
Been a member since last year. Been to most of the events but am always like trying the new ones. I have met same friends who I'm still in contact with now. Only downside is I live in zone 6 east london towards essex. Not many people I've found from this area which is a shame and now the bowling has moved there are no events east and some of them can be quite far to get to.

Been to a few events now and I’ve enjoyed them all! (Favourite being the Salsa!)
They send you all the info ahead of time and I like how they break out the group into smaller groups, makes it easier to chat and to get to know everyone. Would recommend to anyone looking to make some new friends as there is something for everyone!
