My case has not been to court yet, still not yet recieved my summons. But my initial contact with Patterson Law was extremely positive and encouraging. I had a long, comforting chat with Hilary about my situation. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable on the concerning aspects of the law regarding my problem. She set my mind at ease. It is an uncomfortable experience being in receipt of a NiP regarding a speeding offence.
A genuine error on my behalf. Searching the internet for advice options - on a solicitor review website- Patterson Law came in at No2 - yet crucially for me had more than twice the reviews of the No1 law firm . Offence details delivered on initial contact - I was promised a
call back - and it duly occurred within the hour. The very knowledgeable solicitor was professional , empathetic, succinct , informative and candid.
Sharing with me via email tables/data indicating levels of offence and the accompanying fines & points etc. Should my case go to court ( unlikely I hope ) then I’d have no hesitation in appointing Patterson Law as my solicitors. Thank you KP - I am most grateful for your excellent advice.

From my professional (medical consultant) perspective could not have been better

In January I paid Pattersons £2000 to represent me in a Due Care and Attention Case where I believed I was the victim of an Insurance Scam.

A friend, a retired Paralegal spent six months collecting and collating eveidence to prove this and it clearly did.
Pattersons looked at the Dashcam evidence, dismissed the other evidence out of hand and told (advised) me that I could not win and that my only hope was to change my plea to guilty and they would mitigate for the lowest tarriff.
I was unhappy with this but never having been to court in my life, I reluctantly gave in and followed their advice.

I had had multiple conversations with my Case Handler and on April the 8th, I was instructed to be at court for 9:30am to meet the Barrister they had procured for me.

At 9:50am I phoned Pattersons to ask where she was, apparently, Pattersons had failed to communicate correctly with her Chambers and she received no instruction.

I was forced into court alone and had to explain to an already irate Judge, who believedI had been charged with to low a charge and was displeased time had run out on possibly changing it.

Thanks to the remarkable kindness and understanding of the PROSECUTING Council, my position was made plain, I asked for an adjournment and it was denied.
I was told I could phone Pattersons, arrange for a new Barrister who could represent me by Video Link or rush one to the court.

Many frantic calls to and from my Case Handler, Including the assistance of Prosecuting Council speaking to Pattersons and eventually a replacement was found.
The Judge also required Pattersons to upload an explanation and registration with the courts information system.
The Court informed me this did not happen, despite Pattersons insisting they had done it and like the Original Barrister Instruction, the fault lies with the person I hired.

New Barrister and fifteen Minute consultation, we went back into Court at 2pm, 4 hours after the first debacle, we again requested an adjournment due to lack of time to consult, this was again refused and we were told to return at 4:30pm where we would have had “Plenty of time” to consult.

This had been the single most stressful time in my life and as an Angina sufferer, I and my family were quite concerned about it, however, the final outcome was a fine and 6pts, I kept my Licence, more because of the understanding of the Prosecuting Council than anything Pattersons achieved.

Three Barristers informed me that not only had I paid more than the going rate in their opinion, especially for the level of service I received, but even the Judge commented the same at the end.

I approached Pattersons and asked for a detailed explanation, told them all that had happened and whilst the Case Handler was of course apologetic and promised an answer from a colleague within four weeks, I was as you can appreciate, unhappy.

In week 7 of the promised four weeks, a different employee of Pattersons e-mailed and basically denied any responsibility, move ALL of the blame onto the non attending Barrister and stated that if I wanted any recourse, as far as Pattersons were concerned, they were blameless BUT out of the goodness of their hearts, whilst NOT admitting any liability, they would give me a “Good Will” payment of £150, I believe that equates to 7.5% of the fee I paid.
Pattersons even had the barefaced cheek to include instructions of how I could take my grievance to the Ombudsman, NOT of course about them, but about the supposed Firm THEY insist they Instructed.
I at no point spoke to, e-mailed or contacted the non attending Barrister, I paid Pattersons for legal services THEY were my representatives, not some Barrister that even now, I have no knowledge of or if they even exist.

When I submitted the complaint to Pattersons, I had no expectation of satisfaction and they did of course live down to my expectation.

I will not give this up, but of course, the Legal Profession is as Pattersons display, definitely Legal, clearly though, not professional.

I would advise ANYONE to think very carefully about using them in the future.

*June 10th Update.*
I take issue with the notion that
"and while we acted quickly to secure alternative representation so you were not left without support,"
1.) I had to do all the chasing, plus the kindly intervention of OPPOSING Concil on my behalf.
2) in your e-mail to me today you contend
"I note your view that this is a matter for Patterson Law. However, barristers are independent professionals and are responsible for the services they provide. The non-attendance arose from an administrative failing within chambers"
First, I have no evidence from you this is true, you will appreciate that to me, your word is worth almost nothing.
3) One phone call the day before Court would have prevented this
£2000 and you couldn't manage it.

Rachel was great - very generous with her time in providing initial advice. Ultimately, I was able to resolve the issue without a formal process thanks to Rachel’s advice. Had it been necessary to go to court, I would have been very happy to instruct Pattersons. Highly recommended.

From my first contact at 7.30am, the response from Rachel couldn't have been any quicker, within 5 minutes of the start of her working day.
I needed advice in relation to a Notice of Intended Prosecution for an alleged motoring offence. I had an issue regarding a speeding fine complicated by being the driver of my sons car whilst he was away abroad and that he personally needed to respond to the notice. I contacted Patterson Law for help and was told that someone would ring me back. Now, it is my experience, both on line and on the phone, that help with a problem from most companies/agencies is usually not responded to or is followed by the need to pay for a service.
Firstly, Pattersons rang back within 10 minutes, Rachel Saunders was my contact and she clearly and calmly clarified the situation and the solution to the problem which resulted in my ending up with a driver awareness course rather than either myself or my son receiving a fine and points on our license.
This was outstanding and was followed up with an email confirming the details discussed.
A fantastic service and wholeheartedly recommended.
