OYO…Golden Star Hotel, Pimlico, London AVOID

Tried to book a hotel in London via OYO app but fortunately in hindsight I was unable to complete the booking.
Phoned OYO and made booking over the phone. I was sent an email with a link to make payment and was encouraged to make the payment there and then. I declined as I saw in the confirmation I could pay on arrival.
Check in was from 3pm. I looked at my emails at 3:30pm to say the booking had been cancelled. A subsequent email said I hadn't been charged (probably because they didn't have any of my payment details).
Quite glad we didn't stay at the Golden Star Hotel, SW1V 1QR.
Some terrible reviews and similar stories of last minute cancellations.
Haven't had to chase up a refund but did have to pay more for another room for the night.

It was horrible

It was horrible.
The lobby was full of junk
Went to the room it smelled bad.
Pulled the sheet back on bed there was not bottom sheet, top sheet and blanket had blood on it.
Went back to lobby told him I wanted a refund. He said something about tomorrow. I’ll get a refund tomorrow? Again tomorrow.
I paid $112.84 for this room online. Received a $10 refund. Won’t books OYO ever again. Booking. Com won’t help. Won’t book from there either

Don't book with OYO Hotels

Don't book with OYO Hotels. A totally automated system. Difficult getting the access code and WiFi information. I've written several emails and I get the same response and a link to FAQs which doesn't answer my query/questions. Dealing with robots. No customer service.

Oyo hotel is a NO NO !!

Oyo hotel: Belvilla Aberdeen Bridge of Don Sea View - Ex Holiday Inn Express. Do not at any cost book this hotel. Booked by accident but cancelled a few hours later and was refused refund despite the booking being about 5 days later - told was hotel policy! Contacted hotels.com who took over the case but despite their many attempts to get me a refund and the fact that we are both in our seventies and the hotel was too far out of the city and we are disabled made no difference. The phone numbers they give are fake as I have tried to call them and it says number not recognised. Have had many emails from them through the hotels.com website and they are patronising and dismissive as well. False listing on hotels.com makes you think it is a Holiday Inn Express but it's not !!!!

WARNING !!!!!Absolutely Shocking!!!! Please please stay away do not fall victim like I have I'm utterly devastated!!!! fraudulent scam !!!!
1. 7/3/25 Payment was made to OYO for a hotel
booking in Winchester Wessex Hotel by Sunday
for six people staying in 3 separate rooms for 15/3/25 - 16/3/25. Booking Details (ID: T74X7363) 2. A few minutes later I received an email confirmation of the booking, but the dates were wrong. Instead of the dates I entered, the dates were for the current day of 7/3/25.
3. After reading the email, I followed the
instructions under manage booking, to ring the helpline (0203 887 0032) but was cut off and unable to get through. As such I found a new number (0203 769 7045) on the OYO website, after 3 further attempts, I finally got through to an adviser where I tried to explain that an error had been made with their system and the
dates for the booking were incorrect. I was passed through different advisors where I tried to explain that I didn't want my money back, I merely wanted them to amend the dates to the
correct dates I entered on the original booking.
Unfortunately, they were not helpful and took no
responsibility for the error. They would not amend the dates to the correct ones and informed me cancellations had to be made before 09:00 on the day of arrival, fully aware that it was currently 19:30 on that very day. The call was ended after receiving a customer support email
address, where I was told to send a copy of my passport and driving licence to have a dispute ticket raised.Ticket ID: 2757923302
4. 7/3/25, I emailed the customer support desk as
advised, but to no avail. A ticket was raised but quickly closed with no resolution. I emailed them several times, where they eventually blocked me from sending any further emails.
5. Having not resolved this matter with the
vendor, I rang the Hotel directly using the number on their website to see if they would be able to
help me. The phone was answered by a lady who informed me it was an incorrect number, and she was tired of receiving calls about the Hotel which she has nothing to do with.
6. Once I was able to take a breath, I had this overwhelming feeling I had been the victim of a scam. As such I took to Google and searched the telephone number. To my horror, there was mention that the number was associated with booking scams. I then conducted a search on Trust Pilot for OYO. Again, there were numerous accounts of the company failing to supply
adequate service to its customers.
7. Finally I rang my bank to inform them of the
situation and try to have the payment stopped.
Unfortunately, I was told the payment could not be stopped, but they would freeze my debit card and have another one sent in the post. This experience with my bank was quite overwhelming. They were most unhelpful; I was at
my wit's end, and there was nothing I could do about it.
9. 8/3/25, To add insult to injury, I received an
email from OYO informing me the rooms I had allegedly booked were now ready to occupy along with the allocated room numbers. This all came some 10 hours after the rooms were supposed to be vacated according to their bogus
booking.
All in all this is a terrible company that you should avoid like the plague! I am now massively out of pocket by hundreds of pounds and there is nothing I can do about it.
However after seeking advice from the citizens advice, I am now looking into taking this Fraudulent company to a small claims court to get my money back !

Une équipe incompétente. Qui ne sait pas gérer le calendrier des locations, qui ne sait pas gérer les équipes de ménage au point de détruire les biens surtout parce qu'elles sont sous payés, et qui fini par faire les preuves fausses de leur travail et surtout ne savent pas faire une annonce correcte sur les plateformes.
Ils ont quand-même mélangés des appartements et ne sont pas aperçu d'eux même que les voyageurs se plaignaient de n'avoir pas ce qui est décrit.
Ils ne savent pas gérer les voyageurs correctement.

Non andate in questa catena di Hotels OYO, sono brutti e sporchi. Inoltre sto aspettando il rimborso da quasi un anno e mi prendono in giro con mail e telefonate (parlano malissimo inglese non si capisce niente) dicendo che il rimborso sta arrivando. Probabilmente sperano che uno si stufi di chiedere il rimborso; finti e falsi educati nelle loro mail di scuse sempre uguali. Da evitare!

Derelict shit hole

Omg I'm writing this to give you heads up on a hotel owned by oyo in chennai India. I had booked the super o mahaballapuram month ago and oyo everyday were hounding me for money. When I arrived in chennai the hotel we were meant to stay in had no electricity and the hotel looked nothing like the beautiful photos online ot was a state as they had no electricity they took us 200 metre down the rack to this abandoned shack by this time I was fuming in wouldn't have let my dog stay in there. I've travelled India 3 times on booking and never had an issue like this these 2 places should not be on yr website and I hope u take them off before this happens to anyone else.

I turned up at a derelict hotel

I turned up at a derelict hotel, they had sent confirmation of booking asked me to confirm my arrival time they said that they would adjust there booking in system so that I had an easy and carefree check-in...
Turn up to the hotel at my specified time to a derelict hotel.....
Spoke to customer service who assured me that I would get a full refund to then have only £9 returned and to query the rest with booking.com tried speaking to them since and now the advisor claims that he can't hear me.

One of the worst hotels I have ever…

One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, in my entire life!
This was the Oyo Hotel in Aberdeen. The place is a dump .... and that's being unfair to a genuine dump.
The place is seedy and filthy. The carpets are tatty and shabby. My room was on the second floor, and there is no lift; so I had to lug my (very heavy) suitcase up 2 flights of stairs.
I asked to be woken up at 7 am because I had a train to catch the next morning. They eventually remembered to knock on my door at 8 am. Surprise, surprise ... I missed my train.
Thay do not even deserve Zero stars. They should be minus 1.

Do not touch this company with a barge…

Do not touch this company with a barge pole. I booked a bed in a female dorm, reached the place, and the tiny room was in the middle of an empty building with no windows and no escape. There was one other bed occupied in the dorm, and it contained the items belonging to a man, shaving things, men's shorts hanging up in the shower, a locker full of alcohol. This man would have been so close to me that he could have reached out his arm and touched me in the night, the floor space for six beds was 6 foot by 3. Again, no windows, no means of getting help, nobody else in the totally empty building. I fled, and booked something else. Luckily there was something else I could go to. I have requested a refund from 6 different email addresses I have found online for Oyo, this was a long time ago now, and I have heard ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in response.

Don't listen to reviews try yourself

Not sure why there are so many poor reviews on here I've stayed twice in Blackburn and you get what you pay for it's comfortable for what it is. I will definitely stay again don't listen to reviews try for your self

Lots of problems here

Lots of problems here. This is not an hotel in the conventional sense. There is no key for the front door either the other guests leave the door open or you are locked out. My code for my room which I paid for was inexplicably inactivated on the penultimate evening as they seemed confused as to whether I had paid. This was resolved however this should never have happened. The room looked like it had not been properly cleaned before my arrival as there were stains on the quilt cover. The toilets which are shared with the other guests appear not to have been cleaned either. To cap it all off when I came back from a night out I was locked out and offered a couch in the other building. This is not acceptable! The owners need to decide if this is a hotel or a flat share. If it's a flat share either take it off booking.com or advertise it as such. If it's a hotel, sort out keys to the front door of the property so people don't get locked out and clean the place to an acceptable standard!

There was no staff on site at 5:50 pm. Despite repeated phone calls to the posted number, and repeated door bell rings, no one ever responded. I was forced to book a different hotel. I revisited the site the next morning and still no one on site/answering bell or phone.

When I finally did contact the property manager (two days later) he was argumentative, shameless and disrespectful. I've never heard such a string of excuses for not providing a service. And he was not helpful in the process of getting a refund. Just told me to call OYO, and no, he didn't have the phone number. Claims he was not at fault because he "didn't see the missed call." Also told me he was on site/no, he was not on site/ no, he was cleaning a room/ no he runs two hotels. A very long, unaccountable, string of excuses.

DON'T GO THERE.

Exterior of the hotel was grubby, in disrepair, and generally gross.

Scruffy and had bed bugs but a good breakfast

We stayed in the Berkley street OYO hotel.
Our room was dirty and scruffy and there were bed bugs.
We will not be staying there again.
However, the breakfast was really good and they did allow us to leave our cases and collect them later, which is why I have given them two stars rather than one.

I stay in one in bath 3 Crescent Gardens payed for breakfast and got a shop bought croissant 2 in a pack there was there was other stuff there but no way would you eat it don’t believe me go check this 🐀 hole out

No refund even for unavoidable circumstances

I booked a room on 5th September, the same night I fallen down and got hurt in my leg, my foot got swollen and I did send them picture and they are asking for doctor’s prescription. I don’t understand why should I got to doctor for swollen? As I need to travel 4 hours to go to Brighton it’s not possible for me to walk that much. The customer service people are rude and not helpful at all and unethical
