I recently received a cold call from Optimal Energy Solutions offering to give my solar system a thorough check. This was quite nicely timed as my system is over 14 years old and never had any maintenance and considering the average life of an inverter is apparantly 12 to 15 years according to Google it seemed a good idea. Their representative arrived on time as planned and checked everything explaining as he went what he was doing. I agreed that the inverter should be replaced and the panels cleaned. This was done efficiently on the day planned. I have now signed up to a maintenance plan.

I received a call from a lady Jane and she was so polite I had a problem with my solar panels and she said we will come and look at it for free and see if they could help I have had problems with getting my fit and they came out and looked at my system sorted my fit payments out and now I know who to call if I need help

I got a random cold call about a free voltage and efficiency check for my solar panels—which usually screams “here we go…”—but I gave them a chance as the chap James was polite and not push

James explained my original installers may have gone into liquidation (which I already knew—cheers for the reminder 😅), and said they offer free checks so people aren’t left stranded. Fair enough. Their whole thing was basically “save our number in your phone and think of us if you need anything,” which, to be honest, is a lot less pushy than most of these calls.

Booked it in, and the guy who turned up was actually great—on time, friendly, and didn’t try to blind me with science. He checked everything over, explained what he was doing in normal human language, and reassured me the system wasn’t about to give up on life.

There was a bit of chat about upgrades, but nothing aggressive—no “sign here right now or your roof will explode” vibes.

I did end up booking a panel clean while they were here… and yeah, it was definitely overdue. Didn’t realise how grim they’d got until someone pointed it out!

All in all, surprisingly decent experience for something that started with a cold call. No hard sell, just helpful info and a useful service. I’ve saved their number—so I guess the plan worked.

I recently received a friendly cold call from a very pleasant chap called James offering a free health and safety check on my solar panels. My original company went bust years ago, so I was a bit unsure at first as I've had many calls from so called solar companies only to discover it was a sales call. However, I’m so glad I agreed after James pointed out that they are an aftercare and maintenance company and they have the MCS certificate that a lot of these chancers do not.

James explained they just looking to make a good impression in case I need someone in the future which is fair enough.

The technician Martin arrived promptly was polite and professional and speaking with him he was retired police officer which was great as I am a retired Prison Nurse so we had a few stories to tell during the appointment, Martin took the time to explain everything clearly. They carried out a full inspection of my system, checked that everything was working safely and efficiently, and even gave me some helpful advice for ongoing maintenance and a full report.

This didn't cost me a penny, other than offering Martin a cup of tea! He gave me some quick tips to get the best out of my system I will be using them if and when I need anything

After being messed around by multiple companies who never bothered to return my calls, finding Optimal Energy Solutions was a breath of fresh air.

They have maintained my system for two years now, and without fail they contact me every year to arrange servicing and cleaning. Their reliability really sets them apart.
