This is an excellent company, let down on this occasion by a dreadful delivery problem which was not their fault.
The high quality of the chess set is fantastic, exceeded my expectations, board, pieces and storage box all perfect and packaging first rate. Prompt replies and every effort made to deal with the horror delivery. Can't fault them, pleasure to deal with throughout.

The £49.99 chess set looks fine in the photos - sadly some squares on my chess board were blemished with small white spots and open pores - the pieces were of satisfactory quality, with the detail being not the finest - a budget buster set.
I am asking Staunton to send me a set without blemishes on the chess board.

I bought a set years ago and unfortunately, we realised last week that we'd lost a pawn. I told Staunton and they sent me a replacement, free of charge immediately. Brilliant customer service!

After a week' s delay and problems with Parcelforce I have received my order. Frustration with delivery was tempered by Carl in Customer Services who went above and beyond to rectify the situation as he realised the order was for a grandchild's birthday present to be taken to Spain. My partner was thrilled with the chess set I bought him. It's really high quality and clearly made with love and attention to detail. Not only that though – when my dog got hold of the white king and nibbled his hat off, the kind customer service people I spoke to found a way to send me a replacement (for free), even though they don't sell individual pieces for a set. They clearly really care about what they do and the satisfaction of their customers which is really lovely to see in the age of automated chat bot responses to customer service requests. Wouldn't hesitate to order from these guys again!
