We take your concerns seriously, but we must firmly address the false accusations made regarding your mother’s project. Here are the facts:
The scope of work, as agreed upon and signed, included replacing deck boards and installing Trex decking, with additional waterproofing measures added at your request. During the project, unforeseen issues, such as rotten joists and boards, were discovered. These issues required immediate attention to ensure the deck's structural integrity, and we communicated this to you promptly, proceeding with necessary repairs as per standard construction practices
It is important to clarify that the DIY water runoff system you installed approximately a year prior was not part of the original scope of work or the signed contract. This system presented inherent limitations in providing a fully waterproof solution, which we noted during the initial assessment. While Trex decking and a corresponding water runoff system were initially proposed, budget constraints led to the selection of an alternative plastic membrane material. This material, as outlined in the signed proposal and contract, was a cost-effective compromise and was explicitly noted as not being a long-term waterproofing solution. It was intended only to complement the existing makeshift system
After being informed of the leaking issue on October 26th, we promptly scheduled an inspection on November 5th. During this inspection, it was determined that the leaking was primarily caused by the pre-existing DIY gutter system. Despite this issue being outside the agreed scope of work, we reinforced the screws on the system at no additional cost and provided recommendations for further preventative measures. We even went above and beyond by making calls to explore options for securing a proper under-deck rain system for your mother, including seeking discounted or donated solutions
We have made every effort to address the issues within the constraints of the project scope and budget. However, we cannot accept false accusations that misrepresent the facts or our efforts to resolve the matter.
