I'd be wanting to do a reading retreat for years and so glad this was my first one! Couldn't fault it at all and can't recommend the experience highly enough. Ashleigh was lovely and so welcoming and the thought and effort she goes to is amazing. The little gifts we received were so thoughtful and honestly perfect. Everyone who attended was so friendly too and it was great to sit and have a bookish chat over an afternoon tea (which was absolutely delicious!) before heading off to find a quiet spot to sit and read. The setting was stunning and especially on such a beautiful day. Sitting under a tree in the breeze looking out over the lawns and fields beyond was incredible and i felt so peaceful and relaxed afterwards. Didn't want to leave and go back to reality at all! Thank you Ashleigh for a fabulous afternoon, you are amazing at what you do and no question that i will definitely book more of these in future.

Yet again another afternoon of relaxing me time. Ashleigh is amazing and provides a lovely environment with tasty afternoon tea and space to switch off from the world with a good book. On top of this a thoughtful gift of a book specially chosen by Ashleigh knowing the genres you love to read. Can't wait for the next one.

It's fair to say that I am a huge fan of Novel Retreats - I take every opportunity to book one of their delightful afternoon events and I am never disappointed.
Our bespoke gifts were an absolute delight and the Afternoon Tea was delicious and very generously portioned.
What's priceless about these Retreats is the host's attention to detail and commitment to meeting every need, ensuring that we can make the most of the precious gift of uninterrupted quiet time to relax and read.

A truly exhilarating experience, the house was beautiful and so comfortable, the food prepared and made with love by Jesse and Amy, truly Devine. The hot tubs and aromatherapy massage so relaxing . Meeting lots of new friends and having such fun with the murderer mystery cast...haha. Silvia you were the star of the show as well as the murderer, you need to find an amdram group you will be famous!!! And Ashleigh our amazing host, you exceeded all expectations.

I have been to a few of these retreats and they have all been fantastic. It starts with lunch or afternoon tea and does really well to cater to different dietary requirements. You can then find a cozy place to read anything you like; book, magazine or newspaper, totally up to you. Everyone is really friendly and, with some, you can get some goodies and a surprise book. We will be definitely going to as many as possible in the future!

I have now been to three retreats in three different locations (Chester, Liverpool, Nantwich). Ashleigh is a fantastic host, able to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I love her attention to details and the personalised gift she puts together. Food is always delicious, and you are guanteed to find a comfy seat where you can spend a few hours reading to your heart's content. I have thouroughly enjoyed partecipating, and I am looking forward to the next retreat

What a wonderful way to have some quality ‘me’ time by giving yourself ‘permission’ to do something you love without that niggle at the back of your head that you should actually be doing something else! Ashleigh has put so much hard work into creating a relaxing way to kick off your shoes which empowers you just to take a breath. We had such a wonderful afternoon and came away feeling thoroughly refreshed. And, as a bonus, we were all given a perfect present, beautifully gift wrapped, but to tell you what it was would spoil the surprise should you choose to go on a retreat yourself!

Well what can I say, I didn’t know what to expect, it was amazing. Set in the Grizedale Forest, a lovely property, surroundings and wonderful food that just kept on coming, delicious.

Ashleigh was a fabulous host, with all her personal touches, along with her team, Jesse and Amy, thank you all so much.

New friends, lots of chat and laughter, not to forget the many spaces to relax, sit and read in the lovely lounge or outside with the picturesque country views and the fabulous weather 🌞

With time to pop out for a couple of hours to visit local areas, boat trips on lake Windermere, with a delicious packed lunch prepared for us by Chef Jesse.

I would highly recommend the experience and would love to do it all again.

A Novel Getaway.
If you’re wanting to get away from it all, have time to read your favourite novel or even write that short story you keep putting off, then a Novel Reading Retreat weekend allows to do just that.

My first Novel Retreat had everything and more, a well-planned itinerary to help me make the most of my time away, the hardest thing I had to do was pick my reading material and pack my toothbrush.

Set within a picturesque location, my accommodation for three days was tastefully designed and a comfortable base for me to enjoy the peace and tranquillity away from it all. All the bedrooms were ensuite, tastefully decorated and with luxury hotel quality bedding and towels.

I shared this experience with five other likeminded guests and team of three that literally looked after our every need. Whilst I selfishly indulged in the beautiful surroundings, cosy comfortable rooms with plenty of reading nooks to sit around, chat or read, the team were on hand to ensure we had all we needed.

The package was fully inclusive and totally surpassed any expectations I had, from the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a warm welcome, our luggage taken off us and replaced with a glass of Bellini.

The food during our stay prepared by Chef Jesse was of the highest standard I have ever tasted, without a doubt Michelin star quality.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout stay were all prepared freshly that day with a fusion of tastes that excited the tastebuds. Halfway through the morning we were treated to freshly baked raspberry muffins and warm scones with jam and cream. later, in the afternoon the aroma of freshly baked Focaccia could be smelt filling the air and when presented at dinner, wow simply a work of art.

From the little handmade crafted pots of flowers and relaxing smelling candles that gave the rooms a peaceful calming ambience to the luxury Novel Retreat goody bags waiting for us in our rooms, full of all sorts of booked themed treats, a signed copy of the book from the published author who was joining us to speak after dinner.

Every attention to detail had been thought of, our beds were even turned down at night and a small chocolate surprise left for us on our pillow, literally all you had to do for the whole weekend was turn the pages of your book.

The retreat gave you the opportunity to make new friends, take time out from busy lives and not worry about anything outside our little of piece of heaven.

No pressure to mix with others in the day, just come together for dinner, enjoy light-hearted conversation, play a board game or watch a film.

The whole experience was very calm and chilled, you can spend the day in your pyjamas if you wish, take yourself off for a walk and discover the beautiful countryside or find a quiet spot and read, this for me was such a treat and well worth the money, I left feeling refreshed, relaxed and having made some new friends.

Looking forward to the next one now.

What an unforgettable weekend we had at Novel Retreats in the Lake District!
Tucked away in the heart of Grizedale Forest, our accommodation was the perfect setting to switch off and soak it all in. Whether curled up indoors with a book or enjoying the peaceful surroundings outside, there were countless cosy spots to read, relax, and connect.

Ashleigh had thought of every little detail, and with the incredible Chef Jesse keeping us well-fed (and then some!), we truly wanted for nothing. The food was exceptional – every meal a treat – and evening cocktails on the terrace (cheers, Amy!) set the perfect tone before dinners filled with laughter, conversation, and the kind of games that bring people together.

We even managed a Sunday outing to Ambleside, complete with a picnic lovingly prepared by the chef. It was the perfect end to a perfect weekend.

I’ve come away feeling like I’ve made friends for life. None of us wanted to leave, and the goodbyes were genuinely emotional. I absolutely will be booking the next one – and I can’t wait.

My weekend at the retreat was heavenly: a few days of complete relaxation away from the cares and stresses of life.

The accommodation was gorgeous, beautifully furnished to a high standard, with an inviting and comfortable vibe. Its quiet location, looking out at fields and trees, gave it a calming atmosphere.

The food was better than 5star: a daily fare of three exquisite meals presented in beautiful, generous portions, and fresh-baked treats of muffins and scones. Every dish was such a culinary masterpiece that it's impossible to pick a favourite.

The weekend retreat provided time and a calm, nurturing space in which to read, unwind and relax with every need catered for. Guests were free to share the space or to enjoy time alone; we arrived as strangers and left as friends.

By the end of the weekend, I felt relaxed and valued, and very reluctant to leave.

I recommend this retreat to everyone. You will be treated like royalty, waited on during and between delicious meals, and you will be gifted precious time to just BE in a quiet, nurturing space.
